  • Traveling to Thailand in a couple of weeks. This could be good. Thanks!

You're better off just buying a Sim card at the Thai airport when you land.

  • I'm travelling overseas end of next month. Does anyone know if the 200 MB has an expiry date? I'm worried it will expire by late Jan if I buy it now.

If you’re travelling to a country that’s supported by Optus prepaid (https://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/international-roaming/p… - Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, UK and USA) that’s probably a better deal, also depending on the length of the trip. It’s $20 for 10GB with a 2 week expiry, and unlike the Woolworths SIM, it’s easy to find the Optus SIM in store. The other thing is, these services work by routing all traffic through the provider’s APN. So for example, even though you’re connected to say AT&T in the USA, your IP shows as being in Melbourne (for Optus) or Singapore (for Woolworths). Performance depends on the capacity allocated to this backhaul. On our last trip we had two phones and tried Woolworths and Optus side by side. Optus was noticeably faster. Also the Woolworths SIM requires you to change the APN manually so you need to install a carrier profile on the iPhone to use the SIM, and then remember to uninstall it when you switch your SIM back. It’s not a particularly onerous thing to do, but in comparison, the Optus SIM just works without any of that hassle. I would only use the Woolworths SIM if the country is not supported by Optus

200MB? as soon as i turn my phone on that 200MB will be gone in 10 seconds!

    • Depending on how they charge data blocks, 200mb could be wiped out just by email in the background checking for new mail.

  • Going to India for 6 weeks in January what is the best option for data?

    • Buying in india

  • It seems the deal is still going on their website as of today 4/1.
I am doing a 20 days trip to Japan, Taiwan and Hongkong so I need a global SIM, my phone has dual SIM so changing APN is not really an issue to me.

The alternative is the The 3HK 4G 3GB 30 days international SIM for about $40~50 which I think I am going to get.
