      Is there an annual fee in Victoria though? QLD has one upfront price to buy the combination and then rego costs are the same each year irrespective of a personalised or state issued plate.

    Yeah, I find it ridiculous how varied the pricing and rules differ in each state. QLD is crazy expensive for plates.
    NSW is also ridiculous asking an ongoing fee.

    A true ozbargainer would not pay extra for custom plates.

      I think the spirit of OzBargain is about the best deal for what you want not buying the cheapest option available.

        custom plates are purely for aesthetics. but yes, as i wrote, it's cheaper than the standard price.
