  • Sweet, one of mine’s stick became sticky. Thanks OP

I don't know what happens to the thumb pads but they go disgustingly sticky. Had one that wasn't used for ages and now they're like glue.

      • +2

Have had that issue before with other controllers. Try wiping it with some isopropyl alcohol. Ebay has it cheap and bulk.

        • Funny enough I just had a delivery of Isopropyl Alcohol via eBay this week. Got mine from Sydney Solvent (I have no association with them) - about $19 for 1L delivered.
Jaycar also do a 250ml spray bottle for a bit under $10 if there's a store nearby.

      Sticky eh?

  • Cashback as well makes it a pretty good deal.

Brand new $49; and EB has preowned for $59… lol

  • Some of the reviews at the bottom are saying it’s a refurb or fake.

Can anyone confirm is brand new and genuine?

Xbox controllers needs to go on sale like this more often…. continues waiting

    • Agreed… Got a brand new Xbox one s controller + a generic branded wired controller from one of the closing down EB stores for $79, so that was a good deal. Besides that, we don't get much pickings.

      • -6

yeah at least xbox controller hold value I guess? It’s like apple vs android

        • +6

Sure pal… keep telling yourself that.

I picked up the minecraft pig controller for w9 bucks from JB which I think was the cheapest a genuine One controller has ever been.

I got a wired PDP for 20 bucks from Big W closing down, not sure if they are any good but it was half price so can't complain (still in the box).

  • Ordered one

  • Got one, thanks

  • Bought one translucent for around this price by Xmas. Was so happy about it until the right joy stick started to drift like crazy. Satisfaction turned to frustration as my old and only PS4 controller never had such issue since by my side from 2013. Returned and refunded. Now won't pull the trigger in any situation as PS5 is just on the front door. Money saved.

    • I have the same drifting problem with the controller that came with my PS4 Pro I purchased a few months ago. I couldnt really return the controller alone to EB Games but they suggested a local repair shop which I will try on the weekend.

      • i recommend trying some dyi solutions before taking it in store, it may be as simple as dust affecting it, something small like that, try some things before taking it into a store.

        • +1

If this doesn't work, you definitely can return it alone. It's under warranty.

          • @367: And surely going straight to Sony should make life easy for that?

            • @Jackson: I can't remember the exact information the employee at EB gave me but it all entailed costs to send the item back for warranty and he also recommended a popular local repair shop as another option. I thought that was odd so I will dig around for some details and possibly contact Sony directly. Appreciate the advice.

              • @WorkingLowJam: EB employee sounds clueless. If you bought it from them and it's gone faulty in a couple of months, you hand the controller back to them and tell them to get it fixed or replaced under warranty.
If the employee doesn't like that, ask to speak to the manager. F*****g retailer needs to do their job.

        • Thanks, I'll have another play around, all I really tried was a hard reset. Apart from that the controller is clean and relatively unused.

  • The EU should legislate backward compatibility for controllers. Absolutely no reason this can't be done in this day and age.

Would be good for business too, they would save a shit load of money, consoles could be a whole 50 bucks cheaper, and people could be more inclined to upgrade to the new version of their existing one. Not to mention saving carbon, landfill etc

    • What controllers are you saying should have backwards compatibility?

The ps3, ps2 and ps1 controllers would be useless in ps4 games.

      • -2

Really? I don't have a PS4 and haven't played one, controller looks the same to me except for a small touch pad. Xbox one and 360 on the other hand is very similar, but I get that they may not have been Bluetooth in the past but now they are.

Nintendo at least did this between the game cube, wii and wii u, it's not that hard

        • You don't own one and you are commenting about them in a ps4 thread.. maybe do some research next time.

The PS4 controller has motion controls, the touch button, a speaker and the touchpad, many games rely on various functions like these.

I won't comment on xbox because I don't have one.

Nintendo were pretty much required to have backwards compatibility because both the Wii and Wii U don't come with a regular controller which means you need to either use an older controller or buy an overpriced pro controller.

While I understand your point, I think the main issue is game developers needing to create their games for different controllers from old generations, if they don't change the controller I agree they should support it.

          • -2

@samfisher5986: This has absolutely zero to do with game developers and everything to do with companies not providing backward compatibility. The fact is that touch buttons and the like are gimmicks, and the controller hasn't really changed much since the NES, with analogue sticks being probably the biggest change. And regarding not commenting without owning one, you can't be serious? People make a living on commenting on cars, computers, whatever they don't own all the time. If you aren't up for hearing others points of view, maybe you should be thinking about not being on a forum?
