    Thanks just donated.
A bit annoyed they won't let you donate without a mailing address - I don't like getting stupid donation-spam-scam-letters.
Luckily I used my workplace address ;)

    • I absolutely hate/despise those spam letters after a donation. All that $$$ going to generate spam letters instead of the "cause"

How much is 2000 points worth?

    • Yeah how many dollarydoosies

    • Approximately $10 worth in terms of Frequent flyer point.

Who is paying for the bonus points? Wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the bonus points is being deducted from your donation!

Charities are not bargains. Read the posting rules.

Wonder what the tax implications will be now that you are receiving a benefit in return for your donations namely the points.

ATO could have a field day.

    • only if they find out

    • Implication is that it's not tax deductible

  • If this is frequent flyer points, 2000 points is at most $10, likely even less as the utilisation is poor at such low point numbers.

You're also technically voiding the ability to claim your tax deduction on the charitable donation by receiving a gift (typically around 30%).

So, this "deal" has a value of around -$20 over the do nothing case, completing neglecting the money given away (which is fine- this is one of the better charities imo).

tl;dr: awful deal, don't do this
