    Targeted

Locked on. Target destroyed. Good kill.

  • +6

Looks targeted. Didn't work for me

  • +5

    Got it. Works.

  • +3

Worked but usually the targeted codes don't work

  • Nope

  • +2

    Targeted son

  • +9

Finally targeted. Too bad I frequently find restaurants bump up prices on Uber eats orders. Last time I unknowingly paid $20 extra.

    • +37

That’s because Uber takes 30-35% of the food price. The restaurants jack up the price to cover this loss. That’s a massive cut to their income so I can understand why they’re doing it.

My friend runs a pizza place in Melbourne, that’s how I found out.

      • +5

Yes, I found out I paid $26 for a main on Uber Eats when it's less than $20 ordering direct.

Uber Eats starts to hurt the wallet, especially when you add on the delivery fee.

I agree that Menulog is better, although I have found their customer service hard to deal with.

      • +4

It’s fine to bump up the price, I understand there’s an additional third party. I wish they made it more visible to the consumer like the delivery fee though.

        • -8

Did you not check the price of the item(s) before adding it to your order?

        • +1

Go blame ubereats or better stop using the scum

      • -2

Uber Eats restaurant policies specifically say they cannot charge a different (inflated) price for Uber Eats orders. One of their Australian execs stated in a radio interview on 3AW that this was the case and that any restaurants doing so would be removed from their service if reported to them.

        • +22

They better remove all restaurants on their platform then… oh wait 🙄

        • +3

Their policy and practices don’t match.

        • +2

I asked Uber Eats why the price was $26 for a main on their app when it is less than $20 when ordering direct and they advised the prices are set by the restaurants and they don't control the prices.

Note, the $26 main on Uber Eats (that is less than $20 when ordering direct) is both for Uber pickup and delivery.

I got stung on a pick up order which is all the more frustrating.

      • +4

That’s on top of charging the customer for delivery usually. UberEats double dip so heavily their margin is even better for them than Steam/Apple/Google Play.

    • +5

Yup, I find the same thing. Most items are bumped up 20-40%.
I usually use Menulog where I can as I find the price bumps aren't so rediculous

      • +2

Exactly what annoys me.. Free delivery is only good for those restaurants that don't jack prices up. I now check online what their menu prices are before I order on uber eats…

      • +1

Menulog also take nearly 30% so that isn't the reason.

    • +4

Also i heard some restaurants charge the same price but make up for the Uber eats tax in other ways ie smaller portions, less meat etc

  • Targeted, I’m not eligible

  • +1

Finally, a code that works, thanks OP

  • Worked for me

  • Thank you. Worked for me.

  • Got it for myself and my partner. Thanks op.

  • Got it, nice

  • +1

i would love to know their algorithm which decides if a restaurant appears on their search list or not. some days my local burger place is on the app, others its not, and this was on a busy friday night! i ended up calling the burger shop directly to place my order, so they were definitely were open.

    • +4

Something around available drivers, demand, forecasted weather events and radius. UberEats is very conservative when it comes to delivery radiuses (don't even start with McDonalds via UberEats, that's a special case) and they can adjust certain outlets during peaks times or during certain weather events to 'Unavailable'.

Quick and efficient turn over of orders nets best profit, hence promotion of nearby outlets.

    • +3

Depending on how busy they are, the restaurants have the ability to pull their own place or hide/deactivate for a short period. If it was a busy Friday night it makes sense, there are only so many orders they can fulfill. Once they have capacity again they can make it live.

      • +1

You can still see the store when they go “busy” mode though. It just says they’re not accepting orders.

  • +22

The rest of the year sounds good til you realise its an offer for 4 nights.

Some restaurants are using their own websites which is awesome, if you're using a small business and dig their food - ask them which delivery service they prefer. After I did they gave me extra servings of meat and ends up cheaper ;)

    • +2

I wish vegan restaurants did this.

      • My partner is vegan and some of the Thai options give extra tofu

        • +3

          Nah, extra servings of meat.

  • Worked for me as well.

  • I got this email too so works for me thanks

  • Thank you worked for me :)

    REST OF 2019

    • +1

All 4 days, how awesome is that? lel

      • UNBELIEVABLE!

  • +9

I got targeted but pfff free delivery for about 4 days when I've still got stacks of leftovers from all the Christmas get-togethers.

    • +2

It's outrageous that McDonald's didn't realise that it's all about you.

  • I got the email with same code

  • +1

For the first time it worked for me and I was so excited. Until I read it’s until end of 2019. Lol.

    • Same here lol

  • No luck

  • I only found out that Google has entered the food ordering/delivery business last night after I Googled for some Pizza Hut/Dominos vouchers…worked a treat too, and got a deal that was better value then the default offers Pizza Hut were offering.

    • I wish Guzman y Gomez delivered through that service and was not pick up only.

      • I am sure there will be a lot more businesses signing up in due course. Here's more info for those interested article

    • Are you saying that google delivers food?

Edit: nevermind, article was posted above

  • -1

Poor form, alot of people will still have heaps of Christmas leftovers. But yes I still up voted because it's a great Deal.

    • +1

Usually by NYE I'm ready for a home delivery. You can only eat so much leg ham…

    • +2

Perhaps next time they could target only people without heaps of Christmas leftovers.

    • +3

Deals like this are usually to get extra business when business is slow (or expected to be), not when you're flat out keeping up with demand. They're trying to get people to think "well we've got free delivery with uber eats, so lets do that rather than yet another night of leftovers".

  • worked for me!

  • +1

    Not eligible for me

  • perfect for xmas orphans!thanks!

  • No go

  • Worked for me. Yay

    Thanks

So we used to ring the restaurant directly to place an order,
If you lived close by and ordered above a minimum amount delivery was free.
All profits went to your local hard working restaurant. Now Uber offers to do it,
the restaurants now pay Uber 35% for the service and we the customer now pay more for our meals whether we use the service or not.
"They're charging 35 per cent of every order just for the privilege of using them," says Mike Jefferies.
Or if you like the convenience of Uber Eats use their website to explore whats available then ring your local restaurant to place the order.
Ooor go to the restaurant and pay about $1 or $2 more for a main course, have a nice night out and support your local community!!

    • +2

How do you get charged more to eat in? You are doing it wrong mate I always get charged less than ubereats or groupon.

      • Sorry, what I meant was the restaurant's main courses are "usually" a $1 or 2 cheaper on the takeaway menu (not Uber Eats) compared to the eat in menu!! So eating out can often be only a couple of $$ more than eating at home, unless they aren't BYO and you want to buy beer/wine!!

    • +1

One big benefit of uber eats/menulog etc is ease of use - no need to ring up, hope you get someone/hope they have the time to take your order (quite often the phones will be busy, or the single person at the counter is already serving someone else) you just go on to the site that has the menu (that you'd likely be looking up anyway) and order direct from there. If it costs you the same, why wouldn't you? Also must save the restaurants from having to maintain an online ordering portal as I notice a few that used to have their own online ordering now send you to their menulog order page.

  • Worked for me. I first got excited thinking free delivery for the whole year than realized 2019 is ending in three days.

    • Lol. Me too.

Misunderstood "rest of year" as meaning the whole of 2020.

  • It worked for me!

  • +6
    • +1 deme, thanks. Been a while since I visited his site. You have realigned my perspective once more.

  • Worked for me too! Thanks OP!

  • Grrrrrr this one shouldn’t be targeted

  • +2

Revised title: uber eats goes for one last ride, bending local businesses over with the throbbing phallus of the gig economy before the decade ends

at least give me my 50% off coupons damnit

  • Where’s the free food. It must have been a month since I got a free food code that worked.

  • Had this on my account for the last two months now. I think they rolled out free delivery for the end of the year right before they rolled out variable delivery fee rates.

  • It worked but all the good places are shut until next year…

  • The code in the OP didn't work for me.

But the coupon 30FREEAUS did work for me, and it wasn't emailed to me directly. 30 days of free deliveries. Give it a try!

    • -1

I don't drive and live in an unsafe area. So this is a great option.

  • Targeted ones never work for me? Ummm how do I get them to target me…lol

  • Got it thanks.

  • +1

Been ordering coffee. $4 a cup to the door 👍

    • Found one in my area - large (16oz) for $3.30 delivered. Will try it tonight.

  • After getting a new SIM and new uber eats account, then making a single purchase, I have received 30 days free delivery 3 times total.

Worth it for the lazy among us. Also, use a referral code from here, or refer yourself for a $10-15 off that first order.

  • Does this stack with those earlier codes for $5 off/ 30% off?

  • +1

Why do none of these ever work for me.

  • Not missing out on much. On the night which you’d want it most ie NYE, pretty much everywhere is listed as unavailable or closed :( Had high hopes of getting stuff delivered tonight! Bummer.
