Gone up from last time :(

  • My son tells me it has been out for a couple of weeks and is only before 5pm.

  • +12

    It was $5 before.

    • +1

      Agreed. No deal.

    • +3

I think this is the new discount price.

    • +6

      I'd give it a neg, but I can't because I'm associated :(

      • +1

        disassociate

    • They used to switch the $5 deal between this and the mcfeast, and one other thing. But since the 30 days things they've all disappeared. Also the family meal packs have gone from several stores we visit.

  • +1

    This has already been posted

  • +5

95 cents more expensive but still a good deal.

  • -5

So instead of one paper thin patty you get 2. Almost as thick as cardboard, with all the taste of cardboard.

    • +22

We have some high society amongst us

      • -2

nah i eat their breakfasts and fries, but their burgers are absolute shite.

        • hurt are my feelings

          • @jaypick: Buy your self a soft serve cone maybe?

  • +4

The kiosk at my local conveniently does not have "Small" available.

Also impossible to order via the app as it's buggy as hell and takes an eternity to load the menu items.

    • +3

had one tonight at melbourne central ….walked up to the counter, no issue, no app.

    • +3

Maybe scroll down; my app shows I’m this order:
      Small - unavailable
      Medium
      Large
      Small
ie two options for small - the 2nd one comes up as $5.95

      • If only I could even get that far in the app but I'll definitely try if i ever reach them choices.

    • +2

certain maccas chose not to have the deal - ive encountered it personally.

    • Get a better phone

    • Also impossible to order via the app as it's buggy as hell and takes an eternity to load the menu items.

      Clear app data or reinstall.

      • Tried both and even on the gf phone.

    • Same the app is super slow - It's because it as to communicate the the Maccas computers I think.

      • +1

It's just a crap app. Never have issues with KFC, Dominos, Pizza hut or HJs

        • Funnily I find the maccas app faster than the kfc one.

    • +1

FYI my app on Android was like that and I uninstalled/reinstalled and it's heaps better.

  • +3

QLD has the gross chicken and cheese meal instead.

    • +1

If by gross you mean delicious, then yea they do…

    • +2

yeah the chicken one isn’t that great, advise from counter staff when i tried one was you need extra chicken sauce or it has no flavour ….will never order one again unless they sriracha sauce on the chicken.

  • +1

    ahh worked.

    • it’s 10:30 am to 5 pm ….deal.

      • +1

        it worked. at 10pm

  • +4

More expensive than before but not bad so long as they don't keep jacking it every 3 months like HJs
Wish it was the McFeast instead though

  • +1

So now we've still got the grease bomb but it costs more 95 cents more? Yeah nah.

    • -3

'So now we've still got the grease bomb …'

'Grease bomb' gives it way more credit than it's worthy of pen stealer. Even calling it a 'spitball' would be metaphorically over-representing its actual size. I got one at the drive-through yesterday and lobbed it onto the top of the dash for a second while I attempted to eke some moisture out of my now strawless drink (thanks for yet more changes to MY once happy but now destroyed comfortable environment, pinkos), and the burger slipped down into the 3-mm gap between the back of the dash and the windscreen. I'm not worried about it rotting there and stinking up the car though. It is so small that I am relatively certain that four or five environmental microbes will polish it off in less than 24 hours.

      • +1

        what

  • +2

Tiny burger in case you wonder

    • what maccas burger isn't tiny?

    • 'Tiny burger in case you [were] wonder[ing] …'

I second this. It's a ridiculously tiny burger, which is simply a weird/gratuitous move on Maccas' part; particularly for a burger with 'double' in it's name. When it arrives you feel like the butt of a bad joke. It's beyond me why Maccas thinks that selling this paradoxical 'mini-double' burger is better than simply spending an extra 15 or 20 cents at their end and serving up something large enough to not look like a tiny plastic Coles 'Little Shop' toy/give-away.

      • +4

I would argue this is bigger than a double cheeseburger with the bacon instead of the cheese.

Also a lot cheaper than one. Think of this as a mcdouble meal + bacon

OK you keep believin' that Snap-Dragon.

I just now got a little Uber-Eats dude to 'Fred-Flinstone' one of these canapes to my joint ('on the double') so that I could conduct a scientific experiment. While I was waiting for it, I made my extremely sensitive (culinary-wise) strictly vegan and very allergic to pork wife a nice/wholesome salad roll in a standard sized bun from Woolies. Like I do with extreme regularity, because I'm a (tip) top bloke like that.

So anyways, the peddler arrives while my wife is busily nattering with her (champion) mates on the phone, and I cunningly slip the miniscule Maccas morsel into the middle of the 'no pork vegan salad roll' I just (dutifully) made for my wuzza. I hid that 'burger' underneath half of a pitted olive. A Spanish olive; not even a Kalamata. I gave it to her, accompanied by some loudly and resolutely proclaimed 'sweet nothings' loosely pertaining to how I will always totally have her back, will always protect her, never lie to her, etc.

I then watched with interest as she wolfed it down. There was not even a flicker of recognition that perhaps there was anything other than rabbit food in that roll, ladies and gentlemen. So I patiently bided my time, waiting for at least some preliminary signs of what I assumed would be an inevitable anaphylactic reaction.

          But NADDA! :(

So it's official, peeps. This skerrick of organic matter is so minute that it is even completely undetectable by one of the most sensitive surveilance systems on our NICELY WARM plant: the human immune system.

          To quote Ali Gee's DJ:

          "FIX UP", Maccas

@HoleInMyWallet: Forced to agree with your summation in the main Stripe-dresser, but I think you are being a little harsh on the Snowman/woman. To be sure his/her utterances were essentially gibberish (as opposed to my impeccably logical and profound revelations), but there is no need to actually emphasise that unfortunate reality by way of a public comment. Doing so is a touch gratuitous, I respectfully suggest.

Remember Stripers, it's nice to be important; but it's more important to be nice.

  • +16

the $1 hamburger also went up to $1.50 -_-

    • +1

This upsets me more than the 95 cent rise for the double beef and bacon meal because it's a 50% increase.

      • +1

yeah it was my go-to when i wanted a cheap feed.

This is a bit off-topic, but at least it's the right time of year for it (erm… approximately/belatedly) so I will share this hot tip for those taking a domestic flight out of Melbourne anytime soon.

The Hungry Jacks at Melbourne Airport is now 'on-board' with the Shake-N-Win app!

Only those who have arrived at that airport in a taxi that cost well in excess of 100 clams, the required 48 hours early to ensure that Tiger Airways didn't erroneously deem them a 'no-show' and blatantly profiteer by reselling their (non-refundable) ticket to four or five other people in rapid succession, only to find that they did not have the cash or even the remaining credit to afford to acquire enough food to sustain themselves until they were mercifully transported ANYWHERE EFFIN ELSE will know how good this turn of events is. If you charge up three old phones and install the HJ app on them before you go, you can manage to get by at that airport for a few hours for about $20. As opposed to spending way more than that on a single (crap) sushi roll. Happy days.

I found it amusing to 'win' a discount on something comparable to a Macca's product on the HJ app (small cheeseburger meal for $4.95 for example), then amble up to the Maccas counter at the airport feigning tiredness and absentmindedly 'shuffle' the phone across the counter to the hapless little 'burger artist' and say (at barely audible volume and in a thick Irish accent) 'I'll just have this thanks'. When they inevitably inform you why that cannot be done, you can force the revelation that they are a complicit component of a blatant extortion racket to dawn on them my politely asking what that sort of product will cost at their establishment.

Yeah. I LOVE Melbourne Airport. I especially cannae fault the cheap parking.

    • Are you okay?

      • -3

Thanks for asking Milks … I'm fine now/no longer 'hangry', because my adoring wife just cooked me up a rather large meal that she tells me is made from an entire bird called a 'turdfu**ing'. That is an unfortunate sort of name for a bird I must concede (something must have been 'lost in translation' somewhere back in history I think) … or maybe it's actually the Asian name of the dish/recipe? Anyways it was nice.

        Happy new year.

  • +4

I wish my wage went up annually (percentage wise) as much as the inflation of McD's and HJ's….housing…private health…..amongst other things.

    Thanks gov't!

  • Got one of these meals a few nights back (around 8pm) and it was definitely still $5.95..
It’s currently just after midnight, just added to cart on the app to double check and it’s still coming up as $5.95, so not sure where the 10:30-5 time is from? :)

    • Right now, I can add it to the cart without issue but when I attempt to checkout it says:

This product is not available at this time of day. [error: -1075]

If I change it from a small meal to medium meal, the error goes away.

I tested it against two of my local stores still open at this time.

      • +1

I think each store has there own config for the app (and kiosk), it can differ from store to store and hour to hour.

        • -1

'I think each store has there own config for the app (and kiosk), it can differ from store to store and hour to hour …'

Erm… methinks that would be a bit 'Mc-Zany' for an operation like Maccas Mr Bond. May I respectfully ask what this 'somewhat creative' impression of yours is based on? (not including anything even remotely pertaining to Queensland of course)

          • @GnarlyKnuckles: Given that prices for non-specials vary a fair bit within the same city, I'd be inclined to believe this.

            • -1

@auscompgeek: Unless you are referring to the banana benders (who took themselves out of any vaguely relevant 'Australin equation' decades ago — nice one Joe!), I beg to differ. Can you perhaps cite a few examples?

  • $9.30 in North Lakes, QLD. I don’t think QLD is included in this deal. Again.

  • +2

Looks like Ronald is in bed with Jack as this used to be $5 not long ago.

  • +1

i dont think a price increase is a deal

  • +2

good bargain considering a small cheeseburger meal is now $6.30 (even though you can just order that as a 'cheeseburger happy meal' which brings it down to $5.55 plus you get a toy with it)

  • Gone up in price again at the kiosk and cashier/registers $8.80. Still same on the app $5.95.
