Thanks for post. If someone sees the middle size go on special cam they please post it.

  • How much generally?, 😁💐

  • Thks bought one …..right size for when cooking taco filling or a small casserole. If the 6 litre comes on special please post …

  • How good is this at cooking rice - compared to a dedicated rise cooker such as the recent breville special from amazon?
thinking of making the switch as this is more versatile…
    Thanks

    • I heard it's decent and people buy an extra stainless bowl to cook the rice in or food in (so you don't have to wash it right away to cook another part of the meal)

    • depends on the rice imho. i love the brown rice in this! but can be temperamental and I had to tweak the timings and water ratios for my preferred rice brand.

    • I used one of these in America (not this brand though), and it cooks rice as good as a rice cooker, but faster (about 5 minutes) but you do need to tweak it a bit to get the various types of rice the way you want. It's easy to add too much water and have the rice go gluggy etc. I like my rice al-dente if that makes sense, and I had to play around a bit to get it to work the way I wanted. Once I did, it was perfect. That said it was a bit of a pain as TEER3X said, ideally I'd get two bowls if I got one again, as otherwise if you ever want to cook something else (like smothered pork, which goes great in this, with rice on the side) you gotta transfer the first dish, wash the bowl to then cook stew etc or use it for something else…. or vice versa.

      • Thanks all for replies. I got this as only 30$ more than rice cooker and so much more versatile. Will get another bowl - $29 or so from Amazon US so not bad.
Usually cooking for 5 so would have liked the 6-8L option and use this for the sides…

    • the stainless steel gets rather sticky when I cook basmati rice. great machine for stews etc and ok for occasional rice. if you frequently have rice, this is not the machine for you.

  • This is tempting - but I'm not on sure on sizing and if its big enough. Big enough for a family of 4?

    • +1

If in doubt I tend to go bigger because we bulk cook and freeze things for later.

    • +4

no - the 3 litre is a small version designed fro 1-3 people or for sides.
For a family of 4 i would wait for the 6 litre

      • +2

I got the 3 because only cook for 1-2 people normally …..when 6l is on special will get also when cooking for friends …..

    • https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/507445 maybe this?

It's the off brand variant, apparently pretty similar.
