MH752 for those that want the 76.1 and the usb soundcard.
I ordered the MH752 two days ago just waiting for them to be delivered.

    • Thanks for the link.
My approach on this one was for budget headphones for music.
I know these are gaming headphones but they are well-received for their great sound quality for music as well.
So for music 7.1 is of little importance when it comes to sound-quality (may as well save the money).

      • I ordered those cause they where the only ones in stock which i seem to of bought the last of, anyone who buys now has to wait till the end of january for delivery.

        • I see. Added to post.

Pretty sure the MH 751 headphones are identical to MH752, it’s just the 7.1 USB sound-card which is included with MH752.

      • From the perspective of music, you might want to take a look at this post that details some driver swaps a user did (and then generated FR curves for):

        https://www.head-fi.org/threads/takstar-pro-82-gm200-review-…

Basically the MH751/2 was designed for the original Takstar Pro 82 drivers, which are no longer made (and perhaps never made it into the final MH751 release). The updated drivers (v2) have subtle changes to reduce treble peaks, but are still designed for the original Takstar enclosure design.

The net result is that CoolerMaster enclosure takes the tuning a step too far. At this price, if you don't need the headset mic, just get the Takstar Pro 82 v2 (again, TakstarAudio on AliE seems to be reliable).

You should be able to get it cheaper than this price, even today, and as low as $60-$65 with sales, coupons and cashbacks stacking up.

        • takes the tuning a step too far.

This is subjective, what one may find ‘too-far’ in treble, may sound detailed & airy to someone else.

From what I read, stock Pro 82 vs stock MH751,
MH751 has smoother / less fatiguing treble & slightly wider sound-stage (makes sense since the earcups are deeper).
Of course you would need to A/B both to pick out the differences, but even then I think they will be very minor differences.

just get the Takstar Pro 82 v2

Yes but local stock price is also appealing for returns / replacements etc.

@thebadmachine: The Takstar design angles the driver inside the enclosure to help give a wider soundstage than you might expect looking at a picture of it, but the essence of what I was describing was a bloated bass response and lowered level of detail due to the CM enclosure design.

It just wasn't made for the different driver tuning, and lacks bass ports to vent. Every A/B comparison I've seen doesn't speak favourably of the CM beyond comfort.

            • @jasswolf: In this case I would like to think it is more a case of one headphone being more suitable than the other, rather than ‘better’.
I would prefer angled drivers myself though, and am just now aware of the Pro 82 having that over the MH751.

Also wondering if you could suggest anymore budget options other than Pro 82 / MH751 / SHP9500.
Another user was interested in other options.

              @jasswolf:

but the essence of what I was describing

I had another look at your link. I initially only saw the top 3 graphs, and thought the top graph was the MH751. Therefore that treble boost was what I thought you were referring to as “takes the tuning a step to far”.
              My mistake.

              • @thebadmachine: Ah yup, here's the measurements of a stock MH752 from the same user:
                https://cdn.head-fi.org/a/10275495.jpg

                • @jasswolf: Hmm I can see the MH752 is tilted towards the treble (possibly making the bass sound a bit less impactful & the top-end a bit darker).
But looks similar. Again FR is just one aspect and A/B’ing them may reveal more differences. For the sake of comparisons I am trying to compare stock vs stock.

I second this thread, i spent a good day reading through. Decided against the mh751s and ended up getting the gm200 which is the gaming, bassier version of the takstar pro v2. So far quite impressed
