PlayStation doesn't do 4K Blu-ray
But these don't seem to be cheaper than an Xbox One S, so ozbargainers are better off with one of those, right?
for casual viewers an xbone will suffice but cinefiles will opt for the better audio/video output a standalone unit like these provide.
@NanookOz: From what I read online, except that xbox has no "Dolby Vision" output available for discs yet (only streaming), the video/audio output is exactly the same as any other player.
Is that what you meant?

The only 4K Blu-Ray player I'd upgrade my Xbone for is a Panasonic model with tone-mapping (DP-UB820/DP-UB420).
Though the Xbox One doesn't support DV via blu-ray (only web-streaming apps), so there is that too.
I have the 420, it has Dolby vision. Bought it at the same time with my Panasonic GX800 which has Dolby vision and HDR 10+. Very happy with both. Couldn't justify the price difference to buy the 820.
Can xbone do bit stream to av reciever?
Which one is better?
I experienced several disc compatibility problems with the Sony. I ditched it in favour of the LG, and that one's not missed a beat.
Interesting, no problems with discs here. (fingers crossed it stays that way)
I was hoping we'd get the Sony UBPX-800M2 here, but yeah, not a fan of the 700.
Is the LG player region free on DVDs?
Nope. :|
I grabbed a region-free Laser Blu-ray player for ~$40 to play non-R4 DVDs and non-R2 BDs - does the job fine.
Thanks for the answer!
I've got an older Sony BDP-S3500 Blu-ray player that's region locked for Blu Rays, but it'll play any region DVD. I thought manufacturers were more flexible with DVD region coding nowadays. I guess i'll have to pass on the LG and try find one player that does them all (along with 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, etc.).
Just get an Xbox/PS ?
