Hey guys, Samsung appear to be liquidating their stock of 2010 3D glasses (not compatible with the new 2011 models), giving them out for 'free'. You only need to pay shipping, which works out to $7ea if you choose to get 5 glasses.

    Finally got through. Guy said all the calls are tripping the phone system and that's why everyone is getting cut off.

    Took about 20 calls to get finally get through.

    BTW They need to know your TV model number, so make sure you have it before calling.

        • They didn't ask for my tv model number either. It is an interesting promotion. I guess the glasses are technically superseded but for us we always planned to get more glasses for our tv when more 3d content became available. So this is a great promotion for us. One wonders if these will be available to buy in the coming years should people need a replacement for an old or broken pair or for those that bought a 3d tv but never got glasses to begin with.

          I believe all Samsung 3D TVs came with 1 pair of battery powered glasses. Mine did. I've been waiting for them to come down in price to buy another pair.

          You bring up an interesting point about replacements. Normally TV manufactures charge outrageous prices for replacement equipment. I remember trying to get a remote for a Sony receiver and they wanted $110+GST+$20 delivery. Luckily I found a new one on ebay delivered from the US for $35.

          I don't think there's any legal minimum period a manufacturer has to carry parts (like cars). A few years from now you could be out of luck entirely.

    • Yeah, they asked for mine too. But I think that is to ensure you have a TV that is compatible.

  • Yay, got through for 3 pair. Just have to be incredibly patient people. 40mins of repeated phone calls, cut offs, "optus advises somebody dropped the phone in the toilet" etc.

    Just need them to follow through with their "Thank you Matthew. A consultant will call you soon…" promise.

    Took me 3 calls, but the third picked up quick quickly.

    Here's an update-
    The offer started at 9am today and they had about 2.5k in stock, as at 10am they were down to 1.6k

    • Oh sweet…..that would mean I might still get my glasses when they call back.
      I left my call back details with them 1.5hrs ago.

  • I have a Series 8 UA46C8000XF but don't know if it was released this year or 2010.. May be keen for a few pairs if they're compatible!

    • It's a "C series", it should be. This year's models are the "D series".

      Called them back, first time telling me they will call me back after 20 minutes, which has now been 50 min. This time they picked up pretty quick, 3 tries, well gave them my details again and hey said "we will give you a call back since we a being inundated with calls", i told him i was told i'd get a call back after 20 minutes the first time and it's been 50 min, tells me you will not miss out on the promotion just need to wait.

      For all those trying don't give up, I'm hoping from what I've been told that even though you haven't paid for it and have been added to the list you will not miss out.

  • Wow this is painful. I have tried about 5 times and have only spoken to a person once. All he said was please hold lol.

    • Got through finally. They took my details and said someone will contact me in the next couple of days to take payment. They gave me an Order number so i assume that means that they have allocated me my 5 pairs.

      • Finally got through…As of now, i have been informed that they have about 600 left in stock.

  • I didn't get an order confirmation either :( not sure what's going to happen they took my details and just said they will call back in a few days to take down my credit card info. Hopefully they will honor it.

  • I know it's free, but I wonder why anyone bothers. Doesn't everyone already have 1-2-3 pairs, are people actually going to have up to 8 people around watching a 3D movie?

      I only had the original 1 that came with my TV. Now it will have 5 more to join it in the drawer never being used!

      Yes, having 8 on the couch watching a 3D movie is easily likely at our place. And it's pretty frustrating putting on 3D Avatar etc after a dinner with friends and somebody missing out on watching it.

      If I can solve that problem for $25 I'm all in.

      • Exactly. I got one pair with the tv and i purchased another pair so myself and the missus could watch 3d. However both of my pairs are battery operated and not rechargeable. Its a very cheap way to get a couple of sets just in case.

      • Hey if you'd actually use it, then that's all good. I'd say you're in the minority though, I know there will be plenty of people buying this and not using them. Even when I lived at home with my family of 5 I don't think we ever all watched TV together, let alone 8 - but hey, everyone is different. Unfortunately 'social movie nights in' are less and less these days.

  • Just got off the phone (after a twelve-or-so minute hold), and they said they've reached their limit. They did take down my contact details - including TV model number and how many pairs of glasses I wanted - just in case. Apparently someone will be in contact with me later on.

    Guess I don't need more glassess. I should shop for a new 3D movie. There's got to be something that will remind me why I bought a 3D TV.

    Well I guess I shouldn't of put off selling some of the 8 pairs I already have after double dipping on the redemption. Their $60+ ebay price will now plummet.

  • I haven't heard back yet, they took my name and number after about 20 attempts at getting through. This was at about 9:30. They'd better not stuff this up even more than they already have. They didn't give me an order number or anything. I was really quick when I gave them info because I was scared I would get disconnected again. The first time I got through I was disconnected as soon as they asked for my name and number before I got a chance to reply.
    So have people actually given payment details, etc?

    I must say I'm surprised. She even gave me my confirmation number when I asked for it.

    • Called them in the morning. Pretty luck to get through at the first call and left the contact detail. But haven't received a call back yet.

    Can these glasses be used as normal Sunglasses? And will they make me look cool?

    • Nope they are made of glass and are very fragile, the style is more of a woman's look but not even.

      The lenses will not provide a 'shade' effect when not turned on, and you will look stupid wearing them.

  • Since 9am after around 40+ attempts(almost pissed me off) from mobile at works finally got breakthrough around 11.30am & order 5 pairs.They note down my details like name, mobile no & email Id & assure me to call back.After insisting few times able to get Order confirmation No.So far no reply yet but honestly speaking still not sure about getting my order delivered.

    Looks like they are just collecting information now, they've already said that they've run out of units. (It's a marketing firm, they love numbers/addresses/etc.)

  • I called early in the morning and left my details as well as sent an email with my TV serial number and how many glasses I would like but I never received a call back.

    The glasses are probably all gone now.

    • Did you give them your CC information? I did and the woman said that I will receive my order in 3 months or whatever.

      • She didn't want my credit card details and said she would call back for that.

        I thought about putting my card details in the email I sent but wasn't prepared to risk it.

          And immediately regretted it, but so far the only thing that has happened is I have had $35 debited from my card towards 5 pairs of brodened 3D glasses

  • I never got a phone call back either, did anyone. I did not get a conf # they just said name, email, phone, how many pairs, we call you and goodbye basically

    • That's what happened to everyone I think. Give it some time though, I think it's a small-ish call centre and they have many hundreds of people to get through. Some were actually told it may take a few days (3 or 4 maybe) to get the callback, so just be patient I guess.

    Got my callback at 1630 yesterday. Ordered 5. They said it will take up to 4 weeks to be delivered. Not sure why they are not including the kids' 3D glasses in this promo. Would be good for those with families.

    • It would have been to include the kids ones in the promo —- my partner wanted me to ask about them but they were obviously too busy.

    So within 4 weeks I will have more glasses. will replace the battery ones I hardly used :)

    has anyone been charged on their credit cards yet? Ihave a charge for $35 ref. CCS-Brtsh High Com m Brookvale. I assume thats for my 5 pairs of glasses. Im guessing that CCS stands for call centre services but the rest of it WTF? sounds like someone taking the urine.

    On a side note in the internet@tv appstore there is an explore 3d app from samsung with heaps of free 3d stuff like movie trailers, episodes of kids cartoons, music and heaps of documentaries.

      • My AMEX has the following charge CALL CENTRE SERVICES PL MANLY VALE NSW. Looks like they might have fixed it.

    • Just got off the phone to the call centre and the confirmed that it was them who charged me the $ 35 CCS-Brtsh High Com m Brookvale, they just put it under the wrong description

    • I have had my credit card hacked twice in the past 6 months, causing the need to change it of course. On Monday I thought it had happened again, but I am SO relieved to see this post, because I too have a $35 British High Commission (or that's what it looks like) charge on my credit card. I was SO close to cancelling my card again.

    • I received the call back on Saturday and provided my email address, shipping address and credit card. Just checked the card. No charge. They said they would send me an email and no email yet. This afternoon called the Samsung service centre 1300 xxxxxx since the promotion number is closed. David from service centre said his supervisor will follow up the case. Will see what will happen.

    I would presume rather then being new glasses they might be all the repaired glasses that arrived smashed or with broken arms

        • Ok so I finally got a call back this morning so don't freak. The lady on the phone just said it has been hectic. 4 weeks delivery time and i should get my 5 pairs. The one thing i did notice however was they didn't call me back on mobile number I gave them, they called me back on my work phone which i made the original call from.

  • Hey, I've just been charged a second time for shipping. They took my card details twice because they apparently copied it down wrong or something.

    So a timeline:
    - Got my callback Saturday (I called up reasonably early Friday, 9:40ish I eventually got through, might be why some of you guys are still waiting). Got no charge on my card.
    - Got called back again Monday to get my card number again. Checked a few hours later and I had one unidentified charge on my card for 35 bucks. (Correct, I did order 5 pairs)
    - Checked card again just now, and I've gotten a second 35 bucks charge, also still unidentified.

    Will call them up soon, keep you guys posted :)

    • Update, emailed them and got a response within a day. They apologized and asked for my order number (just got order confirmation email today too). Hopefully this gets sorted quickfast :)

    after 5 attempts i got through on the 6th the rest were all busy lines as i m assuming they were calling out.
    i gave them my order number and they processed it.

  • I've just got a call back from samsung taking my payment, said id receive them in about 4 weeks… so its all happening now.

    when i rang they said if i qualified i'd get some…(must have been running low) didnt get an order number either.

  • Hi guys, just checked my account again and after 2 calls to the bank it seems as though they have released the funds back to my account & havn't charged me. So im guessing that I wont be getting the glasses so keep checking your accounts guys. What a total stuff up Samsung!

    • EDIT - managed to contact the customer service and they had problems with their payment system, they confirmed that they have taken payment an that they have 5 pairs reserved for me WooHoo. Just checked the bank account and the transaction finally shows up as a debit.

  • Interestingly, I just got called by a lady who said "we're now ready to take payment". My order's on the way!
    This was after I tried calling on day one - line dropped out and I couldn't get through; then I emailed them later in the afternoon. Got a missed call on Saturday afternoon (which I was kicking myself for cause I left my phone in the car for 10min), and I thought all hope was gone… Then 5 days later - the call today!
    Now, hopefully itll actually arrive :)

  • rang the 1800 number - apparently all sold out said an automated message and then hung up. :(

    Hope they have a future offer. They should have limited it to 2 or 3 each and perhaps requested a copy of your invoice to stop people from just blanket buying and then simply re-selling them on Ebay.
