Been after one of these for my kids school projects so not dragging a wire from the cheap corded one we have. Has been over $100 for the last three months which is rediculous but this seems quite reasonable to me.

Looks like a good price for a Bosch, but if you have a need for other power tools or already have compatible batteries, the Ozito Power X Change cordless hot glue gun will work better for longer or larger jobs.

I have the flat version of the Bosch 3.6V glue gun and it's OK for small items and short jobs, but doesn't do great with things that requires longer usage or more glue. The runtime isn't terribly long, and the small heating coil and thermal mass can't handle higher volumes of glue. Once you've squeezed out a certain amount of glue, you have to wait till it heats up again. It also uses smaller 7mm glue sticks which would cost more in the long run. And when the battery runs flat, you have to wait hours to recharge it.

Ozito also has a 12V range. The glue gun is $24.98 and the battery is $24.99 which makes it just a little more than this, so it could be another viable option. It also uses 7mm glue sticks like the Bosch unlike the 11mm sticks on the 18V Ozito, but runtime and heating speed should be quite a bit better.

All that said, if your gluing tasks aren't large, this should do the job just fine!

      👍 this guy glues

    • Do you recommend glue guns for things like shoe straps that have unstuck, or would they only be useful for things that don't involve a lot of daily pressure and movement?

      • No and yes. For strong adhesion like a loose shoe sole or strap need to use something like a contact adhesive.

Is there any difference between glue sticks itself?
I saw cheap cheap ones on eBay as well as more expensive brands.
