Bought one. $599 elsewhere. On par with Sony in sound. Better material and style.

Are you arguing for or against?
B&W > Sony every time. It’s a premium brand.
That was my first reaction too. This sounds WAAAYYY better than Sony! Only other ANC headphone I would buy for the sound is Sennheiser Momentum 3 which btw is also 40% off on qantas store!
The momentum's are also very comfy because the ear cups are actual leather, but I'm not a fan of their exposed cable, poor battery life and horrible microphone quality.
This sounds great…..better than Sony or Bose.
Picked up a set of these back during a boxing day sale, here are some random thoughts you should know before purchasing:
- Ear cups are removable, but unlike the PX (predeccesor) they are clips not magnets.
- They have quite a strong clamping force.
- Much better sound than Bose 700s (cleaner bass) and the Sony XM3 (better mids).
- Great battery life, but they can't work without power.
- Amazing hard case.
- Can play audio via cable with either USB- C or 3.5mm, so if your phone has USB-C, a usbc to usbc cable will get you sound and power.
- 270 degree ear cup rotation.
- The headband is made of forged carbon, which if you aren't used to has almost a "dirty" look to it.
How would you rate the comfort, especially long periods of use?
its good, but not the best after a couple hours I tend to notice the clamping force around my jawline/base of my ear, the bose 700 are a LOT more comfortable in my opinion.
How do they compare with PX? I found that the PX's "thin" ear cups bothered me more than the clamping force.
@tukanglistrik: The cushioning and padding is A LOT better than the PX, there's also more room for your ears.
@Stefce: Thanks, will have to try these out.
What do you mean by this?
"Great battery life, but they can't work without power."Thanks for the review
They last for about 24 hours per charge, however once they are out of battery they don't work like other headphones do where you can plug a cable in and still listen without ANC, they just stop working.
Nice review but nothing about the noise cancelling performance?
Isn't that the primary concern when buying a pair of NC cans?
Also, how is the microphone for calls?
For my ears the ANC is equal to the XM3s or the Bose 700s. The microphone is average frankly, worse than the 700s.
@Stefce how much did you buy these for.
Oh Tivoli Hi-Fi had a 20% off sale for boxing day so I got them for $480.
These are in stock again
Offer extended until 27th Feb
Here a rather objective comparison of these against Sony's XM3: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/sony-wh-1000…
Aside from battery life, these look like inferior or equal to XM3 in all points. According to measurements the sound is worse.
"On par with Sony in sound"
Is that a joke?
