  • This thing any good for Chromecast that actually works?

None of the other cheap media players (Mibox 3) really have Google assistant and Chromecast support that works reliably.

    • +4

What about the Vodafone TV. That has Google Assistant Chromecast 4K support. I'm sure it works right.

    • +1

My Mi Box S has Google assistant and Chromecast Ultra built-in…

  • -1

    Sorry, no deal. See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/466660

(And BTW, its not a dongle if it needs a cable)

    • Can't compare it to VTV.VTV is on Android 7.0, you have to side load all the apps on VTV (prime videos,Kayo, etc) but not on this one. For your information all Android dongles need to be powered from usb even a Chromecast.

      • +2

Can't compare it to VTV.VTV is on Android 7.0,

So? What app doesn’t work on Android TV 7 compared to Android TV 8/9?

you have to side load all the apps on VTV (prime videos,Kayo, etc)

I’m happy to spend the few minutes it takes to sideload a couple of apps rather than pay more for an inferior product.

      • 9.0 is coming to the box according to Vodafone.

        • Cool, do you have a link for this news? I have 2 VTV boxes and assumed they'd be stuck on 7.0 forever.

    • Not a dongle if it needs a cable? What?

    • +1

Not sure why you got downvoted. I agree with your post get a VTV

      • +1

A completely different item being cheaper is not a valid neg reason.

        • Both are generic Android-TV boxes. Comparison is totally valid. This is not like Apple vs Android.

  • Sorry op but I have to agree with @manic on this one. First it's not a dongle and paying $100 for a 1g/8g box in 2019 is laughable (unless there are hidden features that I'm not aware of).

VTV or MiBox is better and cheaper in every way

    • Hidden features like Chromecast or Google assistant/home work?

      • MiBox (and presumably VTV) has both no?

        • +1

Yes the Vodafone TV has both.

        • They work to the same extent as on the Seiki.

  • +1

With only 1GB DDR3 RAM and no USB A input either. You only get micro USB so you'd need an adaptor. You can get much better than this for less money.

Why wouldn't you get say the Vodafone TV for $72 delivered over this and it comes with 2GB DDR4 RAM.

This is just a very poor deal for the price.

  • +1

Just get a Vodafone TV - cheaper too.

  • Hardly call this a Dongle, regardless go VTV. Or save more and get a Shield.

Lots of stock because it's a very poor deal. They can't sell any. Considering you can go buy a Vodafone TV for $72 with free express delivery and it has 2GB DDR4 ram. Twice as much RAM and it's faster DDR4.

They need to be selling it for like $30 or some thing. $99 is over priced.
