usb 3.0 makes buying larger external drives at this price a good deal unless you have a mac and can't take advantage of the speeds (there's a dongle for that).

    $104 delivered express post here:
    http://www.skycomp.com.au/item/HP-3-5-inch--SIMPLESAVE-2TB-E…

You can usually get this drive delivered for $107-110 elsewhere online, so it isn't really a deal tbh.

    edit: Accidently +'d :\

    • it's not 3.0

      msy has 2tb usb3 samsung $114

Yeah just noticed sorry. Wish I could delete that comment now.

Good deal on 2TB USB 3.0.

  • Does it require power point? (I'm assuming it does but just want to confirm thanks)

    • need not to ask, it's a 3.5" so it does require a power point

      • Thanks, I know 3.5" drives require a power point but i couldn't find anywhere that said it was a 3.5" drive.

        • +3

i managed to find wishful thinking all over your remark, if that helps?

        • Of course it's a 3.5" drive. The maximum size of (commonly available) 2.5" drives is 1TB.

If it's a 2.5" drive, then the supplier will "advertise" it.

        • @llama So do you not count seagate as "commonly available"? They've been selling 2.5" 1.5Tb for a while now…. but they're the only ones strangely.

      Does it require power point?

I so read that wrong at first.

I've got to stop using Microsoft Office so much.

  • edit: what's the drive inside ? WD ?

    • +3

If that bothers you, you should really consider buying your own drive and putting it in a 3.0 enclosure, it's cheaper. :P

  • Starts 31 August - Ends 06 September

  • Site lists it out of stock and most stores are saying low stock or out of stock as well.

    http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/computers-office/drives-s…

    • +1

I suspect they have plenty of these and the stock levels will be updated on their website once the sale starts on 31 August.

      • Well hopefully it isn't just another one of those sales to get rid of remaining stock.

        • +3

Isn't that usually the very point of a sale? :o

        • +3

True, true, but I meant hopefully they wouldn't be listing this as a sale when they're already sold out store-wide with only like 10 left across all their stores.

HP not doing any fire sale on this for $0.99? :D

    • Yea Lol, not a bargain for HP product, haha.

  • hmmm.. I wonder if Officeworks will price match

    • Well, seeing as their website doesn't show that they stock it.. no.

  • great price! picking this up for sure!

  • After reading reviews on amazon…I decided not to buy it.
It seems its software is just piece of crap.

    • +1

Who says you have to use their Software?

  • 4:20am August 31st now and it's out of stock…

    • It was never in stock. I looked at 1 am. Why im up so early.. i dont know :D

  • +1

    Found this under their T&C's.

  • all gone.

  • Click find in store and type your postcode

I rang up my local Big W and they have 8 left

  • It's "Made in THAILAND"

    • +2

I would rather choose Made in Thailand than Made in China

      • You do realise that a lot of mainstream products are made in China? For instance, a lot of the Apple products. There's more made in China stuff that you probably use than you know!

      • _< made in china is now mainstream quality standard

  • +1

One left on shelf Eastland Vic.

  • Next week the 1TB is $64!

very good catalogue next week at bigw.

  • Western Digital 2 TB elements desktop USB 2.0 hard drive in Officeworks for $98.
Good for those that don't have USB3 - that's Apple users out there, and all those others with older computers.
    Available in store and online

  • good value - bought one from Kawana Sunshine Coast - I think there may be 1 or 2 left still
