  • How convenient. I've been recently thinking about getting something like a fancy Braun…

I just ordered the 760cc from Bill Guyatts. Here's to hoping they have stock and can get it to me by the end of the week - would be nice to try it out as soon as possible.

    • otherwise you'll have a beard for the weekend? :)

    • Got the same one from Billy Guyatts as well. I thought I don't need the quick wash and LCD display as it is otherwise the same as the 790cc.

    • -1

I've just oredered one as well. :)

  • +1

Perfect timing, my Phillips shaver of 5 years is giving up on me.

    • Ditto.. Anyone know if any of the current model still fit the Series 6 clean and charge unit?
At $139 for the 560 it's conveniently close to the price of a new cutter and foil!

  • Brilliant, just bought the 790cc from the shaver shop. Thanks for the post.

    • So is it 50% off $274.50 ?

      That's cheaper than amazon!

      • No, the price already reflected the 50% off.

  • +3

only $115usd on amazon for 590. even with a forwarding service, still cheaper than australian prices.

cue "cant compare local to oversea price" comments:

    • +6

cant compare local to overseas price

    • +2

thanks, kimmik for the head up

      • +2

is it just me or is the comma in the wrong place? It should be after kimmik, right?
Also why the h3ll did this bug me enough to comment about it?

        • +1

          she/he has crush on kimmik.

        • +1

At least (s)he added "up" ;)

    • At a price of ~$25 (less if you were to pretend that GST was included) surely the shipping time and less hassle if its DOA would be worth it.

      • +1

        plus the US power cord…

  • +2

Still using my Braun shaver from around 6 years ago, and still going strong. Highly recommended, and irresistible at this price (if I didn't already have one).

  • Tempting! Is the series 7 really worth the extra $$? and the Clean and Charge unit?

    • Clean and Charge unit is very nice.. but expensive to run if you buy the refills.
I refill my reservoir with denatured alcohol (and periodically bought a new refill when the whisker level has built up "too far") and have done so for the 6 years I've owned my 6 series.
I've had no issues with that shaver at all apart from the battery now starting to show signs of depleted charge (which is to be expected from a rechargeable after this time and the number of charge cycles its been through).

      • Clean and Charge unit is very nice.. but expensive to run if you buy the refills.

I take mine out of the cleaning station and put the lid back on when i am not using it to stop the liquid evaporating.
I clean mine once a week and the cleaning solution will last over 6 months

But as the shavers are waterproof you can take it into the shower to clean it out and save on the cleaning liquid.

  • I have bought a braun just turning 12m and its foil broke. Good shaver though and will consider upgrading.

    • For the foil to break after 12 months you are pushing the shaver too hard against your face.

As soon as it is touching your akin then you are pushing hard enough (ie not pushing the shaver into your face at all)

      • +6

But he's donkey Kong, there's a lot of hair to get through :)

        • +2

Had to log on just to positive that comment, haha

  • +1

Still using my Braun 7570 from 2004, so they tend to last quite a while, but never quite gave a close shave compared to a manual shaver, even when the foil and cutters have been changed. So good time to try a new one out. Anyway, Braun have 2 promotions going on at the moment.. There is a 60 day trial for some of the Mens Shavers. If you don't like it, you can return it for a full refund.

  • seems like billyguy server is running on intel 286. Anyway even with 50% off it is similar to Amazon price.

    • Yes, true but you get local warranty and the 60-day money back guarantee!

      • and free postage from Billy Guyatts as well, so you need to factor that into the Amazon Price.

        • and you get an Aussie power cord, so add on a few more $$ for the US->AU adapter plug and a few more for the convenience of not having to get one and lug it around everywhere, gotta be at least $6 "value" even if you're a massive tightarse like most of us here!

  • This is a tremendous post! thank you it was very useful!

  • Just to clarify for people, prices shown on these websites are already 50% off . You don't get additional 50% Off from Braun. I had that pleasant thought when i first saw this deal.

  • So are all stores running this promotion? Eg. can I rock up to the Shaver Shop and pick one up?

    • I just went to Myer and Shavershop in Brisbane and neither were running this deal.

  • Bought the series 7 about a year ago, it is the best shaver. However, the cleaning fluids are too $$ they are around 20$ for 2 packs. Which only last for 3 months.

    • Can you just use the "clean/charge unit" as a charger only (maybe occasionally use the auto-clean)

      • No, I'm pretty sure mine only starts charging when I press the "lock button", which also activates the cleaning cycle (automatically selected by the shaver depending on how long it's been since you ran a clean)
You can charge the shaver directly by plugging it straight into the wall though.

As mentioned above, I refill my fluid reservoir with denatured alcohol (Metho is quite wet and might rust components).
I replace the reservoir roughly annually with a new one.

      • If you do not want it to charge only take the cleaning fluid out and put the lid back on the fluid container.

If you do that whenever you are not using the cleaning fluid it will last much longer

      • +1

Yep, it charges once the contacts touch, so no need to use the clean function, they're totally separate.

        • Thanks guys. so I should able to use the unit as a charger (rather than pluging/umpluging a cord) and mainly use the cleaning function once every 2wks or so…

        • You can also just use the cord as the ac/dc adapter is in the plug in order to use it for travelling. You don't even have to unpack the cleaning unit (i have 760cc)

  • I wonder what price the 50% discount is from… for the 760cc, the Shaver Shop is showing $244 whilst Billy Guyatts is showing $203 with free delivery. Wonder if Shaver shop would match price…

  • Also, I'm not sure what the difference is, but in the US they are already selling the 760cc-4 model (as opposed to 760cc-3). So these may be superseded stock. On the other hand, I can't see any major differences so much of a muchness.

    • but in the US they are already selling the 760cc-4 model (as opposed to 760cc-3). So these may be superseded stock

They are the same shaver, both models are the same age.
The cc-4 and cc-3 has to do with the packaging and the country it is being sold in.

The only difference between the models is the box, the instruction manual and the charger plug.

    • The ones on sale here are the 760cc-3.

The ebay does not seem to be

Without a beard you're no different to every other woman and child.

  • +2

I have had a 390CC (with cleaning station) from new and find it takes about 3 times as long to get a good shave than with a cheap disposable razor. I find I have to rub over the same area for ages and end up with very irritated skin. I don't have a particularly course beard either. I read the instructions on how to shave and that didn't help. It would be good if you were away from home though. I only use it now for the edge trimmer.

i can get one for my dad! father's day gift~

  • Nice, combine this with the Amex Promo and buy some more stuff to total $250 and you get $50 back…
Might stroll around to my local GG's later today and see what's available…

    • If any other retailers are participating like Harvey Norman, then it certainly sounds like an idea.

      How was GG?

  • Try using these with shave oil for an even better shave

So how is this different than a normal $1 razor.

  • I just purchased the 790cc-3 for $274.50 pickup from Shaver Shop in Melbourne, there are plenty still available.

My Last Braun (7680) was purchased in Feb 2003 from the US, the charge still lasts 3 weeks, I never used the base station and cleaned with the Braun Shaver Saver solution which saved me thousands in replacement cartridges.

Need to sell my old shaver as I just replaced the foils and cutter, I upgraded for the sake of upgrading with this deal I couldn't resist!

  • Should I buy the 560 or 760?

    • +2

If you can afford the extra get the 760. A good review here

      • Thanks Martyn.

Is it worth spending $200 to buy a shaver when you are not a hairy dude? Sometimes I shave every 2 days with my razors.

        • Sometimes i shave once a month. Long live the beard!

PS - i thought the store was a specific shave shop - with the name being a take on "Billy Goats"!!

        • When I wet shaved I had to shave every few days, I find with electric I need to shave every day, the shave isn't as close. Also my electric shaver is really bad with longer hair, gives some really painful tugs on the hair and I have to go over the same area over and over, so it's worth doing it often. On the plus side it only takes me 2 minutes and I never get shaving rash or cuts like I used to.

        • Is it a decent shaver? I've got a 790CC (same as available here) and it's awesome. Had a top-of-the-line Braun for seven years before that as well. Can't beat 'em.

  • Thanks OP, just ordered a 760cc. Hopefully Billy Guyatts can handle the flood of orders they are probably getting right now!

  • if i mostly just want to trim stubble am i better off getting the vs sassoon itrim?

  • Thanks ordered a 760cc

great price! gonna take it out to get GST back too :P

    • how?

      • +1

bought2x 760, one for me dad, and going overseas in less than a month, so getting travellers gst refund

        • Do you have to keep it seal in box or you can use it before you go?

        • +1

You are allowed to use it as long as you present both the item and the tax invoice at the gst refund counter. Interesting thing with electric shavers is sometimes security check will cause dramas but other times will let you through without any problems…

        • +2

I'm haven't had any issues with shavers, but if you wanted to be on the safe side, you can put them in your checked luggage, and still claim the refund.

To do this, visit the customs desk before checking in(usually located in the arrivals hall) to inspect your items, they'll stamp your receipt as "verified". You can then put your items into your checked luggage. Then proceed to the GST refund counter as usual (post immigration) to process your refund.

In fact, once you have the receipt stamped verified, you don't even need to take the items with you!

        • Remember your single invoice need a total of $300 or more to claim (so like b00gie, you can get another shaver…)

        • Thanks for the responses and tips guys!
BTW how long the items can be valid for? ie. 1 month, 3 months?

        • +1

Have to travel within 30 days of purchase if that's what you're asking.

        • thanks ccrap!

  • Excellent deal, however Billy Guyatts are out of 760cc already, any other suggestions where to get it from as shaveshop has it for $244.50 but I saw it at Blly guyatts for $205 this arvo?

    • ozbargained again!! as you only pay a few more dollars to get the charge and clean unit.

      • Sorry, do you mean it has been OzBargained again somewhere?

  • Order the 760 from BGs last night. The 790 is just not worth the extra $75.
A little concerned about the amount of negative feedback on their ebay site.
Apparently take a long time to deliver.

  • Thanks for the great post!
Any idea (anyone) if BG is going to get in more 760cc?
The extra $40+ from Shaver Shop is a bit daunting!

Or are there any other vendors for that matter?

    Thanks! :)

  • Thank you for your order from Billy Guyatts. Once your package ships we will send an email with a link to track your order.

Has anybody received their tracking details yet? I'm still waiting…

    • no, still waiting placed yesterday

    • +2

look at their negative ebay feedback
      http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&u…

They sometimes don't ship for up to 11 days after the order is processed.
      Don't hold your breath.

    • I emailed them regarding my order and get this reply "We apologize for the delay but we have had a few staff away sick and your order will be shipped out shortly."

      • damn the waiting game >_<

  • Billy Guyatts are still alive?!

  • how does these compare to the panasonic shavers?

Bought a panasonic one from amazon a few years ago. Thinking of replacing it.

    • Never had a Panasonic but reviews suggest they are comparable, if you want to stick with Panasonic you can get something like the ES-LA63-S shipped from Amazon for ~$150. I was about to pull the trigger on that when this special came up so I decided to stick with Braun.

  • This email is from Billy Guyatts.

"Please accept our appologies for the delay in despatching your order. Unfortunately a number of our staff have been off sick, we will endeavor to rectify this delay over the weekend. It is anticipated that your order will be dispatched on Monday"

    • Yea, I got that too. I found it pretty amusing.

Guess they've all got colds or something :p

  • Got a phone call saying they were over sold, will be in stock later this week.

    • that'll be awesome, really want the 760

  • Please be advised that your goods have been shipped Billy Guyatts.

Just received shipping confirmation on 760CC-3. Tracking code received in second email.

  • My 760CC-3 had arrived this morning from Billy Guyatts.
It is charging now. Interesting that the blade and foil are now one unit. I will not able to clean the blade with my usual way.

  • bought 2 760CC, received only 1, and their website states my order is complete

waited patiently for this, absolutely pathetic service >_<

    waiting for their response now

  • I had a look on BG's online store but I only see Braun 720 for $199. That's not the 760-cc3 people are buying right? Want to order one for Father's Day. Could someone kindly send me the link if u have it. Thanks heaps.
