Had this added to my wishlist while I was looking for a mobo, ended up bought one from Scorptec eBay for $324 just before Christmas.

Price has been slowly dropping until this morning it shows sub $300.

Review on this board is pretty good for a X570 board at this price. The problems for me though is it lacks of a front USB C connector, and the onboard RGB doesn't always work as you would like.

why? ROG series have great VRM cooling and features.

I think this is one of the motherboards that buildzoid recommended during his X570 videos

      • +18

Trust me, you should never trust anyone that says, trust me.

        • +3

Based on your own advice, I dont trust you. You can trust me about that.

    • Interesting, what would you recommend? I'm currently buying parts for a Ryzen 3600 - Need mobo/gpu (1660ti I'm thinking)/cpu have the rest. Don't do much gaming but more so want to run heavy apps and multitasking, plex etc. What would you recommend away from Asus, keeping budget in mind?

This board is best entry lvl board for x570 in alot of review. I bite a bullet and pay $50 more for asrock Taichi because I am suckers for rgb. I assume alot of people gonna say save your money and buy x470 or even b450.

        • Thanks for that, rgb isn't important to me but I see the lure and fully support spending more for what you want. I've just been a bit hesitant with older boards due to the flash requirement and some apparent compatibility issues.. Vague I know but I'd rather stick the new gen cpu with the new gen mobo (so for me paying more for that is important) Cheers for tha advice

This kind of broad, brand-based advice is silly. Asus, like all other brands, have good and bad models in their lineup. Check trustworthy reviews for specific models you are considering. The advice above about checking Buildzoid's take on this board is good. "Herp derp <insert brand here> sux" is not.

        • Thanks mate, trust me grain of salt, it's interesting to canvas all opinions with what they find as a good board than make a decision based off it all as you say. I was and am still aiming for this Asus board but interesting to see the alternatives and what they can offer instead. Really missed my chance during the Computer Alliance 20% ebay sales. Need to buy something soon as other parts are loweing in value! But thanks again for the advice

        • That's true I've had really expensive Asus boards like striker 2 etc go bad but cheap ones perfectly stable. Only two brands that let me down in my lifetime have been ASRock and Asus but my sample size is so small per model I can't really say if it's just bad luck.

          Doesn't mean I won't buy Asus

      • I grabbed a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro Wifi ATX for $339 from MSY. Not on their website. Good price for a good MB.

This was only true for their B450 motherboards as they were overpriced. But the X570 lineup from ASUS is actually one of the best you can buy right now.

    • They were highly regarded and has some power delivery issues/limitations I believe for a while, unsure which chipset or socket it was specifically but I believe they are back ontop of their game again.

I believe was only an issue with heavy overclocking, but happy to be proven wrong.

    • Trust me: you don't want to buy Asus motherboards.

You literally only want to buy ASUS mobos.

They ship the most desktop motherboards annually out of all the leading OEMs and they've have the lowest RMA rate for years now.

I'm really interested to hear which brand you'd recommend as an alternative.

Trust me : you don't want to trust Diji1

  • Value for money, this board is in the sweetspot at RRP. So this is a great price for a decent x570 board with wifi.

    • For an almost $300 motherboard that you'd want to last a while, I'd really be missing front-panel USB type-C.

      • Took me sometime to find a solution (could be) although I haven't install it. Anyone interested, search "Silverstone ECU02".

I would have gone for a different board if I had done more research.

If you were considering a B450 board, i can highly recommend the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max. Running a 3700x in mine. All of MSI's "Max" branded boards are compatible with the 3000 series out of the box. Ofcourse it depends on what else you're looking for in terms of ports/features etc.

Stay clear of the budget X570 boards from MSI though, they've got a bad rap in relation to VRM cooling.

    • That MSI B450 is I believe regularly recommended as the best to buy.

    • Before i abandoned a new build this was the mobo i settled on

Is there potentially anything im giving up given this is being bought from Amazon US? (warranty, support etc.)

    • -7

yep everything - no support from asus, asus au- return to amazon only for any reason etc etc.. since asus are lousy builds buyer beware from US - the driving force behind global warming

    • -1

On a quick look they seem to have international warranty for Laptops but I didn't see anything to do with parts….

I'd be surprised if they did, some companies are pretty nice though…. ASUS isn't as great as they could be with customer support, often their rebates can take a long time, many complaints on Whirlpool and the like.

At the least you'd be protected by Amazon for a period though….

Personally, I'd just buy locally for this sort of thing.

      • +1

I prefer buying local too but they havent had any stock (for any of my shortlisted motherboards, PSU's or Ram) for over 40 days now. I dont mind paying a little extra for local supply.

Wanted to build a new system before Jan 14 as both my computers are still on Windows 7. Looks like i'll be on 7 for my gaming PC atleast for a few more months yet. My laptop will be going to linux by the end of January.

boards are not covered internationally by asus, like a lot of other things asus. Its a fact like the US being the driving force behind global warming - which clearly is an unpopular fact round here given the hellfires unleashed upon us as a result.
ohh and their support is hsit

    • +1

Think you are right, but the 3rd Ghostbusters was a terrible movie….

See how it's weird commenting about something completely unrelated in the same post?

Did you not get something off your chest at the Xmas lunch?

      • -3

you mean amazon US is unrelated to 'asus are lousy builds buyer beware from US - the driving force behind global warming' as unrelated? maybe all those transatlantic returns don't generate a carbon footprint?

        • +2

I think you need a lie down.

  • Torn between this and the Gigabyte alternative at $90 more but gives a gen 4 ssd on redemption.

    • +1

If you get the Gigabyte one for the SSD as well make sure you claim ASAP (also keep in mind that there are no guarantees that they will still have stock by the time you get the invoice)

Bought a Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super which came with a 1TB SSD by redemption but they apparently ran out of stock just before I tried to claim (even though it was one month before the promotion purchase and claim deadlines). Still quite peeved by that experience

      • +1

Sorry to hear that. The least they could do is show how many are left on their site.

        • Yeah, not having any indication of stock and having it run out a full month before the deadlines was quite infuriating

          • +1

@JacobHarvey: That's always concerned me with redemptions. Never heard of it being an issue till reading this. Apologies.

Definitely needs to be treated as a bonus not a deciding factor.

  • As of 9pm 12/01/19 the price has dropped a bit to $282.72, if your orders haven't shipped it might be worth spending a few seconds to cancel and reorder at the lower price. Remember to use shopback or cashrewards again if you use those sites
