    Still like a price error

    99% sure it's a price error.

I put in a price protection claim.

If it goes through, I will have paid $162 after cashbacks.

  • I have this, and cannot figure out what it does that the model below it (with silver handle) doesn't do.

It says it has smart sensing and determines temp and time by itself, but you do that by pressing a few different presets, the same ones available in other models.

    • Is it really smart enough not to burn your nuggets? No quirks you have to learn with the settings or what, wondering why it cost 500 normally.

      • it costs 599 normally.

I've never had it burn things, but they have been undercooked or not crispy enough.

I would recommend not using the presets. They are not robust enough to cover everything.

There's frozen chips as one preset, then there's home made chips, drumsticks, whole chicken, and fish all of which are non frozen. But there's no mention whether they came out of the fridge or have been out at room temp. What if you have frozen nuggets you want to cook?

Basically, the presets are hopeless. Experiment with the timing yourself and remember what works.

  • Definitely a price error. Hopefully Gerry shares some Christmas joy and honours

  • Fixed

  • Error has been fixed, wonder if they will honour the existing orders

  • Bloody quick fix for Christmas Day! Saved me $284 thankfully haha.

    $449 now

  • Damn! I was trying to figure out a way to get a price drop guarentee on my card lol.

Anyone buy this and have it honored?

  • I was just working out if would fit in my suitcase to take with me back overseas next week came back to buy but already sold out. Damn..

    • you'd need a very big suitcase. This thing is massive in all 3 dimensions.

I bought in good guys for 522$ yesterday (with 50$ Philips cashback) but didn't take concergie services and my family used it yesterday only and now the price has been reduced to 449$. If I go to GoodGuys will they honor price beat guarantee and refund or give store credit.

    Any ideas?

    • never done it with good guys

but i have with JB Hifi

they are owned by the same company now arn't they?

i'd give it a try if it doesn't work try the above method

    • I was in good guys they told me refund difference in cash

    • No.

Price guarantee only applies if you bought concierge.

      • Can buy concergie services till 14 days of buying the product. Will try to buy and claim it so I can get 3 years of free service.

In Good Guys website they mentioned that blackout period applies from Dec 22 to Jan 1 for concergie claims.

Will go to store and try if they can do something.

        • Well given this is based on a price error that happened on a day of no trading, I don't think you will have much luck. If you go to them tomorrow, they will check the price at HN and see no $284 to match.

But you can get them to refund you the difference off of $449 which is still a good price.

Well looks like they didn't honour it, just got an email to say order is cancelled and will be refunded, however as a gesture of goodwill, they will be providing a $20 gift card

    • interesting, didn't know they'd do goodwill gestures. but heck that would've been an amazing price.

    • I didn't get this gesture of goodwill. Did they mention it in the same refund email or a separate one?

      • They mentioned in the refund email that in the next 2 business days they will send a $20 e-gift card

        • Thanks, i got nothing. Time to complain

          • @Section2: just an update. I did get the $20 goodwill egift card. the Email was sent into my spam folder

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of it when it was $284?

I know it was price error, but for anyone who considers buying one of these instead of smart oven read this…

The Pros and Cons of an Air Fryer
    - With an air fryer, you can't see inside. This might not be super important, but being able to see your food can help judge doneness.
    - Air fryers are louder than a convection oven. Philips says its air fryer generates 65 decibels, which is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner.
    - An air fryer is more expensive than a comparable convection oven. A top air fryer might run $250, but a $150 convection oven will cook more food and more varieties of food (including toast.)
    - Air fryers take up less space. A convection oven will pretty much have to live on your countertop full-time, whereas an air fryer can go in a cupboard when you're not using it (although because of its height, it might not fit in every cupboard).
    - Air fryer cleanup is more difficult. With an air fryer, you have the perforated basket to clean along with the bucket that it fits in. If you're cooking something like chicken wings, there will be a lot of dripping. With a convection oven, you just clean the pan.

I actually managed to get Latitude to approve the price protection claim. Surprised by this.

So I paid the sticker price of $599 for it but after cashbacks and price protection, only paid $162 in the end. :D

Gerry Harvey did something good for a change.
