  • How much extra will the policy cost though?

How does this work for existing HCF members? I want a gift card too!

  • +2

I'd be very keen for this deal to spark a conversation about how best to assess value of PHI products and providers so we can all be in a position to make an informed switch before the tax cutoff

My current policy with Frank beats HCF for almost $70 a month. so not worth for $400 gift card.

    • Can you please share more info about the policy that you chose? Is Frank a private health insurance company? Looking to change providers. Thank you :)

Got a quote to abuse the offer, not worth it. $135/month for a couple with bare minimum hospital and extras. Maybe if waiting periods were also waived.

    • +3

How much are you paying now? $135/month for two people seem very cheap to me.

      • +1

I agree. I pay considerably more than that with MBP

      • -1

$0/month. I only join to take advantage of offers and then leave. PHI is a scam.

        • classic ozbargainer

  • Does anyone know if there's any negative consequences to churning PHI, like credit cards?

    • @jonnoyeo the only possible issue I could see is if you needed to cover ( IE in a private hospital ) during the time you changed providers part of your cover would be with one provider and part with the other . They may both have a different excess or exclusions.

you'll be resetting the wait time each time i think. this is important if you are planning a child or major surgeries i think

      • +5

Nah, waiting periods are specifically transferable.

        • Hospital waiting periods are transferred except for some things such as heading aids. Extras not waived by law but generally are.
No financial credit check etc, safe to churn. It's community rated

The recent reviews here for HCF Health Insurance aren't great: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/hcf-health-insuran…

    • +1

Fair to say product review is going to attract a biased sample.

    • you can take comfort the other PHIs are not better at all…

  • Sign up and watch your Premium creeping up every year. I was with HCF for 10yrs, never again.

i've actually left HCF recently for another provider because the basic extras you get with HCF are so crap. might as well get more bang for buck.

    • +1

      which other provider?

  • +1

I'm currently with HCF and am looking for a better (and cheaper) provider. Who did you choose? Thank you :)
