  • Anyone used these?
You have to be within 60 meters. Are the readings that accurate?

    • I got a set for Christmas, last years model for $9.00 for the 4 - Pack.

It is Bluetooth, so yes, you need to be near, but it does remember your last location on a map, so you can at least go to that location. You can use the tile to find your phone, or your phone to find your tile.

        $9?

        • +1

Yeah, my wife started the car real fast. I will post the receipt when I get home.

      • Really interested in knowing how you got the deal…

  • -3

This is great for people who smoke too much wiid "I will get it as a birthday gift for my friend"

  • What if I lose my tile AND my phone?

    • u put another tile on your phone and link it with your friend's phone

    • Start fresh?

    • +18

Then maybe you should be more responsible.

      • +4

Take responsibility for my own actions?!?! WTF!?!?!

    • +6

I got 4 tiles. 1 tile sits in the draw in case I lose the other 3 and my phone. You can use the tile itself to find a phone.

    • +1

don't forget to Tile yourself if you get lost

    • Yes

    • If the tile app is running on your phone, then you can log into tile on the web and make your phone buzz loudly.

    • "hey google, find my phone" on a google home or google home mini

      • +1

This is my go to at home.

        • same i do it several times a day since i have 2 phones and im always putting one of them down somewhere different

  • +3

I spend roughly $100 for pack of 4 couple of years back and after 1 year it stopped working as batteries died. These new model's you can replace batteries. Definitely good and does help when you forget where you kept the keys.

  • +1

GPS tiles would be better. Especially for lost luggage or other things not within range of Bluetooth.

    • +2

They would need a SIM too, as GPS can't transmit. Not sure they can pack 4G into such a small package.

      • +3

I’m sure they can, there’s GPS pet tags. Along with likely having an ongoing cost however to service the cellular, there’d be a dramatic hit to the battery life so they’d need recharging far more frequently.

GPS will also be unreliable for things lost indoors depending on the building and would likely still need Bluetooth so that in multi floor buildings you could locate the floor the items on, something reduced range may actually benefit.

Still waiting for Apple’s version to drop, it’s pretty annoying how Tile charges a subscription for premium features.

    • +9

And you're expecting apple to do it free?

      • +2

I'd be okay with a subscription to rival Tile's.
I'm more keen on the saturation of Apple devices which can locate the tracker compared to Tile's community.

      • +1

Well, there’re not gonna charge you monthly for extra features. If I’m paying $40 a year just to use my damn Tile trackers then I may as well cough up the Apple tax. Not to mention the superior integration with iPhones.

        • +1

All the premium features are nice-to-have (and some barely so), rather than need though.

    • I can't imagine any of those premium features being worth it.

    • Buy a Nut instead?

Use community find: if you lose your Tile, you can anonymously recruit the entire Tile community to help you find it; The Tile app running on their phones will send location updates to your app, letting only you know where your Tile Mate is.

This is the biggest gaping hole with these - the likelihood that someone within even 5km of you has one of these active while you're in a dire situation.

    • +1

Is a chance better than no chance? What's else is really viably available I wonder?
May not help in your "dire situation" but you may also get lucky with a non Tile owner who finds your keys, refer:
      https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203954683-I-f…

    • +1

Within 5km of my place, there is 700 tiles.

      • +1

oh wow. is there a map or similar that shows this?

        • +1

the app does, mine show 5k+, i'm in inner Melbourne, how accurate it is, who knows?

        • +1

shows on the Tile app. It doesn't show the physical locations, just the total amount of Tiles.

  • +1

These don't look like the button battery or cover is secured with a screw? Can anyone confirm this for me?
Safety concern for my little one's (who will get the keys). They show one on a teddy bear though, so here's hoping.

    • +3

No screw, but it is really hard to get the cover off, it has some sort of clips. I had to use a small flat head to pop it off.

  • Office work don't price match Amazon international products via AU site :(

    • Isn’t it their policy to match identical overseas stock on .com.au sites?

      • OW said, not when its from Amazon international, conflict of product warranty.

    • +2

      Old model

  • What's the benefit of "slim" version except 3 years battery life?
It's bigger, more expensive, and have non-replaceable battery.

    • +1

It is bigger, but slimmer (as the name suggests) and can fit in your wallet.

  • Why is there an OW price beat reference in the description if OW wont price match.
