Calibre Multimeter Pro (UT195E) $64 + Shipping or Store Pickup @ Supercheap Auto

270

Hey folks this Calibre Multimeter is a rebranded Uni-T meter the model number is UT195E. Its supposed to be a decent meter and offers heaps of features for the price while still being CAT rated.

Looks to be made by Uni-trend to rival the Fluke and Brymen meters at the $200 price range. I had a UT139C it was feature packed and built well.

The UT195E is originally $199 at Supercheapauto and is now $99.99.

On Ebay and Aliexpress they are around $150 AUD.

You have to be a club member to get early access to this clearance sale but after the 10th the deal will be available to every one. Or sign up to be a club member and i think you get $5 credit.

HKJ done a review of this meter and said it was good.

  • How is this one compare to those ones from ebay for $10?

      • +10

An appallingly ignorant and misleading comment. It is dangerous to work with mains voltages with a cheap multimeter. The UNI-T is genuinely CATIII/CATIV rated.

        • +2

Most people are not working with mains voltages they are just testing a battery. $10 one is fine for most people.

      • This guy has no idea. Ignore.

      • And create more landfill! Wow great attitude!

      • Absolute moron. You risk your lives and your equipment by using those super cheap meters. Would never touch them.

    • Go watch the videos on Joe's channel and see what happens when you put to much voltage through a cheap multimeter and it explodes.

      • Nope, my el cheapo one didn't explode, just the fuse blowed out

    • If you care about accuracy, circuit protection, personal protection, and additions features then you would not buy those cheap multimeters.
If you are going to measure a few batteries and don't need precision, and are happy to contribute to landfill very time a cheap multimeter dies then those cheap ones will give you ballpark measurement at volt scale, their longevity will be based on average quality control, and what protection they will offer will be questionable (need to open them up and inspect).

I wasted hours on a repair as a cheap meter was giving random resistance readings, meter was faulty. You use a meter to diagnose and the last thing you need is to be second guessing it…or worse trust it. Get a good meter and rest assured.

    • +1

Tolerance. Cheap ones are highly inaccurate to borderline unusable.

Just for reference, a Fluke 15B+ is $120 on eBay with less functions as this. If the tolerance for this is good then this deal is decent.

    • you get what you paid for.

    • My $10 multimeter doesnt turn off half the time and the 9v battery doesnt fit in the compartment. its also a volatile pos.

  • Was considering a decent Fluke. Is this a one good enough to change my mind? Just normal daily use, but I hope it could have nice and easy features.

Depending on what you are looking to do … have a look at this:
      https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/technical-multimeter-…

This does seem like a reasonable meter but have a look at the tear down link that I posted below to get a better idea.

      • Thanks for the sharing. The link is very helpful! I think this rebranded UT195E pretty much suits every need I have so order placed. Happy about it! Cheers~

    • Hard to say unless I have used it.
Feature wise it looks similar to my Brymen BM257 but the Brymen is not IPX rated.
Plus the Brymen is almost 100 dollars more.
Generally speaking most Uni-T gear is decent and built good.
A popular Uni-T meter is the UT61E maybe read some comments on that meter as it explains general pros and cons of Uni-T.

      • Thanks for the comparison. Pulled the trigger at last. It should meet my needs. Cheers!

    • Same review as the one linked. Except that's HKJs website but it's a pain to navigate.

  • If people want cat iii there are cheaper uni-t options $45, in this one cost is driven up by true RMS and bar graphs ….which most home users checking batteries and PowerPoints and buzzing wiring don't need .

    • You referring to the UNI-T UT139C? I'm after a decent battery to measure my car battery. Was looking at the Fluke 15B+ but that go for like $120 on eBay.

  • Uni-T is decent value and this is a bargain. the only issue is no stock due to clearance model.

SCA Club price listed this as $64 in checkout. + postage of 11.95 = total of $75.95.
Seems like a good deal to me. Thanks OP

    • Didn’t even blink at $64, no brainer for me not having one yet.

  • Cheers OP, needed a new multimeter for my classes.

If you pay the $5 for the Club membership it comes down to $64, for a total of $69 plus shipping, making it a steal

  • $70 posted is cheap. Don't need it. Haven't used my $10 one since I bought it years ago. Still, I might buy this

  • Yep i goofed up i was not logged in and i thought the $99 was the discount lol. The meter is $64 that's a really good price half teh cost of Ebay and Aliexpress.
The price will be $64 for every one not just club members in a few days.

I would buy it just for the bar graph lol.

Just got this DMM yesterday and I have to say it's pretty good, almost a little overkill for what I use it for (car electrical, electronics, DC stuff)

    • The meter is much bigger than I expected it. The largest DMM I've used were Fluke ones at work and this is like 1.5 times bigger, but it's is more sturdy and IP rated.

    • Voltage defaults to AC first rather than DC. Should have read up on this more, but it is a meter designed for electricians working with mains or larger voltages, so defaulting to AC is normal. For someone who works with DC more this is a small inconvenience but I can live with it.

    • Doesn't have electric field detection. Not a big deal for me as I work less with AC, but something to consider.

    • Screen is big and easy to read, auto backlight is great, the flashlight at the back comes in handy

I think I should have got the UT139C instead, but for around $20 more over the 139C, and half the normal price for the UT195E, I couldn't pass on it.

    • Thanks for the review. Was on the fence but decided not to get it now that I know it defaults to AC. Cheers!

    • When i bought my UT139C about 4 years ago it cost me about the same as this meter. SCA sell the UT139c for $82 but it can be found for like $50-60.
Also this meter doesn't have temp function?
The UT139C is also a big meter bigger than the BM257.

  • Type on the box.

  • So I got mine in recently.
It appears to be partially faulty. Switching between AC and DC occasionally works. Most of the time it just beeps when pressing the button to switch and does nothing.
Also switching between mv and V doesnt work all the time either.

    Anyone else have this?

  • This is now $51.20 (+$9.5 shipping, not in stock)

Since my last post, I actually exchanged the UT195E for got the SCA UT139C that's on sale now. At $62.39, it's a few bucks more than eBay, but it's a stocked item at most SCA right now.

I found the UT139C more suitable for my usage, working with DC voltages more and I'm not an electrician that needs a CAT rated meter. The UT139C has DCV reading as default (UT195E has ACV as default), has thermocouple for temperature measurement, and it's got a NCV (electric field detection). Everything else it pretty similar, bar IP rating and higher CAT rating. Meter is a little smaller, which is great, cos the found UT195E to be huge.

I do miss the bar graph display, the auto backlight sensor, the flashlight, and a case (no case for the UT139C!), but the UT139C is just better for me.
