  • Needs something that will play CSgo smoothly on a 24-28" monitor + a little future proofing for a graduation gift to an 18yo.
Any suggestions? Well out of the loop.

    • +2

      Both these are future proofed…

The graphics card will be good for a few yers at 1080 and 1440 , and can be upgraded after that time

    • i'd go with intel for csgo

the cpu will probably last a good 10 years at the rate we're going

    • Both PC's will fine with CSGO.

Intel is generally better for csgo but If you go with the ryzen build just make sure you upgrade to the motor mobo and the ram to 3200mhz speeds.

Just make sure your son is using a 144hz monitor for CSGO.

I have purchased 2 PC's from Techfast and I have been happy with both of them.

Luke is great with any customer service needs you may have and the product itself is great for the money.

      • When you are saying better, don't you think that the difference is negligible? 200+ fps is 200+ fps

        • Well, if the kid wants to upgrade to a 240hz monitor for 1080p or play in higher resolutions intel would help in providing more frames.

This is coming from an AMD fanboy.

    • +1

A Sub $400 pc will play CSgo smoothly at max, Personally I would get a sub $1000 PC and then spend $the rest on a 2k @ 144hz monitor, like this one, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/27-Viewsonic-VX2758-2KP-MHD-2K-1…

Since the systems takes about 3 weeks to deliver, buy the monitor when it gets cheaper.

  • Had my 1070 since way back in 2016… still a 1440p beast

    • That depends on the titles and settings. The Witcher 3 on Ultra at 1440p on a 1070 will struggle to get over 50 FPS. Just sayin…

      • I'm on 1060 with 1440p ultrawide. 40fps are enough for PC peasant like me.

      • And 50fps is plenty for cinematic games like the witcher…so you are agreeing that the 1070 can handle 1440p fine?

        • It's more like 42-46 FPS on the Ultra settings I tested it on, but you do notice a bit of stutter, so although it's playable, no I would not agree its fine.

  • Hi @luketechfast Any more deals for $600 price range this week?

    • +2

      That's the one that's soon….

  • Any budget ryzen + rx 580 deals coming?

    • We have Entry Level with 3200G here for $497 delivered. Higher CPU with 580 will form part of the soon one too.

    • 1650 super and rx5500xt are both way cheaper than an rx 580 when you factor in the increased power cost over the lifetime of the card, plus perform better.

      • +1

We've had zero interest in either tbh, no requests. It's interesting.

  • How does the warranty work? Do I need to send it back to Techfast. Who pays for the postage?

Does anyone here have any experience with the warranty with Techfast? Thanks.

    • I would like to know this too. I bought this last year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499390/comments and now it can not boot up. It says “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key’ I went into bios and could not locate my ssd drive. I can only see generi loader data device.

      • +1

Sounds like your SSD has failed my dude, maybe find a way to test the SSD in either an enclosure or another computer so hopefully you wouldn't have to send the entire thing back.
Or alternatively just buy yourself a new one assuming it was just a low capacity boot drive you can get them for ~$30

        • +2

We're assisting with a replacement ssd being sent under warranty as I understand it.

          • @luketechfast: Yes this is correct. They are intending to send me another SSD with windows loaded on to it, but it just sucks as it was only 2 months old. Thank you for your assistance Luke.

  • I'm curious about the rest of the parts… Which I think are a generic psu and SSD. I'm guessing it's a dramless SSD?

    • Would also like to know about this, I've herd cheap dramless ssd preformed as bad as a spinning hd.

    • +1

We use a variety of brands and models. The lower capacity SSDs are generally Allied or Lexar. 1tb usually crucial, Kingston or Lexar. NVME Crucial, Intel, Gigabyte etc. They're not Samsung Evos at this price.

  • any chance of a ryzen 5 + rx570 combo?

    • +3

570 and 580 pricing is pretty much identical so when the new deal hits, it will be as low as it can go, but with a 580 instead of 570.

  • If I were to go after the 3600 / 2070s combo but WiFi is a must (apartment layout), is it better to go for mb upgrade or buy myself another WiFi card and put it on the mb?

USB dongle is… ugly, would like to avoid that if possible

    • +1

Getting the MSI B450 upgrade rather than the x570 tuf is more economical and also better due to the fact that you can replace the wifi card if the tech improves without needing a whole new motherboard.

I'd also recommend the MSI r100 case upgrade, 3200 Mhz upgrade, 1tb ssd and the 80+ gold PSU upgrade.

Note on 1070 Founders Cards: They were installed in systems for a gaming event and then not used since, so have barely been used.

Sounds like ex-mining cards from China to me.

    • +4

We tried to get them but there were delays due to coronavirus, so unfortunately they're neither ex-mining cards nor from China.

      Also, snap

      • -8

they're neither ex-mining cards nor from China.

If you say so as who would know.

  • Anyone know how much the parts are if purchased separately?

  • Any details on those cases?

    • There should be images with the specs at the end of the gallery.

  • SOrry to be a newb, have asked several of these questions so far

Do I need to pay extra to activate Windows? What is the difference I don't pay for it.

    • +1

From us, Windows is $169. You can purchase a key elsewhere. It retains much of the functionality without activation but the full functionality required activation.

    • What is the difference I don't pay for it.

There will be a watermark in the bottom right hand corner and you won't be able to personalise the background. You can buy cheap keys that may or may not be legit on ebay that will activate it.

      • Thanks for the info;

Another thing, I have 3 other laptops and a desktop. They all have Win10. Can I use the serial number for one of those - to a new build (and get full acess)? One of the other devices will probably be used very infrequently, if at all.

        • Most likely this will work, yes, although it's not the most "legit" way to go about it (not that I care).

Just make sure you apply a Win 10 home key to a Win 10 home installation or a Win 10 Pro key to a Win 10 Pro installation (sounds obvious but often if it doesn't work this is why)

      • I think I was able to change the desktop by opening an image file (.JPG), click on the three dots in top right, select "set as", background.

        Watermark remains.

    • If you have a Win 7 product key, that ought to activate Win 10 just fine.

There are a LOT of optimization settings which you can NOT access w/o activation. FYI

  • Hey Luke, any chance of the i7 9700 being sold without the gfx carD?

  • GTX 1070s are still being sold new?? Aren't those cards from 2016?

  • Is either Mid or Flair tempered glass instead of plastic?

    • Both acrylic. The screw holes are too close to the edge of the case to hold tempered glass.

      • Hi Luke, i purchased the 5 3600/2080s yesterday. However seeing the 5 3600/2070s deal today makes me change my mind. Would i be able to cancel the previous order and get this one instead? Thanks heaps

  • Anyone who knows about flight simulation - would the i7 build be decent for X-Plane which is fairly intensive on the CPU?

  • Hi, any chance of a R5-3600 with cheaper graphic card (geared more toward productivity). Looking to finally buy one of these PCs

    • Can look at it next week. RX 580?

      • Awesome.. RX 580 or maybe even GTX 1660 depending on price :). After that, seem like you'll have pretty much all customer base covered with the different deals lol

  • Is this cheaper than building your own?

  • Do you guys have any 1080ti systems? Thanks

    • Not something I've heard as being available but if it does we'll probably give it a run.

  • Will the Ryzen PC with 2070 Super run AAA titles at 1440p at a decent frame rate?

  • If I pay for the $129 upgrade, does Z390M motherboard support 4x DDR4 slots?

    • Yep, it will.
