Double dragon, well that's a blast from the past. I loved that game.

    • Brings back memories..

    • hijacking the top comment for update:

$5 each at Chadstone KMart 7/1/20

Shelf marked as $15 each on "clearance".
DD and WWF scan at $5 and frogger didn't scan at all.
Sweet talked checkout chick and got all three for $15

  • Walked past a guy with literally a trolley load of these…

Still heaps left at lunchtime though.

    • +2

Not sure why? Not like they will ever increase in value and at a rrp of $15 is it worth the hassle to try and resell them. I looked at them last week and they looked very cheap.

    • +2

Someone's got their Sunday market stall worth of goods.

      • +1

how much does the sunday charge these days to run a stall?

        • -1

No idea, we usually just walk them and laugh at all the cheap packaged junk being flogged.

        • +1

          @godofpizza

Asking for a friend, no doubt

    • +1

I think I saw the same guy trying to cross a street with an arcade machine. Didn't end well… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xk1RkMGvBIk

    • ebay…?

I love these, between my son and myself, over Christmas we got Street Fighter 2, WWE Wrestlemania, Space Invaders, Frogger and Double Dragon.

Keep in mind, they are a composite out (yellow plug) and therefore you will need a display capable of accepting composite, or a converter.

Apart from Street Fighter 2, they all have the same case. 2 buttons, same stick with larger ball. Street Fighter 2 is different, and has 6 buttons (obviously) and a micro switch driven 8 way directional joystick, with a red ball similar in style to classic Sanwa joys.

They're all great fun to play, and at $1 for the above units, a steal!

    • +5

WWF back in the day :)

      • +3

I still find it really hard to say and type WWE. It's not easy…

    • Wait I never saw the Street Fighter II one!

    • +1

      Are they 1 player only?

  • +1

Local kmart has for $8 at Helensvale..

  • They need to manually override the price. The price is nationwide. Staff have received the price markdowns list

    • +3

My local Vic one wouldn’t mark it down. She said she wasn’t aware of any pricelists

      • -1

Same i dont think this is nation wide.

      • They are being lazy unfortunately to check or haven't gotten around to marking them down. Did you show them a pic of OzBargain with the Kmart store in question with prices (shame the prices are difficult to see).

They are absolutely nationwide, but they always have to have prices overridden at registers

        • They are absolutely nationwide

Source for this info? When I was there she had 1 million reasons why she couldn’t sell it to me for one dollar

          • +2

@Andard: My partner works in Mulgrave headoffice. I am paraphrasing here but mentioned memo was sent out Tuesday to all stores related to all Xmas stock including these novelty items. I guess just need to wait until they all action final markdowns.

Beyond this I don't know why there is a major discrepancy store to store, maybe there was the first price reduction and then second and hasn't been actioned yet so I am sorry people are going on a wild goose chase, please don't kill the messenger

            • +1

@Lucille Bluth: Thanks for clarifying. They actually were already marked down to 8 dollars, so I suppose that’s what the memo meant. I guess we just have to keep waiting and keep an eye out :-)

  • Saw these just the other day for $15, full shelves even before christmas so obviously not a great seller. Do you play on the arcade machine itself, or only by connecting to a tv?

    • On TV and via composite. So will look pretty bleh.

      • +1

Oh, well no wonder it didnt sell, its kinda pointless to pay $15 for ONE game when every console does old school emulation of some sort not to mention any laptop or pc can emulate basically everything. The only reason i was going to get this was the novelty of playing on a micro arcade machine!

  • Anyone know where this shelf is in the shop?

    • +1

      Down the aisle perhaps..

      • Around the corner near the thing-a-ma-jigs and next to the watcha-ma-call-its.

    • Back exit next to the food court and eb games

  • I wonder if it's worth it to grab and take apart for the controller to chuck into a pi setup…

  • I assume these are the original arcade versions (hardware emulated)?

  • +6

George Costanza needs that Frogger machine.

  • Airport West have a few WrestleMania left by the registers

    • For $5 apparently the store manager discounts and it's not 50c here

  • +4

Not all Kmarts. My local Vic one said that they don’t all match the prices from other Kmarts and she wouldn’t put it down from eight dollars to 1 dollar

    shrugs

  • Are these the same as the original arcade games?

    • +5

      No. They're the NES versions

      • Thanks.

  • Not worth it for the NES versions IMO unless you have a market stall or something!

  • +1

Chirnside Park VIC has none, waste of time going there…again, after I left like an hour ago.

If someone has luck at Eastland hit me up so I can feel bad about not going there instead.

  • Can anyone confirm any other stores have this deal apart from Fountain Gate?

  • +1

Update. Just went to fountain gate and grabbed a WrestleMania one. No signs of anything else left on the shelf. 5 left @$1ea. It's immediately on the right when you walk in food court side.

  • +1

Leopold had about half a dozen and marked at 8 and scan at that price. Look kid dad junky really.

  • $8 at vic park Kmart. Almost cheap enough to pull the trigger. I’ll try next week

  • Plenty at Southland of frogger, double dragon and wrestlemania
    But all at $8

Space invaders too but at $15

  • Just an FYI. Went to Waratah (Newcastle) and they claimed to have sold out before Xmas.
If any OzB'rs find any in the Newe region please let me know. Thx much in advance.
PS - I am only after Frogger or Space Invaders.

  • Kmart in Vic Park, Armandale both said no. This is WA <- - - Another country

  • None found at Maroochydore but not surprised, that store never has much in its entertainment area. Does have some 'Atari Flashback X's supposedly on clearance for $40 which I suppose is a good price if that is what floats your boat.

  • Still $5 at my local Kmart.

  • Kmart Broadmeadows has them stickered at $2 each. I got a Frogger and Space Invaders. They had a fair few Double Dragon and Wrestlemania.

  • can the controllers be re purposed?

    • I guess you could probably put a zero delay encoder in and use it on a pc.
