While I personally hate Soundbars and would only recommend them when you absolutely can't fit anything else…. the one thing they seem to have done is bring the price down of receivers…. Wasn't long ago you'd have to pay around $600 for an entry model.

Though it's absolutely killed the second hand market…. I remember struggling to sell 2 4k (non hdcp) Denon receivers and it was a huge struggle.

    • Hmmm. Good point. I was thinking of trying to sell my old Denon AVR-3801, from 2001,i think. It has no Hdmi. Might be no point selling it when new amps like this 5.1 has newer tech in it.

Without HDMI, yeah forget it. It'd hurt you getting what you'll probably get offered.

You'd also be looking for a niche among niches.

The resale on receivers is unbelievably bad.

When hdmi was the new norm, the non hdmi models were often in Cash Converters for around $150ish. I remember getting a few for my dad/friends. So imagine what they got them for then…

Use that Denon as a power amp

  • Also the same price at Harvey Norman.

      Aren't they the same company?

  • Amazing price. Back in 2016, we were looking at an entry-level receiver, and the cheapest Yamaha we could find was $327 @ HN (HTR-2067).

  • Wow that's damn cheap. Normally you'd need to go chifi for cheap amps like the ad18. But for $10 more this has a ton more features and channels

    Shows as $449 now
