2810

To those who have been forced to evacuate their homes, who have spent hours volunteering their time to keep our community safe, and who have selflessly put their lives on the line for others – you are not alone.

Let our kitchen be your kitchen. Let us give you one less thing to worry about during this challenging time.

We are offering free pizza* to all those who need it – whether it be for yourself, your families, or your fellow volunteers. Simply speak to the team at your nearest Domino’s and we’ll help in whatever way we can.

We stand alongside you in the difficult weeks and months that lie ahead.

        Saur grapes.

      • +16

Why did you change your profile name?

        • +3

          Detective JV.

…Actually that's something I'd watch. Is Disney+ still looking for original content?

        • +1

I mean it doesn't ruin your joke does it? Completely unrelated reason don't worry about it.

          • +4

            @Saura:

I mean it doesn't ruin your joke does it?

It does… Is that why you changed your profile name?

Saura means lizard by the way…

The term is derived from the Greek words δεινός (deinos meaning "terrible", "fearsome" or "formidable") and σαύρα (saura meaning "lizard" or "reptile").

            • @jv: Nooo, when I made my account it should've being Saura in the first place. I'm not that anal about a silly joke but I can see why you'd think it. But truely did I miss a joke or something in your original post? Is my dyslexia screwing me over. Or did you simply imply Domino's is bad lol.

              • +15

                @Saura:

But truely did I miss a joke or pin in your original post?

                https://insiderguides.com.au/a-beginners-guide-to-aussie-hum…

Australians joke about all kinds of things that might be considered in bad taste in other countries including death, illness, accidents, sex, bodily functions, the list goes on. If you’re ever feeling confronted by an Aussie’s dark humour, remember that it’s probably just an effort to relieve the tension surrounding a subject and to look on the brighter side of things.

        • Jimmothy, you've done it again. Cracked another case wide open.

    • +28

You're allowed to think it Zacky, just not say it.

    • +1

I'll be surprised if you don't end up on /r/trashy

    • So all of NSW and Victoria should get free pizza? And NZ too?

  • +5

Quick shout out to GYG's…. this is how you do it.

    Great job Dominos!!

    • +22

'Sorry boss I can't fight the fires today, I have to make a 4 hour round trip to the city to get a burrito, today only!'

    • Can’t afford to pay employees, can afford to give pizza away for free? The cost of a pizza must be tiny at the scale they order ingredients.

  • -7

wonder if smoke affected areas qualify

    • +15

Visit the towns who have lost everything and then call up dominos, explaining why a bit of smoke should make you worthy of this gesture.

    • +5

No they dont, you sook. People have actually lost everything.

  • +16

I feel it in my bones low life scum are going to take advantage of this.

    • +1

Don't be cynical. I reckon people do need a pick me up. It might be a minute of happiness but it still is a minute away from misery.

I'm curious to see how this would work and how head office would eat the costs here.

    • +22

I feel it in my bones low life scum are going to take advantage of this.

come on lets give dominoes a chance

  • +2

I'm surprised you don't need a death certificate and a 3 minute 360 degree video of your house burning down to claim this (you know who you are). Good job Domino's!

    • +4

Well who knows what the conditions are really. It just says "Simply speak to the team at your nearest Domino’s and we’ll help in whatever way we can.".

  • +18

I wonder if the franchisor is going to foot the bill or expect the franchisees to make pizza for free!
I read in the news today that a franchisee is suing the CEO when they introduced the $5 pizzas.
Good on Domino's for helping if they're not screwing the little guy in the process.

    • +1

Probably a bit more complicated than we think.

Franchises are awful for a reason. Don't expect someone else to give you rivers of gold without them getting a bit greedy.

Alternatively they can say they are lucky to not have invested in one of those franchises that went bust or RFG ones which doesn't only leave you with an unviable business but also a big mortgage when the franchise was meant to help pay off.

    • I read in the article someone else sued and went for an undisclosed settlement. Might end up being the same thing and not making much of a difference.

  • +1

smear your face black with dirt and keeping coughing in the store loudly until you got slapped with a hot pizza in your face

    • blackface

    • +8

I'm probably going to hell but I lol'd at the visual.

  • -2

I'd rather burn my house down than eat Domino's
    .
    .
    .
    .
(just joking, I have 2x $5 dominos pizzas ordered for dinner tonight)

    • +1

2 pizzas for yourself? If so, I wouldn't recommend eating both in a single night. My friend says it turns out pretty horrible in the morning (stomach pains and such).

    • +13

Bold strategy. Repeat the same joke a third time at the bottom of the thread so that everyone has already wasted their 2 daily negs on the first two.

      • -1

That's ok I still had one left to give him :)

      • You only get two? I get five. #OzBargainPremium

        • -5

I think it’s 2? Not sure, it’s been a while. I think a downvoting system is pretty flawed.

  • +3

And let's franchisee frok the bills? excellent job Domino's.

  • +26

Just want to thank Dominos Plumpton for providing free pizzas to volunteers this lunch time at Foodbank NSW.

    • Oh! I was just there today dropping off some stuff. What a friendly bunch of people!!!!! Thank you for your work!!

  • -5

Anyone tried this in CBD Sydney?

    • +5

There's a bushfire in the CBD?

  • +2

Added to the disaster relief page

  • +1

Is this the best time to have wood-fired pizza???

    • +4

      Too soon

    • +4

      lol, I like dark humors

  • +1

i am from the south coast and have evacuated to Melbourne to stay with family. Went into knox dominos and they didn't know anything about this offer.

    • +1

Sorry to hear about your relocation. Did you show Knox the Dominos Facebook page?

      • no i didn't ill give that a go tomorrow.

  • Free Pizza*…..

    • = ?
  • Are they delivering them by drone? A lot of roads cut off.

    • It might be delivery drivers most eligible for this offer.

  • +2

<Cough, cough>"..it's getting hard to breathe"
    Garlic prawn please.

  • -1

Everyone so insensitive, can i just get down votes for the sake of it?

  • How franchises gonna afford that???

  • Good job Dominos, I want Scott Morrison himself deliver these pizzas to those in needs.

  • -3

Would I qualify for a free pizza as there is smoke in my area and because of this I'm affected?

    • +1

Say this out loud to yourself in the mirror 3 times before you pick up the phone to dominos and you should have an answer.

    • Probably. Dominos have been pretty generous and open with these offers in the past. Should you? I’ll leave that to your conscience.
If $5 is so important to you, I’m sure you can smear some spot on your face and get a free pizza, and nobody will think twice.

  • From someone who's lost everything in a house fire before, it's great to see deals like this.
Heart goes out to any ozbargainers our there that have lost their homes.
