Frequent Flyer Black offer is much better.
120,000 bonus Qantas Points and $275 back, which makes the annual fee to $ 150 which is less than ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum Visa

which is less than ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum Visa

Please read again. Its $295 annual fee and $195 back which makes it $100 annual fee.
Also not everyone may not be able to apply the Black Card as it has a minimum credit limit of $15000 and probably higher income requirement.
I scouted this deal because I wanted to apply it for my wife who cant apply the Black card.

They have taken out the minimum income requirement from the Black credit card now.

So has anyone successfully got one with no income, eg on Centrelink with savings, etc?

    • Damn, wish I found this out earlier. It's gonna be hard spending $4K after Xmas

  • Will we ever see a return of the $0 first year annual fee?
Or is this as good as it gets now?

    • Not anytime soon.

  • I still remember the good old days when they gave you 65000 QF points for the platinum with no first year fee

  • Three times I have applied for the black on separate deals, three times I have been accepted. Three times it failed to show up. Contacted the ANZ a couple of times, one occasion it was stuck in the mail queue whatever that means. It's like they weren't even interested landing a new account. I've given up.

Just submitted my application for the Citi Rewards Signature Credit Card today which I think is a better deal: https://www1.citibank.com.au/credit-cards/citi-signatureqde?…

    • You will pay $493 in fees to get 150000 QFF points

      • Save $395 with a reduced $49 annual fee in the first year

        • Pay $49 first year and you need to pay $444 in the next year to get complete 150000 points

          • @sakg: On a value basis, it's $49 first year for 100k points which is better than ANZ. You are correct however that the extra 50k points are attained following the first year with the assumption that $444 is the renewal.

So $49 vs $150 for 100k points vs 120k points with Citibank and ANZ, respectively (in the first 12 months). I'm tossing up between either.

            • @IamaCam: Citibank is more worth as there's no 12 months exclusion period for you to reapply. So essentially you can get 100k points. Cancel wait 3-4 months and apply for the same deal again. Plus it's only $49 for 100k vs $150 for 120k.

    • $5K spend, ouch

  • Is there any good card with velocity points

      • fees is too much

        • +2

It includes a return domestic flight which makes up for the fees.

          • @nightelves: That's not a bad deal. Is there a restriction on the the distance you can travel. I had the Amex card with a similar deal but the furthest hop I could take was Brisbane to Melbourne and I wanted to go Cairns to Melbourne. Also is there a similar deal for Qantas ?

Edit - never mind, I found the flight map. Thanks

citibank platinum 140k citibank points which converts to 56k points, annual fee $49 for first year

Feel free to msg if you want more info

  • Silly question (never had a cc). Can I potentially bpay a car loan to gain the bonus points? Have been tossing up on getting one of these points cards for the points and travel insurance.
