Must be crazy to buy USB 2.0.

    • +2
    • You reckon that is the bottleneck? No way these do 480mbps.

      • -2

It is a bottleneck. You'll never be able to fill up 64gb with USB 2.0 speeds.

Do. Not. Buy. You have been warned

        • -2

No it's not. USB2.0 is capable of 60 megabytes per second. These Cruzer Blades never come close to that. It's funny how you and others can't comprehend that the Cruzer Blade is just slow.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Cruzer Blades speed is less than 10m/s. I have the 32g version. is was $4 last black friday

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: No, USB 2.0 has a theoretical maximum of 60 mb/s of the protocol itself - on paper.

If you take into account the necessary implementation details (e.g., maximum packet size), the theoretical maximum that any real device can achieve is 50,7mb/s.

This, again, is theoretical maximum of any real devices receiving the maximum 13 packets / microframe using the maximum packet size. Actual devices generally cannot receive more than ~10. The USB controllers on these keys are really poor quality, so it would be much lower than this, not even mentioning the poor quality (slow) memory modules.

It is you who can't comprehend something.

@ocoolio: You don't even know the difference between megabits and megabytes.

Cruzer Blades wouldn't get beaten by other USB 2.0 drives if the USB 2.0 protocol was the bottleneck. It's not. You obviously haven't benchmarked read speeds from external HDD cache or SSD if you think they perform the same as a Cruzer Blade, bottlenecked by USB 2.0. You think 10MB per second is some sort of a limit when 30MB per second is quite possible. The Cruzer Blade is slow. Funny you can't deal with that fact. It's slow even compared with other USB 2.0 devices.

                • @ocoolio: You did: "Actual devices generally cannot receive more than ~10." Worked out what a megabyte is yet? You really don't understand things. You could bypass the USB 2.0 interface altogether and Cruzer Blades would still be slow. Your belief that they are fast and just being held back by USB 2.0 is ridiculous. There are plenty of USB 2.0 devices that outperform Cruzer Blades. You've obviously never even used an FTDI FT232H. LOL.

  • Selfie?

  • Same price at officeworks

  • hard pass imo. I guess it'd be ok to have as a backup or a backup. you can get the Sandisk USB 3.0 version of this for not much more.

Painfully slow. I guess it can be ok if you just want to store something small on it or only moving small files. Definitely too annoying to use for constantly moving large files.

These are great for the PlayStation Classic if anyone is still using them. Supposedly they need USB 2.0 and don't work with 3.0, though I've not tested it. Might upgrade from my 32gb one just for the heck of it, can never have too much space when it costs a tenner to double your whole thing. Cheers.

    • The PlayStation Classic compatibility depends on how much power a USB requires, as the USB ports don't provide as much power as the USB2 spec requires. Some USB2 devices don't work and some USB3 do.

  • I wouldn’t go usb 3.0 either. It’s 3.1 or nothing!

  • Fine for recording on most TVs.
