Thanks it was been this price before I believe in December with the same lightning deal.
Only concern with the AD200 is that the flash output isn't high enough for outdoor portraits/shooting into the sun… which is why I'm a bit hesitant.
How do you find yours?
I use the Godox AD600BM version to overpower the sun, 200W is not powerful enough when you factor in the loss of power via a modifier and/or remote head.
Just aim for a shoot outside of the middle of the day and youll be fine. Truth be told, I don't like the hard distracting shadows you get at midday anyway, which is why pro shooters use a large expensive scrim above the subject to dim and scatter the sunlight.
Cool info - that's why I was leaning a bit towards the AD400 initially… best of both worlds. Enough power for most jobs and can also be used outdoors for portraits (although probably not in midday harsh sun) and not as heavy/bulky/expensive as the AD600.
Also noting you do need to factor in price for monopod/stand, modifier and a wireless trigger
I bought it in the previous sale, with the wireless remote (you would need it) and can't be happier. It was (still is) my frist strobe, and for starting its pretty good.
It will overpower the sun depending of the time of the day :) or you can always buy 2 and the adaptor, they say a AD400 is better for that, but this makes possible to have 2 lights if you need it.
Im really debating if im buying another one or not… i just need to shoot more xD
Any sample shots from the AD200 outdoors with the sun?
@cyrax83: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlla-uZeKFc this one will show you the difference from flashlight up to a powerful one :)
@cholas: Thanks.. decided to wait for a deal on AD400…
@cyrax83: is to overkill for me, but always a good option :) I will probably go for a second one and https://www.amazon.com.au/Godox-AD-B2-Flashpoint-Together-Cl…
How small these things run now. Still remember my Alien Bees kits with mono blocks / modifiers / Battery pack / stand which required an assistant to lug around all day.
This is very tempting…
Is this better value ?https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F173040293021
Tempted to upgrade my gordox speedlights
This one is not the pro version, though there is not like a huge amount of differences
that is the AD200, this bargain is for an AD200 Pro.
I have both and pair them on teh same channel they're that alike. I cannot tell the difference to be honest. i share the batteries, bulb/fresnel heads, mounts interchangeably with the older model.
There's the better recycle time and more stable colour temperature but not so huge that I'd write home about.
also re: trigger, don't buy the cheaper x-1t trigger if you intend on using multiple channels. when you use multiple flashes it's a goddamn nightmare to navigate the fiddly adjustments and very sensitive jog wheel.
the newer XPro and x2t triggers have a more sensible wheel and dedicated channel buttons and cost at least twice as much as the horrible one.
If i'm out with 1 flash and leave it on TTL, I don't care about frequently changing settings. In that scenario, you would get away with comfortably using the x-1t. That said, one of my x-1t AF assist beams just plain stopped working, so there's that.
What's better - X2T or XPro? XPro seems to be $10 more
Ahh man.. spewing I missed this one (>.<)
Wait a sec.. $410 on Tecobuy
https://www.tecobuy.com/en_AU/godox-ad200pro-ttl-pocket-flas…
Has anyone had any experience buying from them?
+$15 shipping
I didn't buy the AD200Pro, but I did buy the X2T-S Trigger for $65 shipped which I thought was a decent deal
Going to hold out for the AD400Pro
Ahh.. Cheers for the info.
Is there a deal on for that? Heaps bigger unit and much more expensive from what I can see.
No deal on it as of yet. Cheapest I can see is $729 shipped from Toby Deals or $716 shipped from Tecobuy. These don't come with GST invoice and warranty from overseas I'm guessing.
If travelling overseas, Ted's has it for $950. If they have another 15% off sale, it would come to $807.50. Claiming the GST back would get you down to $734, which would be good for local stock/warranty
If this is your first monolight, i suggest buy this one because you will need budget left to buy a modifier for it like:
* magmods
* or a larger modifier like a softbox or beauty dish (and a strong mount to hold it such as an s-bracket)
have fun and enjoy!
ps I bought mine for $440, your post is the best ever pricing for it!!
