According to their site;
How much will tree service cost?
It really depends on the type and size of tree, the service, and any special working conditions. If special machinery such as cherry pickers are required you can expect it to cost more.
Tree pruning, removal, maintenance – quotes start from $250
Stump removal – quotes start from $100
Power line clearance, hazard reduction – quotes start from $250
Having often worked around arborists on job sites I can tell you that you should add an extra zero to those prices for most jobs ;)
It really depends on access, size, and complexity.
"Quotes start from $250" refers to job that has easy access, is usually a relatively small tree that can be carried easily in parts. There are costs involved with getting the equipment ready, transit, and insurances that are included in the minimum costs.
If you want the best deal possible with any arborist - I suggest talking to neighbours and organising multiple jobs on the same street over the day (or a couple of days). You then ask for a day rate and see how the team can knock over. :)
Hope that helps!
Stump removal – quotes start from $100
That's for roses.
I just had a 20m gum removed. (Not with these blokes) Trunk about 800mm dia and it cost me $2600 including stump grinding and they used a climber but didn't need a crane. They took all the smaller branches and foliage up to about 100mm dia and I am getting rid of the sawn logs.
There are so many variables which affect the quote though. If they can fell the tree it's cheaper, if you keep the timber it's cheaper etc
Good tips.
If you keep the timber and/or mulch it is cheaper as arborists have to take it to the tip. Even better if you tell them they can leave it where it falls as long as they've cut it up in manageable pieces that you can move. Most arborists are concerned about their backs and knees and if you can reduce the wear on tear on them they'll love you forever. :)
Any job that involves a crane or boom lift you'll have to add $200 /hr with float. Jobs like that get expensive real fast.
Our local Tree Removal Service is $100 cheaper !!!
Impressive. You should definitely use them.
Mr Beast would neg this deal!
No bargain listed - we don't know how your prices compare to others, so impossible to judge.

Rep agrees with you and recommends using another company.
Missed the /s on that post.
Thought the sarcasm was obvious…
sarcasm, the surest way to business success and wealth
The way these work is whatever the discount is they add to the initial quote lol . I get too many of these offers in my junk mail form highly intelligent marketing tradies . Normally start with 3 figures like $100 or $200 off for more appeal supposedly :)
The simple solution is to get three different free quotes and compare. Maybe Sydney Tree Removals will quote the cheapest, maybe they won't. If they are the cheapest, you now get an extra $50 off. Isn't horrible. If you have a best way we can structure a promotional offer for our industry we are all ears. Seriously - need some help!!! This is hard!!

M8 I've been going up my street doorknocking trying to find if any of my neighbours want to join me in a giant bonfire and we can roast marshmallows .
Incomparable service
No specific bargain listed,
Neg vote as this is an advert
An extra $50 off after you have been quoted is a fair deal. It is really the only kind of offer that this type of service can make, without the risk of them inflating the quote.
Yes it’s rocket science to add $50 to all your quotes !
But you don't have to tell them prior to receiving the quote, and if they add $50 to all quotes they will be less competitive all the time.
@mskeggs: Doh, accidentally negged you, meant to plus this. the OP has even said:
I agree, "The simple solution is to get three different free quotes and compare."
not sure whats with all the hate…
@wisc: Prices for trade services are highly variable.
OzB is pretty busy and there are 10+ pages of new deals in a few days.
They are also very location specific .. unless the company is national. Not saying the OP does this, but tradies can inflate the quote if they wanted to.
Im not keen on seeing lots of this type of deals in future:
10% off callout fee at Handy Handyman
$10 off plumbing invoice
13% off one time mowing services
Like wedding photography, removalists, professional cleaning, the value/bargain on these services is just hard to quantify.
Once they proliferate, it'll be like those Amazon retailers selling very niche items - clutter everywhere
LOL I just had 4 trees plus stumps removed for $1500. Not that big or complex, guys did it in 3 hours. No way you are going to remove a tree for $250 unless it is a rose like jv stated before.
Don't forget they'll give you $50 off the total, regardless… Even if they charged you $5000 to remove your 4 tree stumps…
Yep, and I also forgot to say that I already cut one of the trees almost to the stump, so it was like 3 trees plus a stump.
I don't see an actual bargain here. A bargain implies a specific financial saving off a documented/known price. Unless the company can specify an exact cost that we can refer to, then there is no actual saving.
No bargin listed.
What's a bargin?
bar gin?
Have to join the neg train here.
Saving is there but no price listed. Store rep is making a laugh out of themselves for running a business with sarcasm.
The deal is straightforward and unlike some "deals" doesn't require mention of the discount prior to payment. THAT type of offering should always be treated with skepticism.
Good luck finding any decent insured arborist who will provide a simple fixed cost to fit your idea of what a deal is. The poster has been very helpful. His sarcasm was warranted. Anyone having to deal with the inanity of particular OzBargainers deserves a medal not a neg. As we found out from experience cheapest isn't necessarily best - especially if you want trees professionally pruned without being ruined. It's a simple task to get a few quotes.
This deal has me stumped…
Let me grind it then
But if Op grinds it, we'll get $50 off!
I had 5 quotes for removing and grinding 3 trees a few months ago. All were insured.
$5000 from a guy in a swish ute.
$1800 from the guy who got the job.
$2500
$2300
$1500
$50 in this case is meaningless. Shop around.
Tbf I don't think a swish ute is a bad thing, it may mean that the guy is well established, successful and hard working.
Or it could also mean that the tradie always overcharges, and just looks for the 1-in-10 people who have no idea what a tradie should cost.
I have recently seen some truly outrageous prices quoted by tradies - installing a new hot water service, I was quoted roughly $900+$900 for the HWS+installation by one group, and $2800+$900 by a second group, for the exact same brand and model of HWS. I was replacing a gas instant HWS with a stainless steel electric storage unit.
$50 off a ? price. I don't see the deal here, especially when no comparison can be made prior to engagement or completion of such a service/deal. This should go in the forums as it comes across as more of business promotion than an actual deal.
What is the budget range to remove a large tree?
