What's happened to the screen?
Look it up on digital foundry. It has a much stronger tint (maybe magenta?) than the original
Yeah this new switch model will have a lot of people seeing red.
@DuckKnight: Don't know whether to downvote or upvote. Are you a Dad?
I’m looking at both models side by side right now and I can’t see any difference in the colour or any other aspect of the screens whatsoever. Viewing angle, colour balance, saturation, response time all the same. Battery life on the new one is almost double (at max screen brightness) however.
The variable panels were introduced earlier in the lifespan - launch switches all had the same panels from one supplier, but as of ~1-1.5 years later they started introducing multiple suppliers to keep up with demand, which has continued through to the present with the 2019 model.
The screen colours vary based on random chance. Mine is actually almost identical to the launch switch that I replaced, but for other people they will get warmer screens.
@ThoseDeafMutes: What about the switch lite? How good is the screen on that in comparison?
@TRANCE: Don't know enough to confirm if they're variable. Even with the worst panels though, they're still decent screens and you're not going to notice unless you've got something to compare it to. If you survived the Nintendo 3DS garbage screens, it's pure heaven.
@ThoseDeafMutes: Just watched a DF comparison, Lite has the brightness screen and best white point, but also the worst black level and saturation. So its a trade-off.
I won't worry too much. If you get this, most of the time, you'll be running off a tv.
Those time you aren't running off a tv, human eyes can only distinguish so much that a little less 'resolution' isn't going to make that much of an impact.
I'm very happy with the switch I got.
I thought the screen just wasn't fixed? Still a bit of quality lottery…but in reality, it's only for those super observant?
I wear thicc glasses and I'm blind af so this screen should be fine
Nintendo does have a history with 3DS of using different screens in a lottery, it wouldn't surprise me. When you see the two screens side by side the difference is quite stark.
I want to know if the original use the same battery as 2019 version. When I replace my battery can I use the one from 2019 version
Is the Nintendo Switch the best console for fitness games? I'm looking for a console with the primary focus of at home workouts. I've noticed there's Ring Fit Adventure and some fitness boxing, are there other options as well or would you recommend a different console?
go for a walk or run.
I hate cardio with a passion, it's so boring! Unless it involves running downstairs to collect my Smith's Salt n Vinegar chips
Do the same, but grab a piece of fruit instead.
Honestly, you may need to go back to the Xbox 360 or Wii/WiiU. This generation Fitness games have moved on and been replaced with VR games.
Ok I will do a bit more research into those! Thank you
I am in the same boat. would prefer fitness/sports games that involves more body than thumb movement (This is for my son).
VR beatsaber looks like a workout. Or play any game you die alot in and set a circuit for everytime you die
Yes, I have heard that Ring Fit Adventure is actually quite good.
just dance
i dont know your situation but something that changed for me was taking up a sport. i like playing the sport since it was fun and challenging and the fitness was just a side benefit. i hate cardio and lifting weights with a passion because its so mind numbingly boring.
racquet sports are generally good i find because they can ramp up in difficulty if you want (squash, badminton, tennis to a degree but i find its a bit harder to get started since you need a level of skill to have fun) and you only need 1 more person to play.
"looking for a console with the primary focus of at home workouts" - lol, I have made up some bullsh*t justifications to my better half over the years in order to get the blessing to buy crap I want- but 'I need a console to help me get fit' is top drawer nonsense. A+.
Starting somewhere is better then no where who ruined your weetbix
If it can keep me fit and entertained on my gym off days why not? Cardio is boring :)
it's actually a really good idea, and not for you to say what works for soneone else
How to be sure that this is the new model? I can't find the SKU stated anywhere on the page.
At the bottom of the description it mentions: "Battery life: Approximately 4.5 - 9 hours *The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." This is the same description on the Nintendo website for the 2019 model https://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendo-switch-systems/compare/
I Ate 4 family bags of kettle chips yesterday. No food til Wednesday needed.
Wonder if price will drop closer to xmas….
Probably not.
Switch consoles are in high demand right now and with Christmas Day quickly approaching, people tend to get more desperate and therefore, are willing to pay more to avoid disappointment.
Supply and Demand….
However, I would expect if one retailer dropped its price, then its competitor would, and then another to undercut both.. etc.
I’m looking to get a new console today, what is everyones opinion what should i get? PS4 Pro or this bundle switch?
Depends on two things
-portability ; and
-what sort of games you'll enjoy.
If Zelda/Pokemon are absolute must for you, then you don't have an option but to get a switch.
Thanks Puppie i think you might’ve just given me my answer
Just like the Bose headphones, i think this is going to be the new Ozb RRP for Switch.
the colour of the box doesnt mean anything best buy are selling the old version in the new red box

That does not apply to us Aussies. They are all the revised versions, no need to stress.
Also, looks like the US consoles have the games hard-bundled (code packed in the box in the factory), whereas our consoles are soft-bundled - the codes are handed to us separate from the box.
Thanks for the reply. I have confirmed with the seller it is the latest model.
To your comment though - are you sure about that? Check the latest comment here

super deal, just bought, thanks!
there's also a deal on the Gamesmen Ebay where you can get the Switch, Mario Kart and Mario Odyssey for $443.66 - so you can essentially pay an extra 50 bucks for a copy of Odyssey, which isn't too shabby :)
