Wonder how the v40 battery life matches phones with much larger batteries? Is it aggressive in closing background apps or something?
Yeah, I think its a clever use of power optimisation, resource management and proprietary battery tech (QNOVO technology etc). LGs pack a lot of punch for the money.
It's the software tuneing. I did antutu benchmarks a couple of times and the performance of the phone compares to midrange phones. The 845 inside is most likely starving for some battery juice
Really? I looked into some Antutu scores when I was checking out reviews, and it scored right around other SD845 phones:

Their ebay listing states 2 year manufacturer warranty. But checking LG support site doesn't list the V40 for 2 years.
Weird. When you go to the product page on the LG site, and then 'Where to buy', it lists only MobileCiti and Kogan as official sellers. They both mention two year warranty specifically.
That's a good point though. I'm going to screenshot the eBay listing so I have proof it was sold as two year warranty. Surely they can't get away from that?
Alright mine arrived (somehow got from Parramatta to Adelaide under 24 hours?) And the warranty card that comes with the phone indeed says two years.
Good to know, thanks. But guess it means LG support doesn't care to update their website it seems.
Damn. Wish it would stop getting cheaper and cheaper as I am about to move to a Note 10.
BTW. This is an amazing phone for $699, $599 and even more so at $499! Nothing comes close.
The Mi 9 not only comes close but betters it for around the same price.
The Xiaomi 9T Pro for $510 is better spec wise.
I've got a P20 and the battery is starting to go, this might be a nice in between phone.
the bose is only at 10% if not mistaken
Hi Desailly,
Are you an eBay Plus member? The coupon code takes 15% off for eBay Plus members and 10% for non-members. Thanks
Sadly im not. Didn't realise that the % in discount could be member specific. Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like Prime membership is needed for that price (with 15% discount and free delivery), otherwise more like $540
You mean Ebay Plus?
eBay Prime Plus Diamond
I have the V40 & it's a really nice phone though it does a few slightly annoying quirks. Can't believe it's now priced at under 1/2 what I paid for it a bit over a year ago XD! (imported from Korea just after release before they started selling them here).
Anyone buying this won't be disappointed
what are the annoying quirks?
Good deal!
Excellent bang for buck. Can't see LG ever being able to sell full price flagships when they launch.
Damn good when comparable to Samsung but half the price. I think Samsung may be better quality though
The phone is no where near the perfomance of a samsung s9 according the the benchmarks i have done
this VS $420 Oppo Reno 2Z last deal?
Really tempted to pick this over $700 Huawei mate 20 pro. Only thing stopping me is the battery. I did read though we can replace v30s batteries for under $100. Could this be true for v40 too?
If you watch the video I posted above, the V40 actually beat the Mate 20 Pro in battery life.
As for replacment, it should be around the V30 price if it's at the LG service centre (Evertec in Lidcombe).
31 hours after full charge down to 9% with dual sim mode active on my v40
Good deal, returning the LG G7 to jb and snapping this one for $100 more i think is a good idea. Luckily Toll took ages to deliver and the G7 was unopened.
so many V40 deals but no G7 deals :(
V40 is a good price when you consider what you get for your money:
6.4" QHD+ OLED Display @ 538 ppi
Snapdragon 845
128gb storage
6gb RAM
5 camera setup with manual mode
DTS:X, HDR10
32 Bit Quad DAC
BoomBox Speaker
Headphone Jack
microSD card
HD Audio Recorder
IP68 rating
Gorilla Glass 5
Google Assistant Key
NFC
Wireless Fast-Charge
2 year Man. Warranty
The smaller battery is maybe a concern on paper, but in real world use it performs really well:
