It will but he will lose them again if he stops 🤣
Only if you're a celebrity endorsing it.
Just buzz cut it FFS.
Agree, there's no stopping mpb and people are wasting money with this bandaid measure and messing up their endocrine system with finasteride.
It's about vanity. Shave your head and get some muscles. Girls dig that anyway.
What's wrong with finasteride?
@TEER3X: Realistically though, what % of users experience those side effects? I took roaccutane in my teenage years which has, arguably, a list of side effects that outdo finasteride yet I didn't even experience as much as dry skin.
@[Deactivated]: It's probably very small, but how can you know for sure what your hormone levels are? You need a baseline, i.e. take a hormone blood test before you start and then another one a few months later.
Some people are more sensitive to things.
Only knew one bloke who took Roaccutane, he went crazy. Skin did clear up though.
Personally, I would just use nizoral once every three days and see if that helps
@[Deactivated]: You try it and report back with your limp findings.
@[Deactivated]: I gained 4kg in 10 days on Finasteride, dehydrated me and I went from oily to dry skin. It killed my libido, took a while to ramp up again.
Saw no results after a year and quit.
Some do get sides, and I guess some don't.
@[Deactivated]: I took it for nearly 3 years, no side effects (obvs anecdotal, but from what I understand, it's pretty safe)
But something interesting is you can't donate blood of you're taking it because of the birth defects possibly.
@ForbiddenCaramel: I don't have kids, so if I ever plan too if have to go off I assume! So I saw no point going on it!
I'm gonna try derma pen, people combo with Regaine had been awesome but my only issue is front hairline
@TEER3X: The irony of that list did not escape me. :)
This is absolutely not correct. You can significantly if not completely stop MPB using a combo approach. Take your correct dosage of Finasteride (1mg daily is recommended but you can go as low as 0.5mg daily and still be fine) and consistently and you will see an almost complete stop of MPB in around 2 weeks. Also regularly use Minoxidil shampoo and the solution and take your Vitamin B6 and Zinc and you might even grow back some. Of course there are the 2-5% that this will not work for them but it works on an overwhelming majority
What happens when you stop taking your meds?
The answer is why I said and believe that these measures are nothing more than a bandaid
@TEER3X: MPB will start right back up and probably even more aggressively after about 2-4 weeks but That's is absolutely not the point. You said "there's no stopping mpb" and certainly there is a proven solution
Overall extremely small cost to keep your full head of hair. Takes around 1min every morning and sets you back around $250 every year
@er1992: So if you were to start taking it in your early 30s and you want to keep your "full head of hair" until retirement age you're spending more than $8,500 not allowing for any increase in the price. That brings it into hair transplant ballpark, where there would be no potential for side effects (not doubting your medical credentials).
Or you could just embrace your genetic future considering there are no medical ill effects from going bald. There are however increased requirements for sunscreen/hats.
PS - I'd love to not be bald :)
@CanadaAye: If you get a hair transplant the doctors will recommend you start Finasteride and minoxidil to hang on to the hair you've got, otherwise you'll be up for another hair transplant in no time
@sssboi: False, some recommend for the first 6-12 months.
Once again, it depends what stage if hair loss.
Alot of young men are just fixing their hairlines, which is 1,500-2,000 grafts max for dense packing.
@CanadaAye: Well it's a personal choice. I'm not advocating for taking or not taking the drug, just stating the facts.
But as others have mentioned, even with surgery you'll still need to be on the drugs for quite some time if not forever. Also I highly doubt you can get anything worthwhile done at around 10k, at least not in Australia. In the middle-east you can get 2-3 surgeries done at the highest quality for less than 5k though (while you're at it get your teeth done over there as well if you need haha)
What about a remedy for females ? Any difference ?
@lousy: Wig.
Bigger and better hair than Finasteride.
Of course there are the 2-5% that this will not work for them but it works on an overwhelming majority
Any actual scientific proof (i.e. proper randomised clinical trials)?
@[Deactivated]: There are plenty of clinical trials on Alopecia but take them all with a grain of salt:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25830296
This meta study, although it's on the adverse effect analysis of the studies, basically denotes the extremely biased nature of almost all studies in the field. There is definitely a number you can find in terms of the effectiveness but I seriously don't want to dig through all these studies to find it. Given the following study (funded by GSK):
Study: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24411083
Data: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/results/NCT01231607shows significant improvement as compared with placebo, I would say the non-effectiveness percentage shouldn't probably be much higher than 5-10% at worse.
😂😂😂
I took it for 12 months, no changes.I'm 37, granted probably a natural hairline I have full hair otherwise, no hair loss at rear. Just front hairline thinning.
Or you could read the product description before going on about an active ingredient it does not have!
Add goatee and wrap around sunglasses on head and you adopt an instant unique look.
That's expensive shaving cream
I think I saw clippers deal a few days ago.
Isn't this the stuff that causes ED
No that's the pill called Finasteride. Pretty sure there are clinical studies that show a rate of something like less than 1% of people taking the pill experienced ED
I have used this product for 6 monthhs it's working pretty good but my sex life dies. Make your choice a little bit more hair on your head or quality sex life
How it is related to sex life?
You misread, this product is not for pubes?
This stuff doesn’t work a mate used it for over a year and nothing happened got a refund
Didn't work for you. Doesn't work for everyone.
There is nothing sadder than a man holding on to his last wisps of hair. Man up and buy some decent clippers
Shut up baldie. Man up and realise some people want to have hair for a little longer.
I use silicea and also gave one to my brther and both of us have had visiable improvement. No side effects and you can stop using with no issues. i am in early stage while my brother is later stage of hair fall.
I was thinking of using rogaine but i heard horor stories once the use is stopped. hence went to silicea and cant be happier.
Is this just the tablets you can get off the shelf from the chemist?
I’ve used this since March. My hair has completely regrown. It sheds a lot to start which freaked me out but now full head of hair. Easy as.
My sex life is also fine…
Is the foam better than the solution? Been using the solution for 5 months and it definitely works for me - I have hair growing over my bald spot. Looks like it may completely fill in over the next 6 months.
Just wondering about the foam - my initial 6 month supply is almost up.
Regaine deal OP posted works out at $18.74 per bottle
Amazon selling Kirkland brand (Costco USA) for 11.10 bottle (cheaper if using Shopback/Cashrewards).
Regain uses foam, so that 60gram ends up way less than the Kirkland since theirs is actual liquids (60ml).
Similar to drugs, generics usually always cheaper than branded stuff, despite using 100% identical ingredients.
https://www.amazon.com.au/KIRKLAND-MINOXIDIL-SOLUTION-5-MONT…"Minoxidil works by improving blood flow to the area in which it's applied. Apply it to your scalp and it can potentially improve the supply of blood and nutrients to hair follicles, improving hair density and increasing the rate of growth."
So there you go. All it does is deliver blood flow to hair so it grows better, which is why people lose the hair they gain after they stop using it for a period of time.
If you don't mind being bald or losing hair up there, more power to you. On the other hand if losing hair reduces your confidence then prob good idea using Mioxidil.
$74 for 4 months of hair? The hair transplant will be cheaper over time.
Those who have been using this and have got good outcome….did you continue using it or stop after some time?
You need to keep using it or you'll lose any progress you've made
You will lose it all the moment you stop.
Have been using minoxidil for a few years now and Finasteride for one year and I feel like my hair loss has basically stopped and I may have regrown a little as well. I started using these products at the first sign of hair loss as I've always known that I'd be prone to male pattern baldness (my father lost his hair quite young). So because I've started it early I haven't lost much hair and will hopefully be able to hang onto it for as long as I'm on these products.
I also want to add that since adding Finasteride to my regime at the start of the year, I have never felt better. My testosterone levels are well above the normal range and I've had blood tests to confirm this. As a result my sex life and mental well being have been the best it's been since I was a teenager and being on Finasteride has literally changed my life for the better. So don't believe everything you read on the internet, and considering talking to your doctor about it because I'm glad that I did.
Out of curiosity, what finasteride product do you use?
It's called APO-Finasteride 5, which is a 5mg tablet which I cut into quarters. So I'm using about 1.25mg daily, which my doctor said is fine. I think it's about $30 for 30 tablets at chemist warehouse but you need a prescription.
Came here for the comments.
Anyone have experience with the foam vs the solution?
Is it worth the extra money compared with the generic brand solutions?I personally prefer the solution as I still have a lot of hair on my head and the foam just becomes messy to apply whereas with the solution I can part my hair and use the dropper to control the area I'm applying it to.
Keen to hear from people who have used this product and are also cat owners. Any problems with the product’s toxicity to cats? Mine likes to lick water from my bathroom after I’ve had a shower and I’ve been putting off getting Regaine for that reason.
Shut the bathroom door.
Does this work? Asking for a friend.
