Edit: sorry my mistake, slightly different model.
That's the FHD(1080p) version of this monitor. This deal is WQHD(1440p)
Anyone know if G - sync works with this monitor?
If you have a GTX 10 or 20 series you can enable G-sync on any freesync monitor
how does one do this?
It's in the Nvidia control panel, here is a guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-freesync-display-n…
What about a 1660?
Yup
Does not support variable refresh rate, so no Gsync/Freesync and low price. Yup, freesync isn't free.
Yes this model has Freesync.
C27JG54 (this deal) and C27JG56 both have it. They are different model numbers for different markets.
C27JG50 does not have Freesync.See the manual (page 30) here: https://www.samsung.com/ph/support/model/LC27JG54QQEXXP/
No Freesync on this one. The CHG70 would be the one with the same specs + freesync.
No, it would be the JG56, which isn't sold here.
CHG70 has a QLED backpanel with backlight strobing, and is probably discontinued at this point.
no reviews on this monitor

Virtually identical, but with the addition of Freesync.
Any suggestions for video/picture editing monitor around the same price?
You can go lower than this, but you'd want to get yourself a calibrator if you're serious about colour accuracy.
If you're needing a wide colour palette though, you're going to have to shell out for more than this, and you might want to sit tight for like a year and wait for OLED options to come into range.
Kinda need it now, what would you suggest?
I have absolutely zero idea about your requirements. What colour gamut are you working with?
If it's sRGB only, you should look into an IPS which calibrates well. RTings will help you with a dataset for that. Then, you need to buy an entry-level calibrator.
@jasswolf: I honestly don't even know what that is. It just a hobby and i am still learning.. but my old monitor isn't working well anymore and i need something around this price range :(
@Dotherightthing: Have a look at the Philips 276E8VJSB.

15% off with code.
@jasswolf: Will look into this.. thank you for your recommendation
I recall this monitor being close to 350 last year as I almost bought it … But I ended up getting an AOC c27g1 for 260
That's probably the older JG50 model version that has no G-sync
I think you're right! I didn't realise the difference
My bad
Where did you get it for that price? I was also shopping for 144hz monitors last year…
I got the AOC when it was on some sale on ebay
I can't remember which store but it had at least 20% offSure you're not mistaken for this?:
https://www.ebay.com.au/i/223746209506?chn=ps&norover=1&mkev…It's 260 after 20% off
@Abomination: Nah I got a 27" I'm using it right now. It was around $350 listed price
curved = snake oil. Biggest con in display technology.
It's not snake oil, it's manufacturers trying to reduce the practical viewing angle of VA panels.
they exist in IPS panels too.
All of which are ultrawides, which also suffer viewing angle issues at those dimensions.
@jasswolf: If curving it is to reduce its perceived size, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? You are distorting your view in order to make the screen not look as wide.
If you try to play a shooter on a 32:9 screen you're going to get massive fish eye distortion on the sides.
@lostn: I've described this incorrectly last night: it's to reduce the impact of viewing angle issues while slightly increasing immersiveness and perceived screen size.
It's used mostly on VA because of their poor horizontal viewing angles while used as a flat panel, which is a bigger issue for typical monitor/desk configurations versus TVs.
Fish-eye distortion doesn't apply due to the design and typical curvature of our vision, and it's something that will feature more in VR tech over time.
@jasswolf: fish eye is caused in the games themselves, nor our vision. Every shooter is like that. Racers might be the same.
@lostn: FoV is usually adjustable, and failing that it'd be a consideration in ultrawide resolution support.
Not a deal. They have jacked up before discount. These are pretty much always $399 standard price.
