Hi everyone

I received an email from Amazon AU saying I can get $10 off an order of $39 or more for 24th to 27th December by inputting a code in the Amazon app. It also mustn't be third party sellers including Amazon US.

I haven't included the code as it looked unique. The deal appears to be targeted towards new and existing users who have never signed into the Amazon app. I know I have signed into the app but I cannot recall whether I have bought through it or browsers only.

TERMS & CONDITIONS: This offer is valid for a limited time only. This unique promotional code entitles any new or existing customer of amazon.com.au who has not previously signed in to the Amazon App (Australia store) to $10.00 off their first purchase of over $39 of “eligible items” made on the Amazon App (Australia Store) only. “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global store) even if “fulfilled by Amazon”, digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. Amazon AU’s standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to the offer. The unique promotional code can only be redeemed once per customer on eligible items and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. If Amazon considers a customer to be operating multiple accounts, those accounts will, for the purposes of this offer, be treated as one customer. To redeem the offer, enter the unique promotional code you received via email into the relevant field during the checkout process on the Amazon App (Australia store) and your discount will be applied (to eligible items only). If you return any item purchased using the promotional code, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the unique promotional code) and the promotional code will be invalidated. The promotional code is not transferable and may not be resold. The promotional code will not apply to orders placed with 1-Click. If you violate any terms and conditions of the offer, your use of the promotional code will be invalid, and the discount will not apply. Amazon may elect to cancel a transaction (and refund monies paid) if Amazon considers that a customer is violating these terms or to address suspected misuse, abuse or fraud. Amazon reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time at its discretion. Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply. The offer is valid from 12:00 (AEST) on December 24th 2019 until 23:59 (AEST) December 27th 2019.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2019

    Targeted.

    • +6

Do you know how I can add a targeted label?

      • +3

A mod will do it for you soon enough.

      • That’s an interesting question. Maybe adding targeted as a tag?

  • +2

I got it and I’m a prime member

  • I got it too. I'm a prime member as well. It's definitely targeted though.

  • I keep seeing an ad for this on Amazon, $10 off via app. I'm a prime member.

    • What page do you see the ad on?

  • +18

Prime member here, didn't get it

    • Same here.. anyway, not a deal I care if I miss out on.

  • Didnt get it, on prime trial

  • +6

I didn't get it. Prime member here

  • Didnt get it

  • +1

    Prime member, didn't get it

  • Where do you see the deal?

I am a prime member, but cannot see the deal?

  • +2

Prime here, no luck. Didn't get

    • +1

      same here
legend has it , im a legend

  • Prime here and it popped up on front page of APP.

    • +15

App isn’t an acronym. It shouldn’t be in all-caps. I have no idea why people keep doing this.

      • +38

        @ajmir To annoy you APParently!!

Relax. He was putting emphasis on app, not website.

Because they're technologically illiterate. Same as people saying ATM machine…

        • +1

I don't think technologically literate and people saying ATM machine are mutually exclusive.

      • I remember channel 9 got Richie Benaud to do the Cricket Australia A-P-P promotion during commentary once, they never got him to do it again.

  • Targeted

  • I've ordered through the app before, didn't get it. I think I did use a generic code the first time I ordered through the app for $5 off or something.

  • Prime member, never installed amazon shopping app. Installed it and offer was there. Thx opp!!!
Edit: looks like mine might be a different offer, valid 15 Nov to 31 Dec.
If you haven't installed the amazon shopping app before, give it a go.

  • Prime member. Did not get it (yet?)

  • +13

Prime rib here. Looks delicious. Sorry, what were we talking about ?

  • +3

The dates in the title and T&C are not matched by the Reminder dates.

    • Thanks chrism238

I originally chose Boxing Day because the email has a massive Boxing Day banner on it but then the T&C stated it was for 24-27 of December. I have fixed the title.

  • Prime member.
    Installed the amazon app.
    Got it.
    Used it.

PS. Could I have gotten cash rewards when using the app ?

    • +4

Did you use a different promo, like the first time APP user promo?

The one posted here doesn't start until the 24th APParently

      • Yes. Must have been a different promo.
There was no code just asking me to add it to my account.

  • +8

I hate targeted ones, they always put my hopes up for no reason

  • +12

I hope Amazon is going down the path of eBay’s stupid targeted, select item offers. Those offers frustrate users and personally make me spend less.

    • +4

      Did you miss “not”?

      • +3

Yep. I missed the critical not.

    • What about the classic Microsoft Xbox “we noticed you haven’t bought anything in the store lately….. have $5.”

  • Isn't going to be $29 spend then?

    • Isn’t going to be $19 spend then?

      • Depends on math: "$10.00 off their first purchase of over $39"

  • Did any non Prime member's get it ?

Looks like for Prime member's who have never used the app .

    • I received the email. I’m not a prime member but did make my first and only purchase within the past month using a McDonald’s monopoly coupon

      • Same situation with mine, though my older account didn't get anything.

  • +2

Bah prime member use the app all the time.. no love for me.

    • That's probably why. The best offers go to those that don't spend enough, be it Coles, Amazon or Ebay.

  • +1

I got this as a a new prime member (joined on 4th dec to save $1 on shipping).
still planning to cancel soon since i dont live in Australia right now, but luckily got this voucher as well!

    • Not sure why this comment got negged by someone.

Personally, I have 3 Amazon accounts so far, and will probably create another one to try & get this offer. On each of them, I signed up for Prime & then cancelled it immediately.

  • I'm not a prime member and I got the offer via E-mail. I've also never used the App before.

  • Didn't get the email but I downloaded the app for the first time and it was offered to me. I am a prime member.

  • +1

No email from my 8+ Amazon accounts or my primary Prime account which I've used the app with.

    • +1

Since nobody has asked, I have to take one for the team… what do you do with the 8+ accounts?

      • +1

When Amazon AU launched they had $15 off on first orders. Needless to say I took full advantage of that :P

  • I received the email. I’m not a prime member but did make my first and only purchase within the past month using a McDonald’s monopoly coupon

  • Prime member, didn't get it

  • prime member, did't get it. Purchased few hundred bucks from Amazon AU since black Friday

  • +1

Prime member. Buy way too much stuff to need enticing.

  • Perhaps, the trigger is that the account is an intermittent, but not heavy Amazon user, and has never bought anything from the Amazon app.

I can also confirm that a current Prime membership is not required for the offer.

I got the offer on an account on which I had signed up for & then cancelled Prime previously.

I had previously received a similar offer, around a month ago, on a different account. This was also an account without a current Prime membership & where I had signed up for & cancelled Prime.

On both accounts, I had bought things on Amazon recently, but only a few items, that is I was not a heavy user. And I had bought them from a desktop browser.

  • +1

Prime member who orders once a week - didn't get it. But I have never purchased from the app, only desktop.

    • Similar for me but maybe not every week

  • Long time Prime member who has made many orders on the app - and I received it. Remains to be seen whether or not it will accept the code when I use it.

  • Is free shipping over 39 dollars for non prime member?

    • Yes. Items must be all from Amazon AU.

But be careful when before placing order.
“Expedited shipping” (+$5.99) was selected by default, and the App is a bit tricky when changing it to “free delivery”, you select it, then you have to scroll down and click on “continue” otherwise it’s very easy to accidentally get charged for delivery.

Even after confirming “free delivery” my order total was still wrong, had to click into the order total information for it to update and correctly show “free delivery” and correct total including $10 discount.

  • Saw the banner while on an item page via web. Clicked on it, redirected to App which then shows “Sorry, you are not eligible for this offer”. 😢

  • paid prime member and ordered many things and i didn't get it

  • Prime member. Amazon does not love me, yet again. Kindle and Prime member yet I get none of the targeted deals. I'm not surprised my Indian youtube premium gets nothing though.

  • I’m a prime minister and I got it too
    Thx

  • It seems that the unique codes are not tied to the account that received it. So you don't need to use the code on the account that received it if you have more than one account or want to give the code to someone else etc.

The code is added at checkout and will appear as promotional balance (it's not a gift card so it won't store).

It will only work on the app and with minimum cart of $39 as stated.

    • Not sure that can be done? Seems to automatically deduct the $10 on checkout

      • I was under the impression you get a code… Well according to the post above mine.

      • I think it shows the code somewhere when you go to checkout.
So you write that down then cancel the order.

        • This deal is for a unique code that is sent to your email. The email states:

Enter your unique code below at checkout to redeem.

Then a 14 character code follows.

The OP mentions "I haven't included the code as it looked unique"

It appears some users are talking about a different promotion, this one - $10 off Your Order The First Time You Sign in to The Amazon App (Min Spend $39). That is not what this deal is for.

          • @hamza23: I see so it only works on the account with which it was claimed.

Just curious, do you think it is worth it to sign up for the first time just to get $10? Or would it be better to wait for a tastier offer? I am guessing Amazon really has enough loyal members they may offer only the low amount of $10 for awhile.

            • @thebadmachine: No it will work on any account it seems, see here.

Since these emails are already sent, I doubt you will get any $10 if you signup now. I'm not too sure about other promos sorry, I don't really recall many 'new user' signup offers though.

              • @hamza23:

This deal is for a unique code that is sent to your email. The email states:

I failed to read this part of your comment.
I get it now. Got mixed up. (I think I made my original “success” comment above in the wrong deal)

I see both deals are targeted.
I took “The First Time You Sign in to The Amazon App” as the only requirement.

Since Amazon rarely does new user promotions / rewards I guess it’s worth a shot (signing up).

  • +3

Got the code. I am prime user. Tried both app and desktop, not working for me. Anyone else with the same issue?

  • Didn’t receive an email with a code… :(

  • didnt receive

  • +1

Can I use this on top of the 12% bonus cashback through shopback or does it count as 'Amazon credit'?

    • Would like to know as well

  • Sent me a $20 voucher if I subscribe to Prime, was a Prime member until December this year.

  • +1

Has anyone got this to work? I cannot get it to work and have tried entering it in the 'gift cards and promo codes' section at checkout and receive the error "the promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase"

    • I tried again now as a test and got that same error message. I tried it for a second time and it stated "the promotional credit has already been applied". Scrolling up I can see the $10 had actually applied to the cart, despite the error message.

      Using the app.

      • Did you enter the code on the last page at checkout on the app?
I keep getting the same error…

        • Yeah in the 'Gift cards & Promotional Codes' field at checkout which has a camera icon next to it, underneath the address field.

I can see 'Promotion(s) Applied: - $10.00' if I scroll to the top where it has the order summary.

If you still can't see the -$10.00 it might be a good idea to jump in live chat.

        • Also keep in mind it only applies to items sold by Amazon AU:

“Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global store) even if “fulfilled by Amazon”

I tried on this for example and it won't apply as the seller is Edifier Australia

          • @hamza23: Sorry, didn't respond back to you.
Spoke to Amazon, got $10 credit then the app worked too…so got a bit extra off my purchases. Bit of boxing day cheer for me.
