  • Posted this deal in my Facebook 4WD group and was just about to post it here.
Bought one myself even though I already owned a Kings awning.

    • Sorry mate bet you to it ;) hoping these are good based on reviews.

      • What are the reviews? As good as the kings brand that everyone seem to be rocking?

        • I have one of the older ridge ryder awnings and a kings rear awning so can't comment 100% on the quality of this model. The kings is significantly worse. The ridge ryder holds itself in rain better, and has a less transparent canvas. I find my kings pools and leaks every time it rains, where it seems to run off the rydge ryder better (and yes i always set them up so water can run off). Would recommend the ridge ryder over a kings any-day.

Kings are popular due to price, not quality.

        • Search YouTube. Someone has compared this Ridge Ryder premium awning with the Kings, commented this is better quality than the Kings. The aluminium brackets with holes where the poles inserted in the Kings is weak, easily bent and broke in many. My Kings is already bent.

The 2m variant is on sale if you have a Ute or something, $59

      $57.23 Ebay with POTTER3 code

      • Good point, thanks.

  • Already have Kings, tempting to buy this one as a spare … crazy price

    • +2

Same here. My kings is even unopened!

    • these are better than kings… i just bought a 2nd .. just in case i need it hahha

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed one.

    $66.93 with POTTER3 code on Ebay.. for 2.5 x 2.5

    • +2

Oh but Shopback has 6% cashback on SCA.

  • I think the full tent version of this for $99 is good value too
    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/ridge-ryder-ridge-ryder-…

    • but this does not include the awning, right? but it's a good addon

      • Correct. You need to buy the awning separately.

    • Not available for delivery…

  • I have been running one of these for the last 2 years compared to the kings they use a slightly thicker canvas, spikes in the bottom of there poles, beyond that there isn’t much difference but at this price it’s a steal.

  • Yep. Got one. Can’t refuse at this price. Don’t have rails or racks to fit it to yet. Another Black Friday purchase??!!!

  • Any recommendations on sizing (2.5m vs 2m) for a Medium Sized SUV? 2009 Subaru Forester.
Don't need it.. Might come in handy, who knows.. Ozbargain way!

  • These dont't have long enough spikes on the cross arms to be stable. Will go up but are a bit more fragile than your typical awning

  • Got one! Thanks OP! <3

eBay plus 15% code PILGRIM works on this, if you combine with other things to meet the minimum $120.

In my case, I paid Switch and this awning together.

    • ugh. i paid for them separately not realising that i could use PILGRIM for the awning as well. and the returns process seems complicated as, so probably won't look at returning this and ordering again.

time to hand my ozb badge in…

  • Any recommendations on size for a ranger with canopy? It's for my folks car and I'm unsure of sizes.

I'd imagine the 2.5x2.5 would fit easy enough.

Any comments on quality too? Given their RRP, I'd expect them to be decent quality.

    • 2.5 x 2.5 would be plenty big enough mate

    • +2

these are better than kings… they are quite decent imho as i already have 1… i use it with yakima quick release
      https://www.anacondastores.com/cycling/bike-accessories/yaki…

very easy to take on an off the car.

      • Looks good, but more expensive than the awning 😉

        • +1

it is more expensive but well worth it if you dont want to drive around with the awning on all the time.. it must be a real hassle taking it on and off. with the quick release it takes minutes to put on and less than a minute to take off.

          • @hippyhippy: It depends on how often you use your awning. I use four T-bolts to slide into the rails of my roof rack, then attach the awning with its L-brackets onto those T-bolts, screw them tight and go. Doesn't take long either and much cheaper. Got those Rola T-bolts from Supercheap Auto for $20.

  • Recommendation for Holden Colarado tub?

  • Do you just attach with uclamps if you already have roof racks?? Or is there a better way?

    • my post above… its a much better way

  • Awesome deal. Got the 2.5m for a prado

  • Cheers OP, just grabbed one.

  • Got one! Thanks OP!

  • I just bought the 2x2.5 through ebay. It suggested to use the code PPD13 which took $59 off the price? So I only paid for postage. Don't know what happened but I have the confirmation email.

    • Damn, score man

I get: "Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order."

  • Got one - thanks!!

  • Got one, also had $9.90 Loyalty Bonus sitting in my Supercheap account so it was further discounted. :-)

  • Can these be installed without roof racks?

    • No.

  • thank you!!!!

  • Cheers, grabbed one as well for the other car - now to find a cheap set of the T-Bolts so I can attach to my roof racks..

  • Thanks - got one click and collect!

  • +1

Sorry to the guy who asked to hold one in SCA Auburn, I took the last one :')

  • Can this be used as a makeshift carport to prevent from hail?

    • No unless you know how to fabricate some attachment to your house, to attach this awning.
But then awning is not a good idea when there is strong wind. It might flip over and smash your car instead.

      • that's what I thought. Thanks. Can you recommend anything for hail prevention at home that does not require council approval?

        • Moving blankets. More then 1 I reckon.

  • Hopefully the 2.5 x 2.5 will fit a Ute with a fibreglass canopy somehow. I've seen canopies with rails before…

  • Thanks OP

Just bought one as an early Christmas gift :)

  • Thanks, ordered 2.5x2.5 for click&collect

  • Thanks OP I have been hanging out for a good deal on a quality awning for the last month or two, both new and used. Almost bought the 2.5m x 2.5m SCA No Brand awning for $99 during the recent click frenzy deal but held off and then last week almost picked up a second hand Kings awning off Gumtree for $80 but thought I should wait it out. Thanks OP you are a champion because I have now bought a brand new, better quality awning with click and collect for only $69, made my Black Friday…now to find some cheap computer parts or just buy a Techfast PC.

  • +1

Thanks OP!. Got a 2.5mx2.5m click and collect from the supercheap online store. Picked that up and ordered a 2.0mx2.5m via eBay wit c&c. (Wouldn't let me get a second 2.5x2.5m. I paid both times with Paypal, maybe a different payment method would have worked). Pitty the rear awning didn't have such a big discount.

edit - I didn't realize that postage is only $6.95 to rural areas. That worked for the second 2.5mx2.5m.

    • They tried to hit me with $33 postage just 3hr north of Sydney.

      • Yeah. Not sure why I got such low postage to far north QLD. It seems strange for a large item. That was from the eBay store.

  • Click and collect disappearing fast, still worth paying for delivery. Thanks

  • Does this come with T clamps included?

  • 8% discounted gift card, plus cash rewards, plus free delivery.
(They said as I placed my online order, someone bought the last one in store.)
    It's being freighted to me.
