In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

  Oh, I got the advanced edition as a free upgrade I see. Might have to give it a go again, was fun but frustrating with the whole permadeath thing.

      Yeah, supposedly saving the file & putting it back works fine, but I CBFed doing that given how often you'd have to do it to be worthwhile (though I could setup my NAS to rsync the file and then it might have previous versions available, hrm…)

      Part of the appeal is the permadeath so I didn't try too hard to get around it

        It's a roguelike, you're not meant to load and save it, it would just be boring and far too easy.

  Already have this game on Steam, but if you're thinking about getting it, GET IT!!!

  It's an amazing game. The music is especially my favourite.

  Also wanted to add, that completing this game on normal, is considered to be near impossible.

  Don't know how man hours I spent, I still can't do it. Best of luck and have fun :D

    It isn't near impossible, just takes a good bit of practice and luck.

    What I love about the game is how indepth it is, I've gone through and beat the game on hard with every single ship variant, and yet there's still something that surprises me on a new run.

      Exactly - it's all down to luck.

      You may have a really well set out ship, but one single encounter in sector 7 -damn you, 4 layer shields - and your run is toast. It was designed something along the lines of 10% of your attempts would make it to the final boss. Think I was up to 100 runs before conquering it!

      Music is divine; Abandoned Sector is my favourite for sure

  This is an amazing game.

  I've got well over 250 hours on it, I have had it since 2012 to be fair haha
