It's definitely been a few years. They keep water cold for ages (one of mine claims 24hrs) because they're doubled walled. I fill them up with a Zip chilled tap and it stays cold all through my working day.
When did this "bottles at school" trend start? When I was at school, we all waited to use the drinking fountains.
drinking fountains
We called them bubblers
Interestingly not all Australia use the term
Lastly, and much to my surprise, bubbler is used in southeastern Australia- predominately in New South Wales (including Sydney and Canberra) and in portions of the provinces bordering New South Wales. The information on Australia is only based on a few responses, but there were some, especially in Sydney, who used bubbler exclusively while growing up. There were some from parts of Australia who had never heard the term before, so it does appear that it is also regionally distributed in Australia.
Yep, bubbles here. Or straight outta the hose at home…
As I kid I think we just called them Taps, or drinking taps
Didn't even know what a fountain was in grade 6
Never using one again.

This is my opportunity for a ramble.
In Sydney it's not uncommon to find vertical bubblers. They even threw one into a brand new bathroom complex built last year in Coogee Beach. In the US, this was considered so risky to spreading disease that vertical bubblers were banned.
The other negatives are that you can't easily fill bottles or wash you dog's nether regions.
And of course if a bubbler is slanted in Australia they'll make sure to make it only propel a few centimetres…
A popper of juice and the bubblers were all we had growing up in the 90s.
Prima! Prima! Prima! A whole lotta flavours that just can't be beat! Prima! Prima! Prima!
Although I only ever got just juice.
I'm genuinely amazed with all the shit kids get nowadays. My wife insists on buying like 30 lunch boxes for the kids each, but then they have to have lunch bags too for the lunch boxes! And ice packs to keep that shit cold. And then the bloody backpacks that don't last a single year! I'm pretty sure I can count how many school bags I've had throughout primary and high school with one hand.
love these, they keep the contents cold for ages, even if left in the car
These are good if you need to keep things hot or cold, but they weigh about twice as much as a single walled bottle and hold less liquid due to the second wall and gap. I prefer a single walled one if it's just room temp water I'm taking and use my double walled one only when the liquid needs to be kept hot or cold.
So you just told us that you use insulated bottles for cold/warm liquids. Literally what they are designed for.
A 500ml double wall contains less than a 500ml single wall bottle?
does it?
Most of the Sistema range is Made in New Zealand. Last I checked, these Sistema stainless steel bottles were Made in China.
So?
Everything in your house is made in China.
Kids?
Soon…
Not surprising given the amount of excess steel in China. High-quality stainless steel bottles can leach chromium, let alone Chinese ones. You certainly don't want that in you.
is it tru
$6.99 in an upcoming Aldi special if you can wait, it's on Page 4 of this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/510724
And these seem to be better as they claim 12 hrs hot and 24 hrs cool… almost double the performance at 3/4 the price…
I mean…. I wouldn't trust that claim, but I'm sure they will perform very similarly
They look identical, with the exception of sistemas more muted colours.
@ash2000: I actually think they ARE Sistema bottles based on the page layout and where the Sistema logo is shown.
Does the B stand for bottle?
Nah, they have every letter shown here and other patterns for the same price: https://www.kmart.com.au/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchDis…
@lucasdon: Thanks B.
Good for catching out the kids when they fill them with water and place in the fridge over night and they don't let the water cool.
I did this with my new thermos bottle I got from Amazon. So much fail
what does he mean
The water stays at room temperature even in the fridge because the water bottle is Insulated.
@Kingdove: ohhhh…awwwwwwwwwww
It's in the catalogue starting this Wednesday 8th.
example Kmart bottle pls
better designed lid mold
huh?
mods should've kept the comments :/
Is it the same as this?

Woolworths has these half price too. Honestly though they go on special so often anyone who pays $20 is a fool. They’re $10 every other week.
Having an insulated water bottle like these has encouraged me to drink a lot more water when I'm away from home, and means I don't have to go and buy cold water all the time!
Imagine chilled bubbling cola in there 🤤
Whatever happened to lids with rings? These bottles look uncomfortable to hold for more than a few minutes. First world problems.
lids with rings..?
When did this "stainless steel bottle" trend start? When I was at school, we all used plastic bottles.
