for reference, the SXFI is their new "Adaptive EQ" parametric balancer software that comes in 3 parts,
First is their SXFI tech, a "Crystallizer" HRTF parametric EQ, similar to "Dolby Atmos for Headphones" or Sennheiser's GSX, a HRTF type 3D "Surround sound" boost that spreads things across a virtual soundstage. Their USB-C powered Amp offers this. The SXFI Amp is a DAC + DSP with USB-C power, similar to other USB-powered headphone DAC Amplifiers.
I believe it's a good option for iPad Pro headphone users, IDK.
You can replicate this on PC with HeSuVi, a free app, which has HRTF surround and custom EQ headphone profiles… and SXFI can sort-of import these profiles too… which is why the SXFI app has so many headphone profiles built-in (sic).
Second is a frequency filter that supposedly customises sound based on a PHOTO of your ear canal… someone else takes a profile photo using the app, of your ear… and it constructs a frequency profile for your ear shape. Somehow. This works for the AMP.
Third, is an EQ filter similar to the Nuraphone and Airpods Pro which takes internal reflections of your ear's profile using a microphone inside the earcup. This is only on the SXFI AIR headphones.
I don't believe the SXFI Air custom microphone/echo profiles can be copied to the AMP or the regular SXFI headphones, since it's often tied to the headset's speaker/mic arrangement, but it's likely to be 150% more reliable than a photo of your ear… IDK.
How's the latency on these?
