Wouldn't choose Kogan when the price is the same at retailers who won't screw you with warranty processes

    • Fair enough, but this deal is great if you still have leftover from Woolworths 10% off Kogan Gift Card.

Also since it AU Stock, you could always deal directly with Nintendo Australia.

      • +6

Dealing directly with Nintendo Australia is definitely a disadvantage. They still have 2 of my joy cons from last year that had really bad drift. Apparently they couldn't find anything wrong with them and wanted me to pay to have them shipped back.

Buy from a reliable retailer is my advice.

    • And you can walk in the door, get it and go straight home and play it.

    Cheaper at Target tomorrow https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/498789

    • +1

Doesn't include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Better value to pay the extra $30 for game (which shouldn't be too difficult to resell).

      • This comes with a downloadable code so resell would be an issue

        • +2

Could always sell the Download Code.

      • Do we know the target deal doesn't come with it for sure?

        • Based on the News Post by Nintendo, it mentions 'Limited Bundle', which I'm assuming mean specifically marked boxes.

          • @RichardL: It doesn't mention anything about that. And considering Nintendo are ending the deal after a certain timeframe rather than explicitly tied to stock levels, I'm assuming this is a separate code or a code printed on the receipt upon purchase

      • plus delivery

    • +2

Kogan has 3% cashback and a 14day free trial on "Kogan First"
      Brings price down to $387.03

  • note MK8 comes as download code which is the same as Jb Hifi deal.

so is the JB deal still better?

    • +1

Technically the same deal as JB Hi-Fi, just depends on what Gift Card/personal store preference.

I'm personally waiting to see what Amazon AU has to offer, before making any decision.

      • yeah same here, and I'm already prepared to receive disappointments from Amazon and eBay this Friday, if nothing comes up maybe JB Hifi will be the best deal?

        • +1

If no better deal appears, then JB Hi-Fi would most likely be the best option (Especially combined with 5% off eGift Card through various Platform)

          • @RichardL: May have already been mentioned, but last year Amazon shipped the Black Friday Switch MK8 bundle with a physical copy.

  • +1

Rumour has it that the Mario Kart bundles are the old model switch despite the packaging looking like the new.

That for the US, which has a different Box Art.

Refer to JB Hi-Fi Deal Post Description for more information

      • Yeah, hopefully right. I noticed that tye JB image from the catalogue doesn't include a pic of the box.
I think it'll pay to be careful and check your model number in case Nintendo AU does have new box art (for this deal) but includes the old model.
That would be a pretty crap move on their behalf but kind of understandable depending on how much old stock they are/were sitting on.

        • The SKU for the Nintendo Switch from the JB Hi-Fi catalogue, is for the 2019 model.

        • You can check the console via the SKU or serial number also.

    • I wish that were true and we could still buy the homebrew-able models here. But the JB one appears to be new.

      • Is homebrew a jailbreak?

        • Well you need to run the exploit and install a custom firmware to run homebrew. And only much older models have the hardware flaw which we can exploit.

P.S. When I said "JB" in my comment, I meant "JB Hifi" not "Jailbreak".

  • There's nothing new in this Kogan deal, as Kogan is just price matching the JB-HiFi deal announced a few days before.

  • Anyone know what the current trade-in value roughly is for a (non 2019) Switch through EB Games?

    • Depending on how old the switch, it might be better to sell on the secondhand market (eBay, Gumtree Marketplace etc).

    • I sold my first release console in box for $360 plus postage on eBay the other week… Resell is still very good at the moment

      • Wowzers! Mine was xmas last year, but I doubt I still have the box. :(

      • Because that is unpatched?

        • Was an unpatched console (didn’t even know you can patch it), was in really good nick as well.
Wasn’t expecting it to sell for that much, so in the end the upgrade to the newer console only cost me $39.

          • @Shads: Some have been selling unpatched Switch for $400 on Gumtree so your price was quite reasonable. I guess it was sold very quickly?

            • @wtfnodeal: Nah was up for about a week before it sold.

              • @Shads: Haha you probably didn't mention it was unpatched. I put mine up on Gumtree for $340 stating it had low serial number was sold within a day.

            • @wtfnodeal: Do hacked PS4s on 5.05 sell for a lot as well?

I know someone who's willing to swap me a switch lite for his un-patched one. I'll let him know that he can just sell it on gumtree for more provided he mentions that it's un-patched.

Now waiting on Amazon to do the same

  • Didn't we get the $315 switch this time last year? I can't believe we still haven't had another at that price.

    • Don't think we'll reach that low for the 2019 model.

    • Yep $329 less $15 AMEX deal less cashback brought it to $276.62

  • Wish my $300 Kogan Money credit was in now
