  • example prices in title?

    dang these are expensive. wew

    • +1

Cheapest will be 94.50 with the code. So just buy two Aldi ones I guess.

      • you mean $184 with code? im not seeing any for $94.50

        • +1

          Yup that's it.

  • yeah these ones are expensive but i dont know if they are better than the ones coming to aldi

i dont really know anything on this type of stuff so was hoping someone could shed some light on it xD

worth paying the extra $100ish dollars for this high quality one, or just get the questionable $90 aldi one?

    • +1

How do you know the Aldi one isn't better??

  • other codes:
    THERAPY100
    F156D078

can't use together, and newyears is better

    this one looks quite good
thanks op for telling me about it
ive been planning to make one for years

    • It seems very small? 1.2m by 2m?

      • oh i see - so a bit narrower than a single then

        • +1

          actually be careful this therapyblanket.com.au place's 'queen' is only 152 x 203

queen is generally defined as 200 x 200

so again, narrower than you'd expect

          • @bargain huntress: They're supposed to be like a…blanket topper situation, from what I've read, and aren't meant to hang over any edges.

      • it says 1.2 by 1.98

    • +1

yeah that is the one i was trying to compare to

aldi seems kind of hit or miss to me with their specials products

and i would prefer once for my queen sized bed so i single wouldnt work as well

      • this one is only 30cm wider

i'm not sure that's worth twice the price

we could buy two aldi ones and sew them together for the same price?

        • From what I've read on them that say your better off having one per person. Maybe the weight doesn't distribution doesn't work as well over two people?

          • @staceyasinme: yes possibly
but what if you're a big person? a lot of these are made for kids so as a fat adult i'm wondering how much width i would need to cocoon myself

    • +1

Went to my local Aldi at noon, they sold out at opening.

  • +1

They constantly have 50% off sales. Haven't seen them at full price since before black friday sales.

    • thanks, i only just saw this site now so wasnt sure if it was a rare or regular occurance

  • Does anyone know how to wash these??

    • they have removable covers
washing the insides is possible but difficult because of the weight

    • -2

      no

  • Costco is also doing weighted blankets, at Docklands, but I’m not sure of the price.

  • +1

Kinda weird the way there are a bunch of 5-star reviews accompanied by photos of kids/people asleep under this blanket.

    • +6

"My kid used to float around the room while asleep, now look at him"

      • +2

Someone needs to get on there and leave a review as a mafia boss, "…less messy than concrete…"

  • There's cheaper weighted blankets on Kogan: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/giselle-bedding-cotton-weighted…

It uses the therapeutic power of Deep Touch Pressure Simulation (DTPS) to stimulate pressure points throughout the body, thereby contributing to enhanced sleep, mood and relaxation. Our weighted blanket is engineered to be between 8% and 15% of your body weight to relax the nervous system by simulating the feeling of being hugged or held. This boosts serotonin and melatonin levels and decreases cortisol levels improving your heart rate and blood pressure. In short, you get healthier sleep and awake feeling refershed and re-invigorated.

Is it weighted by all the bullshit it comes with?

    • ooo thanks

Any idea on the warmth on these or the aldi ones? i generally prefer cooler quilts / blankets, i warm up quite easily.

    • +1

I have one of these and…it's pretty warm. You might have better luck using it without the cover, but I used it even with the cottony side touching me and it's pretty much impossible if the temperature is above 23 degrees in the room.

Similar product available at Spotlight, $96 for 152 x 203 cm

    Thank u Temple Grandin

    • is it quite as good as a hug machine though?
even the name makes me happier

  • +1

I have one of these (it was a gift). It's not a blanket you can use if it's anything approaching warm, even with the cottony cover. I haven't tried it without the cover cause I've no idea how to wash it if I do that.
I actually had to exchange mine because I got the weight they recommend for my body weight, but I am pressure sensitive and need the lightest option (7kg for the queen size?). Please consider your individual pressure sensitivity when selecting weight. ALSO it's very difficult to put into the cover/move around due to the floppy weight situation.
I would recommend getting a larger size one, because you don't have to worry about coming uncovered in the night. It's especially essential if you are plus size.
I personally do find I sleep better with the blanket and possibly fall asleep more quickly.

I had this, but returned due to bad quality: Stitches were coming off and the “beads” were more like sand rather than beads and tended to clump into a ball instead of being distributed.

  • +1

    so many options now

ALDI, Spotlight, Kogan, therapy blankets, and another site i found called calming blankets

getting harder and harder to decide xD

    • I wonder if Aldi would include the blankets in their returns policy…?

I bought the Neptune Solace blanket for ~ $67 during Black Friday sales for a 7kg one. I chose this after reading reviews on the cheaper ones from Spotlight etc vs Neptune brand / other reputable weighted blanket brands. The comment that made me choose Neptune over any others is in this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/461904/amp

I found that Neptune Solace is slightly smaller and less “plush” material than their “normal” one which is why it is cheaper. But the Solace blanket is actually same size as the other reputable big name brand ones. Right now only 11kg up is available and is about ~$80 with their current promo. They regularly have sales, so far the biggest discount I’ve seen was 25% off (which is when I bought), but I see 20% off regularly from them. I’d recommend that over any of the cheap ones. You can even go to their showroom in Taren Point if you’re in Sydney.

  • for the poor and/or skilled there is always the diy option
