Are There Any True Wireless security Cameras That Dont Invade Privacy?

Basically I just want a camera that I can hook up wirelessly (battery, wifi), set up a vlan and record them to a desktop computer. Dont know what software ill run but im sure ill find something…
Main catch is they have to be available locally, its for a job someones requested I do this weekend if possible. 1080p, good night vision etc. Ideally supports 24/7 recording.
Probably a budget of $200 or so per camera and need 4. Wasnt sure if the arlos or eufy work 24/7 without being online.

The local hotel/motel wants to understand the in-room guest experience better and is concerned about those pesky privacy wowsers discovering their hidden cams?

Arlo needs to be online, I own an Arlo Pro 2 system. The newer Arlo, I don’t know. Euly I can’t speak for. And added to that, they are way more than $200 per camera.

And what do you mean when you say “that don’t invade privacy”? That has more to do with where you put them than how the cameras operate.

You will find that most cameras that run on battery and operate over wifi won’t run 24\7 and usually have motion sense recording. Of the ones that do record continuously, you would need to replace/recharge the batteries every day. You are not going to get 24/7 recording to a PC with wifi and battery with 1080, wifi and night vision.

What you may be able to do is get a camera that runs off USB and connect it to one of those phone charger backup batteries.

what do you mean when you say “that don’t invade privacy”?

Not OP, but I take it as "don't need to communicate with the manufacturer's servers"

      • Yeah, I thought that as well, right up until I read the "Arlo/Eufy" question.

To me, what it sounds like OP is asking is "what camera can I buy that does all this and can be hidden so people cant find it."

        • Yeah I mean it as dont communicate to random servers. As long as the data is local and it never connects to the internet it should be fine. By internet I don't mean vlan which I think is a bit of confusion in the wAy I worded it.

  • For 24/7 Recording, you need a good camera ie Hikvision, PVR with at least two HD (one as backup). This setup will put you in around $2000;
Keeping in mind, 24/7 Recording of 1080 x 4 is lots of data. And how far you want to keep it?
Invade Privacy? Soon as Camara go online , you are invading the privacy.

  • That Dont Invade Privacy

What does this mean? A security camera, effectively by definition, invades someone's privacy.

    • That isn't necessarily true, if the camera is only monitoring your own premises for intruders.

I think OP is talking about the generic Chinese CCTV cameras. As they are easily hackable due to China making the manufacture place backdoor, and them running exploitable busy box environments.

  • I have the Wyzecam. I didnt use it to record 24/7 but It supports RTSP so u could use a Synology nas for instance to do the recording….
