Great soundbar for less than $200. Comparable to the YAS 108 & YAS 207, but the MusicCast allows the ability to pick up additional wireless rear speakers and wireless subwoofer at a later date.

Don't count on this sounding any good without a sub. At least the YAS108/109 has a built-in sub, which as small as it is in those is still more than the BAR40.
Have a listen before purchase and you will see what I mean.
Would it be worth getting the MusicCast too then? Are non-Yamaha subwoofers also compatible with it?
Cheers, a confused but keen music listener
If you can accommodate the rear and sub now, I believe there's also a special at Melbourne HiFi for those. It'll be the MusicCast 20 and MusicCast 50.
Sub - Yes, you can use a non-Yamaha subwoofer (through the subwoofer jack).
No, only a specific yamaha wireless unit so the manual says. It lacks the 'sub out' that the YAS109 has.
Nope. I checked my soundbar. Definitely has a 'sub out. Page 13 of the manual.

Agreed. But for me, I can't fit a subwoofer in my living room at the moment, so at least this is a stop gap for the interim.
You mean until you buy the wireless sub?
Yes, in which case the Bar 40 + Wireless sub (or wired if I want to splurge on one) would be better than a straight up YAS 108.
@mchouse911: It lacks a sub out connection.

@mchouse911: I was looking at page 63. No mention there.
@TextGoesHere: All good. I've picked one up this morning and so can physically check the bar. Definitely has a sub out jack.
Wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't accommodate an alternate sub.
@mchouse911: YAS108B also has sub out.
Great deal, I have a sub already so this might work
No sub out connection. Check here.

Much better option would be this at $271.20 click and collect using the code P20GUYS.
Comes with everything and far easier to upgrade later, will sound better and is cheaper for a complete system. Only downside is for those that don't want to run wires.

brushed metal top
front metal grille
have to say this looks a lot better
own MusicCast Bar 40, wireless paired with sub 100.
MusicCast Bar 40 has sub out jack. Bar 40 itself does not have any bass, definitely need to pair with a sub!
The whole setup sounds great very powerful bass, but expensive. spent 300ish on the soundbar, the sub 100 cost me 400+.
recommend buying MusicCast Bar 400 instead, come with sub(less bass).

And it's gone
Oh man! Just bought the Yas 108B from this morning’s deal.
