I think Shopping Square is selling these things at the same or lower price on their eBay store on a long term bases.

    Watch out with these!

Mine from last time came CRUSHED in a regular 60c envelope with no protection AND no retail packet, no warranty/hologram/ or ANY kind of documentation.

No way of knowing whether its genuine or a common Hong Kong knock off.

Would NOT recommend to anyone due to inadequate packing and no way of knowing if it is genuine.

Don't like the sound of that. Thanks for the warning.

No worries - pissed me off (well $10 worth of pissed off)

        • Hi Mate, thanks for your post. Have you contacted our customer service ? I am sure if you have, you can either get full refund or replacement. What is your order number please?

G_man, too late for that.. the customer service should have come in the post and packaging :)

G-Man (rep) quote: "Hi Mate, thanks for your post. Have you contacted our customer service ? I am sure if you have, you can either get full refund or replacement. What is your order number please?"

No deal, I prefer for a company to disclose when they are selling knock off - treating customer case by case basis just because they can't tell a difference between genuine or knock off is a shady business IMHO.

    • Shopping Square do the same from their Ebay deal. Now you've got me wondering if its legit.

        • Aren't product warranties suppose to be in writing OEM or non-OEM? Without any documentation (which is one of the points KT made) - how does a user rely on the warranty? "High Quality microSDHC card backed by 1-year limited warranty" (from topbuy) - How does a consumer know what has been "limited" if they have a fault down the road?

I'm not singling out shopbuy with the above as SS does the exact same, but I think KT makes valid points. I certainly was shocked to receive my card in a standard envelope with no documentation what so ever.

        • Aren't product warranties suppose to be in writing OEM or non-OEM?

I am not sure if warranty documentation needs to be included with the product
You can get the information directly from sandisk http://www.sandisk.com/media/147585/smlw_eng.pdf

How does a consumer know what has been "limited" if they have a fault down the road?

          All warranties are "limited"
Limited means that the warranty is limited by time (1 year here), or what is/is not covered (Things like user damage), the items covered or not covered (So the plastic holder may not have any warranty)

What is "limited" will be covered in the sandisk warranty pdf

    • @KingTightarse:

Did you purchase it from TopBuy or Shopping Square or eBay?

    @ G_man

Why don't you address the concerns regarding lack of packaging here in this forum.
The cards are the correct capacity but how can you prove they are the real deal (no packet)?

I am not going to give my order details here, I prefer to keep my online identities separate.

    • @King Tightarse
All items are sent out with nice bubble bags. I don't think there will be any problems with packaging.
By the way, I have just double confirmed with our customer service and all customers get full refund or replacement if they find the items faulty.
Please feel free to let me know what I can do for you by contacting our customer service.

      • Mine came in a 60c paper envelope, I'm sure they all did unless I am "special".
The plastic holder thing was broken as was the envelope.

How do we know the are genuine without the appropriate packet/ hologram ?

How do we know the are genuine without the appropriate packet/ hologram ?

If they hold the right amount of data then they are probably genuine.

Just because it did not come in retail packaging does not make it fake, it was likely an OEM product

        • Hi King Tightarse,

They are 100% genuine. The plastic holder is the standard OEM package. The reason it was broken is that sometimes Australia Post is not gentle enough to deal with deliveries. But don't worry about that, once you contact our people, you can get the perfect replacement.

  • The postage did not get reduced with the code, thanks for wasting my time.

    • Hi Laser, are you paying $10.5 totally for your item?
If you are, please remove the "negative".
The postage dont get reduced but we do reduce the overall price.
      Please double check.

      • +2

Hrm. Unless I missed it you need to rejig your ordering system so that I can get a final price before I move through the checkout process. The delivery price charge calculator is a good move but one should also be able to put in any coupons before hitting checkout.

Really mate, the plastic holder is stock standard for any and all SD cards, whether fake or genuine.
The Hong Kong knock offs are close to perfect looking but there are many ways to fake it. Sometimes they are fake as in less capacity, other times they are fake as in packaged to appear to be a reputable brand while being reject or non-genuine flash memory.

That is why the genuine companies go to so much trouble to package their goods with holograms etc.

If you are going to sell them "OEM" you need to clearly state it in your listing and be prepared prove they are real.

So how common is the problem?
Well, I work with electronics every day and with some components, the relabeling is so rife I actually cannot buy certain components online IE they are almost ALL fake (and perfectly relabeled)

    • That is why the genuine companies go to so much trouble to package their goods with holograms etc.

And even it your SD card comes in a package with holograms it can still be a fake.
Which you said below with this

Well, I work with electronics every day and with some components, the relabeling is so rife I actually cannot buy certain components online IE they are almost ALL fake (and perfectly relabeled)

What sort of products are these?

      • All kind of things,
particularly "classic" components where there are a few more dollars in it: Germanium transistors, BBDs etc.

        • All kind of things,
          particularly "classic" components

That makes sense, the hard to find things that lots of people want

Hi King Tightarse, thanks for your advice again.
If you don't like it, you can skip it directly. But you need to be responsible for what you are saying. They (the SD cards, holders as well as the adapters) are 100% genuine and this is true.

At the same time, before you raise your voice here, you should try to contact our customer service to try to fix the problem. If you don't that, I can see no way to help you.

      Thanks again.

Too late pal, I already bought it and I carefully measure and stand behind every word I type here.
I have no hesitation in telling the truth as I see it for everyone else to read.

You want to sell unpackaged flash memory? Then YOU need to prove its genuine.

  • The 16gb is not $21.50,It's $24.50.

    • With the coupon code provided, the overall price will be $23.5.

I've been burned by Topbuy before. Not keen to give them any of my money, not even $10-$20.

They sold me counterfeit products. Even the picture on their site showed Vapur. I posted a review on their website which was never published.

I'd give a negative vote based on the fact that they have conned OZBargainers before.

  • Sorry - not buying from Topbuy again

  • Unable to prove genuine Sandisk and @ tatasauce >"I'd give a negative vote based on the fact that they have conned OZBargainers before." = neg for me also.

  • Buyer beware!

  • The dodginess is terrific, I must say I had a better opinion of Topbuy before reading this deal and its comments. Would I buy now from Topbuy? Probably not!
