  • They are kind of rebranding Heos back to just straight Denon apparently. Good price on all the Heos gear right now at Harvey Norman by the looks, could be because of that. Heos Homecimema HS2 is getting replaced by Denon dst-s516h which is identical. Heos bar is getting replaced by Denon dst-s716h. As far as I know nothing else changed other than the name.

    • But is it decent?

      • The soundbars I don't really know. I will need one myself in 6 months or so.
I have two Heos 5 and a Heos Link so it makes sense to stay in this path. It all works flawlessly for me, except that it only integrates fully with Alexa and not Google home. If starting from scratch maybe a bunch of Alexas or Googles would work now days though for the multi room listening side of things.

      • I have the original HomeCinema HS1, great soundbar and the sub is decent. Decent sound stage and pretty good musically as well but wanted more so I added two Heos 5 as rear fill and it worked out pretty well. Went on to upgrade to a proper home theatre with this as second home theatre set up.

  • Is the subwoofer wireless ?

    • +2

yes it pairs automatically when powered on by an internal bluetooth connection.

  • What's a good alternative under ~$300?

  • Just bought a 65 inch Sony TV, would this be a good fit for the price range? Looking to play spotify off my phone as well and want it for both applications. Loud enough for a decent sized living room? Have always lived in small apartments so never had a anything bigger than a small bose speaker.

  • Heos sucks if you use Apple Music or Google Music as neither are supported by wifi. You can use bluetooth though which isn't ideal.

Actually doesn't support the Youtube app either.

    • +1

This HEOS Homecinema HS2 model is the only HEOS product that actually does support Apple Airplay 2 (for Apple Music playback, outside of the HEOS App) on WIFI.

      • OK thanks. I use Heos for my Denon amp which I regret buying now.

Should have done more homework before buying.

    • Just connect a $40 chromecast and you are done.

I have a sony soundbar that has it built in, but its so out of date now as the firmware updates have stopped so its unreliable.
