Illumination Visual Software Creator - Pay Whatever You Want above $US5. Normally $US49.95

120

This visual programming environment can compile code to run natively on various platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, Android, Flash, Windows Phone 7, HTML5, WebOS and more.

Version 4.0 is overdue and so the programmer is saying the current version is available for whatever you like (well, really $US5 and up) until version 4.0 comes out, and that 4.0 will be a free upgrade. See http://blog.radicalbreeze.com/?p=172 - I don't know when this runs out as I don't know how soon the new version will come out.

I haven't used this software, but I've seen some decent reviews on the web (google it). It seems to be actively developed and getting much better with each release.

  • Not really worth $5 if you're not going to use it, but if you were looking at the demo and enjoying it, go ahead :D

  • Thanks for the bargain and explanation, interesting!

$5+ is not "whatever you want".
See "Humble Indy Bundle" for how the concept should work.

Doesn't help that the product is a waste of time either.

I think that's why I very clearly put $5+ - it's whatever you want above $5 - updated in title to make it less likely to attract more trolls.

Whether it's a waste of time is up to the individual, but it is still clearly within the definition of a bargain, as it is 10% of the normal price.

    • Why does that warrant a negative vote then?

  • Thanks. Is it really possible to create a software/app without knowing how to program one? :)

I doubt it's as simple as they make out, I tried the demo version and it's still in it's infancy. Google made one called "Inventor" that was better in my opinion. There is a new version 4.0 that is meant to come out soon, though.

  • mmm it crashed on me :(

Great show of responsibility from the author, but I think Scratch or App Inventor would be more mature and have more traction, not to mention free. Though I suppose there are other considerations as well, e.g. Scratch is mostly for children, and App Inventor might not support the same platforms as this.

Well, I paid up my $5, simply on the basis it can target android and iphone. For little more than the cost of a cup of coffee its worth having a play.

  • Version 4.0 software is now up on the site for upgrade from this version.
