Novice here. Is this one of the best options available in the market around this price range?
Yeah it's a pretty good all rounder. Image quality isn't the best but it actually fits in a normal pocket unlike a lot of '''''compact''''' cameras
Would you know how is it compared to Canon PowerShot SX740? Seems better zoom, lower price and better processor I guess

different classes. G9X has 1 inch cmos.
@lovbargain: Okay.. I don't really know what 1 inch cmos is. But between the two cameras, which one is better purely for the purpose of taking random photos and shooting random videos
@ashftc: The bigger the sensor, the more sensitive it is, and generally it will capture better photos. 1 inch is relatively big for a compact camera.
Is this the type of digital camera you are looking for? Something more advanced than a point and shoot but without interchangeable lenses?
I have no other conditions other than it should be around $350 mark and should be a nice camera preferably with 4k video recording. It's for my uncle (who don't want to use smart phone as an alternative)
This G9X-II operates more like a smartphone than a traditional camera. If your uncle is more comfortable with physical control buttons and dials than this isn't the one.
@alvian: How about Canon PowerShot SX740?
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/canon-powershot-sx740-hs-…
@ashftc: Deciding on value for money alone the G9X-II is a better buy. But it has no 4k video or a tilt screen like the SX740. Cameras on flagship smartphones produce better photos than the SX.
@ashftc: Take a look here for alternatives in your price range. https://www.dpreview.com/buying-guides
