Amazon is price matching Bing Lee, however free shipping with Amazon for Prime Members. I picked this to improve TV sound without spending twice the amount for the Samsung HW-Q990D and also I didn't personally want a separate subwoofer.

  • 3.1 Channel 250W total power Dolby Atmos and DTS:X soundbar
  • Connect via HDMI eARC, USB and Optical connection points and Bluetooth v5.0
  • Immersive 360 Spatial Sound customised to your environment- available when connecting optional rear speakers

Currently $888 (+ 10% off coupon) at Harvey Norman and $999 at JB-Hi Fi (Will price match).

This is rated slightly better than the newer version which is the Sony HT-S2000 on RTINGS.com

Ive got one of these and a great soundbar!

  • Can someone tell me if it is any better than JBL bar 300? I am not professional on this and just curious.

None of them are any good compared to anything other than the built-in speakers on a TV, and there are very few soundbars genuinely worth the money, and there's very little justification for picking a soundbar above $400 spend if they have the space to put in at least an amp and two bookshelf speakers, or even two powered monitors.

Lots of R&D thrown at soundbars trying to reduce distortion and increase stereo separation in small form factors, but most still use various dynamic drivers and run into audible issues with the physics of it all.

  • Alternatives in this price range:

    Samsung HW-Q800D - $549.50-$655 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/899582

    LG SH7Q 5.1Ch 800W Soundbar - $524.70 - https://www.amazon.com.au/LG-SH7Q-Channel-Soundbar-Digital/d…

    • Which one is best out of the 3?

      • I am partial to the Samsung as I have the Q930C which is almost the same but with additional rear or front speakers:

        • Having run the rears both behind and in front the Q800D that comes without is almost just as good except for some content that can really utilise the additional speakers.

        • The sound you hear instore may be very different in your home setup. Through the interface I run my speakers in Surround mode with Bass -1 however others may be in Standard with more custom EQ settings.

        • To get optimal sound it helps to have a not too small or a large room with non-wall areas i.e. best home configurations I have heard is where the soundbar is an enclosed moderately sized room with minimum lots of soft cushions on the couch and four walls with doors closed.

        • I have had various 3.1 and 5.1 downmixed soundbars that work with/without subwoofers over the years and a subwoofer does make a significant difference when placed correctly for a more immersive experience. This applies across the the board whether entry or flagship models (Bose 900 Ultra, Q990D, Sonos Arc, etc). That said, many of the subwoofers that come with soundbars are nowhere near as immersive as a dedicated home theatre setup but then again the overall price and ease of setup is also not as high.

The LG would be tempting - would try and test it in store though unless they have it in a room the acoustics may sound a little off without anything to reflect off.
