These are a really quite cooler and great upgrade from a standard OEM cooler . Had one for years (minus LED's ) and It's been faultless . Had many high end coolers previously and for the money these are a bargain . probably not for the overclocking feind but perfect for everybody else that just wants a quite fan and a bit of extra headroom . I find the Ryzen fans perfectly adequate but for Intel owners these are definitely a step up .

@Budju: I used to cool my i7-6700k with 212X, it was doing quite alright with 1.4V but quite hot (for fun). The NH-D15S with extra poopy fan after that was however an even bigger step up.
@Bigboomboom: I got an NH-D15 for my Mum's build, who doesn't even game. I'm contemplating gifting her the Hyper 212 I just bought and swapping out that dual fan beast haha.
@Budju: You could just do U12S and keep poopy cooler for your Mum. IMO U12S and U14S are excellent for non hardcore build, they even cool Threadrippers.
@Bigboomboom: Reflecting on the purchase of an NH-D15 for my Mum's photoshop build, it was overkill. I feel like the cooler needs to be rescued and challenged.
Technically yes but Ryzens aren't really worth overclocking too hard IMHO and at stock voltages the Ryzen fan has been pretty much silent . If it hadn't of been I would of swapped it over . Intel OTOH seem to be worth feeding a little extra voltage and their coolers are pretty junky to start with . I have the wraith spire and forgot there were different designs for other CPU's . Any way you slice it the 212 is a great cooler for the money .
Just wondering, if I have a quad core i5, not overclocked, will this make much of a difference compared with the stock cooler/fan? I'm looking for something super quiet (not that the stock fan is noisy, but any reduction in db, however small, is welcome).
It will help with your turbo boost, which is an inbuilt intermittent overclock. The cooler your temps, the more frequently you can boost.
Not only that it would be a lot quieter than stock Intel.
Ah yes, tower design will help with noise levels.
I suspect the Snowman Cooler on Aliexpress @ $23 is better bang for buck.

Got the Snowman cooler on a Ryzen 3600 and can keep it at 4.1Ghz all cores at reasonable temps. Runs quiet too. Would recommend.
