Big Bash League Ultimate Backyard Cricket Set (BBL Lumina Active) $39.99 (Was $59.99) @ Rebel Sport

590

The Lumina Active Big Bash League Ultimate Backyard Set is perfect to use for a game of cricket with the family. The cricket set includes a base with 3 stumps and bails, base with 1 stump, 2 bats size 5, 2 plastic balls and carry bag to easily transport the cricket set. The cricket set is made from durable PVC material and is suitable for use on grass, concrete or sand.

Decent price if you (kids for Christmas) are after a branded/licensed BBL set (the base with 1 stump for the bowlers end is a nice addition), those after much cheaper unbranded sets then K-mart, Target, Big W may be for you.

      • Yeah you cant please everyone.
4.8 stars on 30 reviews (25 are 5 stars) is pretty good.
Getting the brand name if its good quality and a decent price is fine.
If the product is exactly the same minus the brand label and the prices is much cheaper then its a no brainer to get a bargain.

        • Plastic crap is plastic crap :)
Get a decent wooden bat at that price .

      • Says the marketing man

Surely the Ultimate set would have 6 stumps?

  • Smokemart had it for $49 in their current catalogue. Not a fan of Rebel, but that price is good.

It's got it's ups and downs last two seasons sucked but this season has been ok so far Maxwell game was pretty fun to watch other then that I think like IPL Bbl has gone past its prime (first couple seasons)

Yep. Far too ridiculously over-commercialised and it’s over before it starts.

Far better to watch test matches.

Yeah better to have them inside where they can just be nice and safe on their ipads, getting bargain McDonald's deals and binging Netflix from the safety of the couch.
Can't risk exercise, that dangerous vitamin D or anything else that comes with outdoors.

      • Cricket isn't exercise it is a bunch of fat alcolics standing around

Play AFL or NRL like a real man

          Or real woman

        • But here you are in a thread about cricket.

        • Something about your comment seems like it came from a fat 'ALCOHOLIC'

Woolworths have 10% off Rebel gift cards (Rebel is included in the Ultimate Him gift card) :)

  • No light up bails?

BBL is sad, needs far more foreign players, not even a single Carribbean player, how do you have a T20 league without West indies?

    • Couldnt agree more. Half of the 2010 T20 World cup winning squad are still playing world class cricket, its unbelievable not one is playing in Australia. Gives the competition a real bush league feel.

Where can you play this "backyard cricket"?

    • In your backyard.

That place that you go to relax, and which is necessary for normal human existence. As a former apartment dweller, I can say if you don’t have a backyard (including a veggie garden and enough room for some backyard cricket), move somewhere you can afford one. The difference to your mental health will be worth it.

      • I get your point and agree somewhat but in the larger Australian cities finding an affordable place with a backyard big enough for cricket often means far from the CBD, poor services and long commuting times. Not always good for mental health.

Even then it would be hard to find a place with a backyard big enough for cricket.

A more realistic and practical option for most people is to find an apartment or house near a decent park.

It's surprisingly easy to find a job in regional areas. Even for specialised fields (I specialise in convolutional neural network optimisation, and I was surprised to find how easy it was to find a job in regional NSW).

You'll get paid less, but you can get a house on a quarter acre block for under $500,000 and be less than half an hour from work. So in the end, you work out ahead financially, and have a massively better quality of life.

Leaving Sydney is the ultimate "bargain". It should be perpetually on the front page of OzBargain.

As someone who did it about 10yrs ago, I totally agree.

          • @[Deactivated]: Very true about Sydney. I'm very thankful I don't have to live there.

Still, 70% of Australians live in capital cities and 90% in urban areas so that is where the vast majority of the jobs are.

If you work in a field where job security is assured and your income is still decent after a pay cut, regional Australia is a great option.
