Strange given I don't believe there fees are driven by the product type (excluding cars etc)

    • +1

That is a bit weird, you'd think their margins are the same on everything.

    • +1

If you are store seller, there are categories had higher selling fee.

"How can we make our Christmas and New year's sales the worst ever?"

  • +2

Still not valid with the use of a discount code.

    • Only been back buying some items due to 2 recent 10% codes . 1% ( all the 3% I don't buy ) no code doesn't cut it .

  • +6

    Why even bother eBay

  • +3

    Electronics 1.00%

    FML :(

  • +1

And as kulprit says if you use a discount code you get nothing. Kind of dumb when fleabay has codes on very very regular occasions

  • +3

    No max discount?

    1. No listing + no final fee price promo
    2. List for $1000000000000
    3. bank transfer only
    4. ???
    5. Profit
    • -5

ebay selling fee is obviously greater than 3%. u still lose. lol @ thinking these huge corporations with legions of ivy league phd quants are dumb enough to get scammed by u, just lol.

You do realise my comment was completely sarcastic at best and I don't actually recommend people to do it.

My point at 1. was suggesting those with the selling promo where they pay no insertion and final fee would mean on the Ebay platform they pay no fees or even the max $1.10 in listing and final fees on weekends.
Also at point 3. bank transfer only to overcome the paypal fee. I'm not sure where you got the greater than 3% unless you included the listing fee, final fee and paypal fee?

I know your profile is mainly satire towards HN but okay boomer >_>

      • That user name and profile pic just make me want to neg you (although I have and will resist).

  • What happens if you use a Ebay gift card code instead? Do you also lose cashback?

    • Dont worry, I found it in the terms and conditions. Yes you do.

      • But… final line of the post:

Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method

  • +1

Absolutely incredible this has received in excess of 100 votes.

    • Yep especially as it doesn’t stack with promo codes

  • +7

Let go of 5%~10% discount for 3% cashback? This is not a deal

    • +3

More likely to be 1% not 3% as the bigger priced items that make a difference in cashback would be electronics. So it's even worse than you think! Double Negative? :)

    • Up to deals used to be ____ deals

  • +2

I don't bother now with eBay (cashback with Shopback) anymore since the percentage amount received back not worth the monthly eBay promotions.
The only time I see cashback useful is when eBay aren't running any % off deals and when Shopback do a Flashsale where they could offer anywhere between 12% - 20% back.

At least with Amazon there is no code to enter (it's a straight up price discount) and you can double dip with Shopback cashback (even better when they do Flash sales where cashback increased to 12% or as high as 20% for all categories).

The issue is with eBay (not Shopback) since they have dictated to Shopback they no longer will payout cashback if you use their discount codes.

    • Same. Finding myself shopping more at Amazon now, and thus am considering not renewing my eBay Plus for a 3rd year in September.

  • Used it with the first 10% code that came . Some emails I received today . Around 1% average and I can't believe not a popular go to site with the others not being eligible with code use .

  • If you buy an international item but checkout through ebay.com.au will this apply? Looking at an item that is approx. $3.5k, so worth investigating.

    • +1

find the item on ebay international, add ".au" in the url, activate cashback then add to cart/buy from there. It's worked for me in the past.

  • Grabbed 240 Generic Telfast 180 (FEXOFENADINE) for $47 delivered and 3% cashback, not a bad deal.
