thanks lele and Lord Satan for this bargain

ScumMo won't be happy about it… oh wait, nowhere to be found.

      • He's more likely to condemn your post than climate change

Do we get tax invoice for GST claim?

    • +5

Highly unlikely since coming from HK. A true Oz bargainer should know this.

      • :(

      • -1

they're supposed to be registered for GST and have an ABN.

If they are collecting it for the gummint they should be giving you a tax invoice.

        • they're supposed to be registered for GST and have an ABN.

No they're not, if you're going to quote the law you could at least understand it first.

          • @Maverick-au: https://www.penguinaccounts.com.au/gst-low-value-imports-201…

Overseas vendors with Australian sales that are subject to GST of AUD75,000 or more turnover per annum, must:

register with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
charge and collect GST on sales of low value imported goods to consumers (unless they are GST-free or sales of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products)
lodge returns with the ATO and make payments to them
ensure certain information is included in the customs documents for the goods.

The ATO is communicating, educating and assisting affected businesses to comply with the measure.

Further information is available on the ATO website at GST on low value imported goods, including specific Information for transporters and customs brokers.

Preventing GST from being charged twice

Measures are in place to prevent GST being charged twice. The new law is designed so that businesses:

will not charge GST on a sale when GST will be charged at the border because an item is
                worth over AUD1,000
a tobacco product or alcoholic beverage
will not need to charge GST on a sale if it is clear that multiple goods will be shipped to Australia in one consignment worth over AUD1,000 as per the current threshold.

If GST is paid on a sale and then again at the border, the importer (or consumer) will need to seek a refund of the GST from the retailer.

For more information see Preventing GST from being charged twice on the ATO website.

            • @lostn:

Overseas vendors with Australian sales that are subject to GST of AUD75,000 or more turnover per annum, must:

What part of this is hard to understand?

And vendors don't have to register, the ATO has no power to enforce this law. Guess what the A in ATO stands for?

    • They have to charge GST on top which can be claimed in trs. Whether it's included or not in the price, I'm not sure.

      • They have to charge GST on top which can be claimed in trs. Whether it's included or not in the price, I'm not sure.

No they don't have to charge GST.

        • So what was the whole point of introducing GST on low value imports a year and a half ago?

          • @lostn: Because Gerry cried like a baby about how people are buying imports because they dont pay GST. Yeah like no GST was the only reason people buy imports. Not that its significantly cheaper even with GST. Cant possibly be that. No. Never.

          • @lostn: The ATO has no power overseas. This bullshit they pulled is going to come back on us big-time on the future, what if China decides for example to tax their citizens in Australia on holiday?

The ATO made a big mistake, some short term gain has come at a huge cost to Australia.

Just like the ATO ignoring all the international tax treaties they signed by going after companies like Apple and Google. Short term gain will be overshadowed by Australian companies being taxed heavily overseas which will cost the ATO huge amounts of tax locally.

            • @Maverick-au: Its not the ATO that's at fault. Its the stupid government policy that they have to implement.

  • Surprised it isn't running an 8 series chip. Looks cool though..

Camera performance is lacklustre according to mkbhd videos and blind camera tests

    • Only get better with firmware updates, been looking at this or the the next Sammy Note11, as this camera will be in the next reinteration.
Something to finally replace my Microsoft Lumia 1020 with it's huge sensor, nearly as big as the Nokia 808 sensor.

      • My 950 has just had its penultimate W10M update. That being said, the 9T Pro with GCam is a worthy successor. The 108Mp is nothing more than marketing - GCam pulls superb 12Mp pictures from a 48mp sensor.
My 1020 was extraordinary, however in very limited applications.

  • Anyone shopped here before?
btw I just ordered a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro 6GB 4 hours before.

    • where from?

      • .tobydealsau. but they boosted the prices so dont buy it.

        • I already ordered mine from there about a week ago. Enjoy the wait, they don't have any current stock according to their support :)

          • @splishy: what model and color? I contacted and they said their already working on my order. and will be shipped within 1 day

Price is not very attractive. Same phone was priced at around $450 for 8G/128G version on 12/12. Might be the cheapest in the world ever.

    • +1

$450 usd or AUD?? Don't think it's been $450 AUD before

  • +4

Bang for buck, these Xiaomi phones are killer compared to buying an S10 or anything else. I've got an Mi 9 and it's awesome.

    • +2

Agreed. Redmi wins for price/$$ ratio

      • +2

        Lol, price per dollar.

That's a good metric. Tells me that for every dollar something is that's the price for that dollar.

I know you meant price for performance tho. Or value for money.

        • +1

< oops, oh well, I stand by it anyway. But yes, also performance/$$

        • Lol, price per dollar.

"Every 60 Seconds in Africa a Minute Passes"

  • Is this same as note 10 pro?
I got lost with their names 😅

    • "Xiaomi also offers Mi Note 10 Pro with an 8-piece lens on the primary camera and a large 8GB+256GB RAM and storage upgrade. The 8-piece lens delivers images that look clearer and sharper."
      from ozmiui.com

So additional storage and RAM and an upgraded "8-piece" lens, whatever that means.

    Equal number one on DXOmark.

  • 666 @ Christmas XD

  • Is the camera in this good say compared to a samsung s10 or similar? (User experience).
